Summary:

Hiccup has a good life on the outside but not on the inside behind closed doors.

This is a closer look at the Hiccup and Astrid relationship if Astrid abused every aspect of it for her own gain.

Notes:

Hi! :D

I've been inspired to write this, so here we are.

Astrid isn't as nice as you would think.

Hiccup is broken in this fic, so broken.

Stoick and the Village have no idea for this chapter, being a two shot though, gives me room the expand that idea.

And boy did I expand it, net chapter will make this fic over 8k words so look forward to it!

Oh one last thing, when I say hug, I intend for you to thing of the hug at the end of thw, just before the dragons leave, that Toothless gives Hiccup, I think it was beautiful enough to make it apart of this.

Let's take a peak into this httyd au.

See ya.

Chapter Text

- We start on a cliff that overlooks Berk -

Hiccup is with his dragon he found (shot down) five years ago, a Light Fury, who he befriended and changed Berk forever, a year later he found a Night Fury, a year after that? Well three baby Night Lights came into this world, and now at age 20? He is married to Astrid, his dragon family gave him more than he could ever dream.

At least that's his life in public. In private? His life is far worse.

Hiccup is looking at his map, looking at all the places he has explored, Moondust, his Light Fury snuggles around him, she is very protective of him ever since Astrid came into the picture.

Hiccup hears the sound of Toothless and sighs, he wonders what Astrid wants now. Astrid lands and dismounts Toothless "Hiccup! I've missed you, can you do a task for me?" Hiccup knows he has no choice, Astrid would force him to do it anyway so he says "Of Course, Milady. Anything for you." Astrid smiles "Perfect! I want you to head to the Smithy and make me a new axe." Hiccup nods his head says "Just a axe? That should be easy." Astrid smiles "Yep, just a axe.... Covered in gold." Hiccup's eyes go wide "GOLD? Astrid do you know how expensive gold is?" Astrid nods her head, "Yes I do, that's why I got some ahead of time. Of course you'll do this anyway because you love me right?" Hiccup sighs "Yes Astrid. Of course I love you." Astrid smirks "Good. See you later Hiccup!" She says taking off on Toothless.

Moondust looks over at Hiccup, is he really going to do what that spoilt Viking wants? Hiccup hugs his dragon and she hugs him back, he is crying, so she rolls him around and licks his face. Hiccup laughs "Moondust, you know that doesn't wash out!" Moondust laughs, Hiccup looks at Moondust "Thanks. That made me feel better. Come on let go get Astrid's request over with." Hiccup packs up his map and flies over to the Forge.

Once at the Forge Gobber is surprised at all that gold Hiccup has, "That's a lot of gold, there Hiccup. You making something important?" Hiccup looks at his mentor, "Yes. I'm making Astrid a golden axe, as a gift for staying with me for five years, she deserves it." He hopes Gobber will accept his story.

Gobber thinks that is nice of Hiccup, and he says as much, he even helps him melt the gold using the fire from Grump. After it is ready to use, Hiccup molds it into the shape of a axe hilt, and over a few days, completes the golden axe, and enters Astrid's and his home. Astrid looks at him expectantly "The Axe?" Hiccup presents the axe to her, "Here you are milady. The perfect Axe for a Viking warrior." Astrid beams "Thanks Hiccup!" She says kissing him, making Hiccup smile.

Hiccup and Astrid spend the day together walking through Berk, with Moondust and Toothless. You see officially the Furys are Hiccup's and Astrid rides Stormfly, but in truth it's more like Hiccup owns little with Astrid owns a lot.

Afterwards, Hiccup returns home to his real house (his father's house.) and Stoick welcomes his son home. "Son, did you have a good day with Astrid?" Hiccup breaths and once again fakes his happiness for this father, "Yes! Of course. I love Astrid, and I love spending time with her." Stoick chuckles "Ah, that's good to hear. I've always been confused though, why does your dragon always come home angry?" Hiccup stops for a moment, he didn't expect his dad to bring that up.

