King

Summary:

In 2016, Valravn came to Cedar Point, powerful and intent upon conquering the peninsula upon which the park resides. A Battle for Cedar Point soon began, each of the major coasters quickly forming alliances to protect themselves and stand against the might of the new coaster.

The rides around Valravn didn't get much of a choice in what alliance they had to join. One of those rides was Raptor.

Notes:

I made a poll on Tumblr back in January asking people if I should randomly post one of the stories I'd written for my (admittedly quite elaborate) theme park universe on AO3, and all 6 people who voted in that poll voted "yes." So here I am a little over a month later following through on that poll!

Almost everything in the Parkverse regarding the Cedar Point storyline is inspired by the app "The Battle For Cedar Point," with me taking the idea of a bunch of roller coasters fighting each other and running with it. The result is this wild fantasy turf war using OCs inspired by roller coasters.

If you have any questions about the characters or the universe in question, feel free to leave a comment asking about it, and I'll give you a bit of info! I recognize that I'm just dropping you all into this universe with no context, so I leave you with this Tumblr post I made giving a basic universe introduction/run-down (https://www.tumblr.com/multi-fandomdisaster/771168734086840320/do-you-wanna-infodump-about-your-theme-park-ocs) and a promise that I'll elaborate further if you want me to!!!

Character guide:
Valene Raven -> Valravn
Raptor Hawkins -> Raptor
Griffon Gates -> Gatekeeper (mentioned)

Work Text:

“Who died and made you king of Cedar Point?”

Val slowly turned his head to look over his shoulder at the one who spoke out, a singular quizzical eyebrow raised.

“Come again?” he said, his tone a deep, dangerous growl.  Raptor Hawkins - the one who spoke - appeared completely unfazed, his arms crossed in a show of unamusement.

“I said: Who died and made you king Cedar Point?” Raptor repeated, a little louder to emphasize his point, “I know you’re new around here Val, so you might not have known, but we don't exactly do the whole ‘empire’ thing here.  Besides, it’s Raptor who rules the skies.  If anyone should be giving orders around here, it’s me.”

Val breathed out a singular laugh, turning the rest of his body to fully face the Coaster Rep.  The sleek indigo-black feathers of his cape swept across the stone ground in a motion which conveyed effortless grandeur.  Val was much scarier from the front than he was from the back.  Similarly to Griffon, Val’s posture was tall and proud, albeit a bit more inherently sinister.  He practically towered over most other people, his height only adding to his naturally imposing nature.  And then there was his aura.  No matter where he was or what he was doing, Val carried a natural dark energy to him - courtesy of the magic of Valravn  - which struck fear into the minds of anyone who found themselves caught in the gaze of his piercing golden eyes.  He certainly looked like a king, if not a warrior king based on the layer of ornately designed black and gold armor which he wore.  He even had a spiked golden crown on his head to tie it all together.

Val moved closer to Raptor, who held his ground.  The feather cape on Val’s back at first lifted with the wind of motion before magically unfurling into a brilliant pair of fully-extended black raven wings, adorned with golden armor.  Suddenly, Val was much more imposing than before, his expression holding a cold, stone-serious distaste towards his subject.  Raptor found himself somewhat shrinking away out of instinct, his own pair of black and green hawk wings defensively extending from his back thanks to the spike in adrenaline-induced magic now flowing through his veins.

“Let me make something clear,” Val’s voice was an intimidating, deep, growling rumble, “It doesn’t matter to me what you were before.  This is my territory and I am the king around here.  You’d better start respecting that fact or I’ll be forced to show you no mercy.  Do you understand me, Raptor?”

Raptor looked up at the much bigger Coaster Rep, his eyes wide with something between fear and shock.  Once he realized that Val was actually waiting for a response from him, he let out a quick “Yes, sir.”  Val smiled, a motion which only sent more chills down Raptor’s spine.

“Good,” Val purred, folding his wings neatly behind him before turning around and walking away, seemingly no longer finding any interest in Raptor.  Raptor subsequently let out a breath, allowing his muscles to relax & his wings to fall.  This new system was going to be rough to adjust to.
