Chapter Text
It was late at night, the only immediately noticeable sound was the steady rhythm of the blacksmith meka that got louder as she approached her house. But it wasn't the only sound, people were still talking further down the street, the water currents that run through the streets and the fountains all around the court of fontaine were lapping quietly. Furina offered a quick greeting to Estelle who was working late again, she never seemed to stop these days.
After entering her house she sat down at the kitchen table and opened the letter for the second time. Vacation. Something she hadn't seriously thought about since... well two hundred years at least. Ofcourse, it made sense, Fontaine had laws for workers to have at least 2 weeks of vacation a year, that was the norm. Some Employers gave more than that, it was heard of. But who in their right mind gave 6 weeks of vacation?! She did save the theatre troup, their last plays had done incredibly well, she was a renowned director now and had been archon for all of their life up until a year ago. Still...
It had all started with the lantern rite last year. She had requested 2 weeks of vacation to be able to go. Thinking back to it now... the leader of her theatre troup had been quite quick to grant Furinas request. And now, because of all the new developments and stress of the last months, her vacation time had formed a neat little mountain that seemed so daunting. She was lost on what to do with all the freetime with a third of that mountain! Vacation they call it, to destress you. Well that is not working!
What to do? Thinking about it, there were two thoughts that came to her. A actor had mentioned going to Inazuma a few months back, when talking about their time off. Could she travel to another nation? But wich one? She had only been to Liyue. Then another thought appeared. She had heard of gossip floating through the streets, people of Natlan were leaving their nation! This was unprecedented! Noone believed it at first, but then there was a musician standing on the plaza in the middle of the court of fontaine and played songs from his home, Natlan.
Natlan... on one hand it was known as a great vacation spot, on the other hand... there had always been something so offputting about a region that the citizens never left. Well that had changed now hadn't it? She must admit, she was curious about the recent events in Natlan. Surely the Traveller had something to do with this aswell. Why not fulfill these curiosities? Vacation spot decided!
But how would she get there, what could she do there and how much time would she need to travel there? ...she could deal with that tomorrow. It was way too late to be thinking this hard.