Hiccup thinks up something believable, he hates he can't tell Stoick the truth, but he loves Astrid too much to out her. "Oh Moondust is just upset because ideally I'd spend time with her, because I normally do things with her when I'm not hanging with Astrid." Stoick nods his head "Ah, I get ya, you big beast it is sad when your friends don't hang out with you." He says talking to Moondust, "But my advice? Find some friends of your own to hang out with unless my son needs you." Moondust nods her head in acknowledgement.

Stoick, Hiccup, Moondust, Toothless, Dart, Pouncer, and Ruffrunner, all settle in for a nice meal. Stoick tells the story of how Valka wasn't a great cook, so he had to do all the cooking but one time she convinced the great hall chefs to let her cook for the Vikings, he got tons of complaints the next day, explaining how at the time it was a lot of work, but now looking back on it was quite funny.

The Haddock's have a good laugh at that, and Hiccup asks his father a question "How come everyone seems to think Spitelout is this horrible dad? From what I've seen he care for his son and he is one of your most trusted men below Gobber?" Stoick sighs, "Well son. It all started because Spitelout made Snotlout fight a baby dragon when he was four. Oh ho, let me tell you, that was controversial. Spitelout is actually a great dad to Snotlout people just think of him as a bad dad, because of a bad call." Hiccup looks concerned "Fighting a dragon even a baby one at four? What was he thinking." Stoick laughs "He wasn't, he was overconfident and made a bet, Snotlout actually succeeded but he was hurt badly, he was at Gothi's for weeks!" Hiccup frowns remembering when Gothi's was full for a month straight.

Hiccup looks up at Stoick "Thanks Dad, for clearing that up." Stoick nods, after eating the Haddocks head to bed. The next morning, Hiccup wakes up and heads outside, Snotlout informs him Astrid wants to meet him and Hiccup thanks him.

Hiccup meets up with Astrid at the house "Hey Astrid. What do you want?" He asks nervously. "Hiccup, I want your dragons." Hiccup is shocked "What? No!" Moondust steps forward growling at her, "Yes Hiccup. You have to give them to me. You have no choice." Hiccup glares at Astrid "No. I'm not giving you my dragons." Moondust shoots a plasma blast above Astrid's head in warning. Astrid looks over at Moondust disgusted "I don't want all of them. Just Pouncer, Ruffrunner and Toothless." Moondust heads behind Astrid and claws her back "OW!" She screams, "Hiccup call off your dragon!" Hiccup signs.

Hiccup reluctantly calls her off, "Astrid you just said you wanted to separate her family. What did you expect?" Astrid glares at the Light Fury "Look, I don't care. Just hand me the dragons I asked for." Hiccup still stand his ground says "No, Astrid. These are my dragons you can't have them." Astrid gets up, "Fine by me. The hard ways more fun anyway. I'll just beat the answer out of you." Astrid runs in to attack Hiccup, but Toothless swats her with his tail.

Astrid groans but gets back up and walks calmly over to Hiccup, before punching him in the face. "GIVE ME MY DRAGON. NOW." She says before kicking him in the stomach. Hiccup groans in pain "Fine. Astrid, you win. Like aways...." Astrid stops attacking him, "Good. Now let's go tell everyone." Hiccup stands up following her outside, "Yes, Ma'am." The dragons follow dejected that Hiccup was attacked and they didn't stop it.

Once in the great hall, Hiccup tells everyone "Today I've decided to be.... Generous and let Astrid permanently keep Toothless, Ruffrunner and Pouncer, as a gift for her loving devotion to me." The village cheers at the dragon hero being so kind. Astrid walks up to him "Thank you so much, Hiccup! I'll treasure this forever." She says kissing his cheek then taking the dragons.

After this, Stoick looks at Hiccup and notices his injuries "What happened to you, Son? You look like you were in a fight with a dragon!" He says concerned for Hiccup's well being, "Oh, you know. Just a apple cart hit me on the way here, nothing to worry about." And he's not lying here, he was hit by one, because Astrid send one flying at him to make sure he did what he said, Pouncer fired a plasma blast to destroy it but that just sent chunks of wood at him instead.

