Why do Sam and Steve send letters to each other? They have phones, have computers, they’re not living in the 17th Century, so why letters?
It’s the penmanship that Steve learnt at such a young age from his mother.
It’s the letters Sam’s parents use to send him when he was away in combat. It’s the letters his parents still send attached with photos of AJ and Cass because they aren’t always sure that Sam will have service.
It’s familiarity.
Though it’s not just letters, it’s much more then perfectly written letters struggling to not make a mistake in the grammar or the words.
It’s the post-it-note that Steve places of Sam’s tupperware so he can read them at lunch.
It’s the grocery list Sam writes on the fridge so he doesn’t forget what he needs each week.
It’s the meal plan Steve has so he’s getting the right amount of caleroies a day. So his super healing works and he doesn’t find himself introuble again.
Their notes bring there family together and when Miles decides to move in with them as Sam’s mentee for the young avengers, he’s added to this notated family.
Miles is different he writes reminders for homework and actually updates the calender that sits on the wall in their kitchen.
He also uses his phone, creating planners and timetables so he can organise himself, school and superheroing. It sets a good example for Sam and Steve.
It’s the way that Steve’s calligraphy is much different to Sam’s script and Miles’ block letters.

After Miles moves in they use the smart fridge writing notes for eachother in their signature handwritings, it makes Tony laugh when he first sees the scribbled notes their family has but he’s gald they’re using the fridge to it’s full potential.
So why do Sam and Steve send eachothers letter in the 21st century.
Despite living in the same house.
Despite having the same postbox.
Despite the many technological ways they can also send messages.
Because their handwriting is the thing that makes them just a little different from each other. They can always tell what the other is saying without getting confused, and so can everybody else. Their love language is understood.
