25th of December.
Little six years old Nashi was bouncing around the big Christmas tree, excited because soon she would open her presents. “Mama! Papa! Hurry please! I can’t wait anymore!” her joyous voice blasting in the big walls of the living room.
“We are coming sweetie!” her mama hurried from the stairs, her husband trailing behind her, laughing loud.
Lucy adjusted her long white satin nightgown before sitting on the floor near her daughter. Natsu was on his red armchair in front of them, watching his two favourite people with enamoured eyes.
His heart dancing on the notes of a soft melody inside his chest.
The mother gave her daughter a little circular box “There! This is for you, sweetheart”, Nashi lifted the upper part and a small fluffy dog jumped out and on the little child’s legs. The puppy’s little tail happily wagging and his tongue licking all over Nashi’s face, “Thank you papa and mama! I love her and I promise I’ll take care of her!” she said hugging the dog close to her, “I’ll name you Freyja(*)!”
Lucy and Natsu’s hearts melting at the beautiful sight before their eyes. They went through so much to achieve their goals, most of the times it seemed all too impossible to keep going. But together, in the end, they managed to do it and now the result of their sacrifices was in front of them. Their lovely Nashi.
“This is for both of you” Lucy gave to her husband a big box, Nashi hopped on her papa’s legs. In unison, the two unwrapped the present, Natsu watched the phrase written on the black t-shirt ‘Super-Dad’.
He thanked his wife, who was standing near the chair with her hands behind her back. Lucy had a grin printed on her face.
Meanwhile, Nashi was concentrating on what was written on her shirt, taking her time to read each letter. ‘My number one big sister’, the pink haired toddler realised.
Soon, she will have a sister or a brother to play with. “Papa! Look!” but her daddy was focused on another thing. While the child was attentively reading the phrase on her shirt, Natsu found another little rectangular box, which was hidden under the two shirts.
It was a positive pregnancy test.
Positive.
They will have another baby soon. He was going to be a father for the second time. He could feel his mirth eyes becoming watery, a warm sensation inside of him spreading in every direction of his body. Like fresh water cleaning and purifying everything.
The previous days were stressful. He was dealing with some issues that took him most of his sleep and time. There were nights were he had worked until the first rays of the sun would shine and illuminate his study, some were he felt asleep on his desk and woke up with a blanket on his shoulders and a note from his wife. Natsu could sense that Lucy was worried about him and his wellbeing, but he reassured her that he had to resolve this problem quickly and after he would rest.
Lucy knew her husband did a hard work, being a mafia boss and CEO of his own company wasn’t so simple. But if she could do something to help him she would gladly do it. She trusted him but tried to not worry or stress too much because of her condition.
“You are pregnant” he absently said, still focused at the two red lines, “What? Is mama okay?” Lucy kneeled in front of her daughter and caressed her cheek “Soon, Nashi, you will have a brother or a sister!”, “So there will be another baby, mama?” “Yes my princess,” Natsu replied, awakened from his state of trance, “Are you happy?” he asked, a little concerned what their baby’s reaction would be at the news.
Nashi jumped in Lucy’s arms, hugging her. The blonde woman embraced her child tightly to her chest, “Thank you so much mama, this is the best gift ever!” the toddler smiled at her mother.
A knock on the door distracted the family, three pairs of eyes watching the figure who was entering in the room. It was Aquarius, Nashi’s nanny.
“Nanny! I will have a little brother!” the child jumping around the woman, her radiant smile lighting up her parent’s mood. “We’ll have a baby!” Natsu screamed happily, taking his wife by the waist and hoisting her up, twirling her. Freyja barking and running in circles around them.
“What did you asked to Santa for this Christmas, Nashi?” Aquarius asked, “I told him that I wish to have a brother! Or a sister! If he wants to give me both I will be so happy! I promised him that I would behave and be the best big sister in the whole world!” “I’m perfectly sure you’ll be, little one” the woman patted the pink haired girl head.
A smile forming in the corner of Aquarius’s mouth, glad that God listened her prayers.
“Congratulations Lucy and Natsu! I’m happy for you!” then she eyed the child, silently telling her that they needed to start their morning routine. The girl nodded.
She run to kiss her mama’s flat belly and saying an ‘I love you’ to her - not yet born - brother, or sister.
“Thank you again mama and papa! I love you so much!” she waved to them and went upstairs hand in hand with her nanny. Freyja following them.
Natsu kissed fiercely Lucy’s lips, til they had to separate to breathe. He kneeled to give a little peck to their second baby, his eyes closed and a relieved smile on his face. “Merry Christmas my Love” tears of happiness streaming down the blonde’s face, “Merry Christmas my Star, I love you so fucking much. Thanks for giving me two wonderful children”