Stoick looks over Hiccup, "If you say so son. I'd still ask Gothi to check it I were you." Hiccup agrees, as he already planned to do do so. Hiccup heads over to Gothi's and gets checked out, he is fine he just needed to drink to sort of medicine, to be safe.

After that Astrid thanks him again for being corporative and heads on her way, Hiccup cries to himself in the woods at his point. "She loves me, and I love her. But she does she always target me? And take advantage of my love?" He cries, his remaining dragons Moondust and Dart, look at him with pity, they're sad too they lost most of their family to this as well. But the dragons stay strong for Hiccup nuzzling him with their heads to cheer him up. This makes Hiccup laughs "AHahaha. You guys know how to cheer me up." Or at least it appears that way, really he is just doing it for the sake of his dragons.

Hiccup stands up and rides Moondust to a beach, were he plays in the water with his dragons. This actually cheers him up for real.

Hiccup splashes around in the water and starts to forget just how bad Astrid is to him. He has so much fun that by the time he leaves it is sunset. Hiccup spends the night hanging with the other riders, Ruffrunnner notices Hiccup and trills at him.

Hiccup pats his head before heading home, Stoick smiles "That was a nice thing you did for Astrid this morning, Hiccup." Hiccup looks at his father "Yeah, I know. She deserves it, after all she stuck with me for five whole years." Stoick nods "Right. The house will be more empty now without five dragons around." Hiccup nods "uhm yeah." Stoick takes notice of his sons state of mine.

Stoick sighs, "Alright son. Out with it what are you thinking?" Hiccup pauses "W-What do you mean? Dad?" Stoick put his hand on Hiccup's shoulder, "You're thinking about something. What is it?" Hiccup sighs, "Sorry. Dad. I was just thinking about how, you're right it will be less full." Stoick hugs his son "Like I said you did a brave thing, the right thing. It hurts but if you really love Astrid it'll be worth it to make her happy." Hiccup strains as he says "Thanks Dad. Crushing lungs." Stoick puts Hiccup down.

Stoick ruffles his sons hair "Alright I'm off to bed, you should be too. Nothing productive comes from one who doesn't sleep." With that Stoick heads off to bed, as do Hiccup, Moondust and Dart. Hiccup has a nightmare of all the horrible things Astrid has made him do, from forcing her will by doing things against his wise choices to outright blaming him for things she did when he was younger, he wakes up in a sweat, with tears in his eyes.

Moondust hears her riders cries and wakes up. She warbles to her daughter who also wakes up, together they head over to Hiccup. They climb on his bed and snuggle around him, licking his tears away and rubbing their heads against him until he notices.

Moondust and Dart, look at Hiccup inquisitively, and he hugs them, "Did I wake you? I'm so, so, sorry." He whispers, as Dart and Moondust warble at him and he smiles "You don't mind?" The dragons nods their heads. He sighs, "I guess I can tell you girls." His let's go of his dragons and they sit Infront of him looking at him "I've been thinking about Astrid. I love her, I really do. It's just, it feels like Astrid hurts me and bullies me into getting things her way without any input from me, I want is some input from her acknowledging my ideas, but she just, forces her way." He is crying at this point "Astrid loves me, I know she does. But why does she hurt me? I've never done anything to her." After this he just sits there crying.

Moondust and Dart look at Hiccup, they pity him, he can't see that Astrid is just abusing and using him for her own selfish goals. And because humans don't understand dragons they can't exactly tell him this, so instead they move closer to him and sit on either side of him and give him a hug. Holding him with Astrid forcing her way, the dragons must be trying to tell him something. After a while of sitting here thinking about this, he realises what the dragons are trying to show him, they care about him and love him, but they will listen to any ideas he has unlike Astrid.

