He watches Shen Wei frown at the meat skewer in his hand. He's only just picked it up, and hasn't even managed to take a bite yet. Shen Wei turns his frown on the rest of the food they've ordered for lunch, and then with a little disapproving sigh picks out a different meat skewer, from a bit further away.
He doesn't resist when Shen Wei takes away the one in his hand and replaces it with his own choice. Their fingers brush together for a moment, and his belly seems to flutter a little. He raises his eyebrows at Shen Wei questioningly.
"It's less spicy," Shen Wei offers in explanation, his voice low enough not to disturb all the discussion going on around them.
Zhao Yunlan feels his chest grow warm, and he smiles at Shen Wei a little helplessly.
I love him, Zhao Yunlan thinks, and it should be a shock, but all it feels like is right, a soft warmth settling more firmly into his heart.
For a moment he's lost staring at Shen Wei. Shen Wei blinks, his expression a little befuddled. Zhao Yunlan grins, and lifts the skewer to his mouth, taking a quick bite.