When he realises this, he can barely hold himself together, still trying to be silent to not wake anyone else. He is shaking and all he can think is how wonderful dragons truly are, and how thankful he was he convinced the village to like dragons.

Hiccup looks up at the dragons who are still hugging him, and he whispers to them "Thanks Girls, I'm feeling much better. Thank you for listening to me when no one else will." Moondust and Dart let go of him and silently rub their heads against him, showing him they will stay by his side for as long as possible.

Hiccup lay back down "I'm going to try and get some sleep now." Moondust nods and moves off the tiny bed and sleeps on the floor next to it, so she can be by Hiccup, meanwhile Dart is small enough that she curls up next to his head. It is in this position that this family of a human and two dragons drifts off back to sleep.

And for once Hiccup has some sweet dreams, about Astrid finally accepting this input and showing her love more openly. It makes him smiles in his sleep, and he gets a deep sleep, that he so desperately needed.

Notes:

And that's the end!

Chapter 1 was pretty intense, chapter 2 has even more action and intensity.

Chapter 2 focuses on the drama a lot more.

Don't you just love making characters suffer only to give them hope? I sure do.

Astrid's violence was very easy to write, the hard part was making sure Hiccup didn't fight back because that's his character.

Despite the ending, Hiccup is STILL broken.

See you in a week's time!

Bye for now.

Chapter 2: Family's love

Summary:

The Dragon Hero's pain is resolved in this chapter.

Hiccup finally feels loved for the first time in his life.

Notes:

Hi! :D

In this chapter Hiccup has a range of emotions. I say a range but it is mostly one emotion for 80% of it.

this is a tense chapter, you won't know the ending until it happens. Also I'd recommend music for this chapter, helps with the emersion.

Stormfly is introduced.

Hiccup gains something new.

A reminder that I'd best describe Hiccup in this fic as a broken statue, beautiful and amazing, and yet cracks that reveal the truth yet go unnoticed.

Poor, Hiccup, broken and alone by Astrid's hand.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

- one week later -

Hiccup wakes up stretching his arms out, he heads downstairs, he and Astrid went on a long mission yesterday and after he was beaten into the ground just because he failed to mention that Gobber wanted to see her about her golden axe.

Which is understandable because they were being chased by a dragon all day. So he is hurt, but he pulls through getting out of bed, and having some breakfast before getting on Moondust and flying out of his home.

He talks with Fishlegs about the dragon cards he has made then Astrid comes up to them "Hiccup, come with me." Hiccup nods his head.

Following Astrid after Fishlegs said it was okay, after a kick in the shin by Astrid and when alone Astrid tells Hiccup "Hiccup. You know it's just so easy for something bad to happen to a house. Like the twins house for example?" Hiccup sighs "What did you do Astrid?" Astrid frowns.

"I messed with their home for eating my sandwich." She says in a tone that Hiccup thinks means she's not sorry. "And what do you expect me to do about it?" Astrid laughs "I pinned it on you. So now you have to go clean up and fix the house!" She says shoving him in the direction of the home.

Hiccup sighs of course Astrid shifted the blame to him. "Right.... What if I don't want to because I didn't DO anything?" Astrid glares "Oh, Hiccup, Honey no. You are going to do this. Unless you want a punch to the face?" Hiccup groans "Fine, Astrid. Have it your way." Astrid smiles "Thanks again Hiccup!" She says, leaving.

Hiccup heads to the twins house to survey the damage, flying on Moondust and it turns out all it is, is a misplaced shield, so he fixes it up.

The twins come in and Ask "Hiccup? I see you're finally back to fix what you did?" Tuffnut says a judgemental look on his face "Yeah, uh I'm sorry I didn't expect Astrid to take Toothless for a spin and then for Toothless to knock a shield over." Ruffnut is confused "Toothless did more then just knock a shield down." The twins take him outside.

Hiccup is shocked to see plasma blast marks all over the wood, he thinks to himself 'Astrid did a number to the twins but I wonder what they did to her?' "oh you need new wood for your hut? That's fixable" Hiccup says completely honest "Yeah, why'd you let your dragon use our hut as target practice." Ruffnut says trying to pressure Hiccup, "Yeah, we all know Toothless can never miss." Tuffnut follows up, Hiccup sighs, "It wasn't me. It was Astrid." He says deciding to share the truth.

Tuffnut laughs "How typical blaming Astrid, yes, she was with Toothless but he's YOUR dragon." Hiccup flinches, "Fine. I'll have your house professionally fixed for free." He says sighing "Perfect! Thanks Hiccup" Ruff says smiling before she and Tuffnut leave.

Hiccup goes around asking some Vikings to fix the twins hut and they agree out of pity. Then Hiccup hears his name "HICCUP!!" and he shivers "Oh boy, who needs my help now." He says sarcastically.

He turns towards the voice and finds Spitelout, "I just wanted to say, thanks for clearing my name." Hiccup is confused "What do you mean?" Spitelout smiles.

"Oh, Astrid Overheard your conversation to me with your father and shared with everyone. And now everyone likes me again, so thanks!" Hiccup blinks shocked Astrid has apparently been listening in to his conversation with Stoick.

"Uh, thanks Spitelout, your welcome?" Spitelout chuckles "Alright see ya, Hiccup. Tell your Father he is invited for dinner at my place, we need a good cook to teach Snotlout HaHa." Hiccup shivers again "Okay.... Will do." Spitelout leaves after that.

Hiccup gets back on Moondust and flies to the sound of Stoick's Voice, Hiccup enters a room and Moondust sits down, Stoick looks up cheerful his son has found him, "Son. I'm in a "discussion" at the moment. I'll be done soon." Stoick says turning back to his talk. Hiccup heads outside and waits for his father to finish setting these Vikings straight, thankful that isn't his job yet.

After Stoick is done he exits the breadmakers shop and walks and talks with Hiccup, "So Hiccup, What do you need?" Hiccup takes a breath before saying "Dad, Spitelout has invited you for dinner at his place." Stoick nods his head "Thank you for informing me, Hiccup." With that Hiccup is about to leave only for Stoick to stop him.

"One more thing. After that dinner let's go on a flight. Just you and me." Hiccup pauses he wasn't expecting that "Uh, ok sure dad." Stoick smiles "Thanks son." With that Hiccup goes about the rest of his day.

At Night time, Hiccup makes him and Moondust and Dart's dinner, he wonders how Astrid is taking care of he other dragons, he hopes it is well, but knowing Astrid it probably isn't.

A hour later Stoick comes back from his dinner with Spitelout. Looking surprisingly happy. "Wow Dad, you seem happy for someone who had dinner with the Louts." Stoick laughs "Oh Hiccup, you should've been there it was rather entertaining. Spitelout kept messing everything up and Snotlout had to correct him, it was hilarious. Now what do you say we get on with our flight." Hiccup nods eager to spend time with his busy father "I'm ready. So let's go." With that Hiccup and Stoick head outside.

Stoick obtains Skullcrusher and gets on him, as Hiccup gets on Moondust, Dart follows behind them looking for dangers. Father and Son fly enjoying the scenery of Berk.

This high up Berk is stunning and both Hiccup and Stoick enjoy the sight enough to just take it all in. Stoick smiles he brought Hiccup here for a reason, Hiccup is more willing to share things when he's with dragons.

Stoick hopes that Hiccup will share how his marriage is going, as he wants his son to know he will always be here for him if he has any bumps along the way. After flying for a while, Stoick asks "Son. How have you and Astrid been? Any fights? Any unhappy moments? Or is all well?" Hiccup is caught totally off guard with this question, so much so he stops Moondust.

"What? Dad my marriage with Astrid is going fine. What, what brought this up?" Stoick brings Skullcrusher to a stop and flies him Infront of Moondust.

"I just want you to know, I'm always here for you. Things may be fine now, but they won't always be. So. If you even need my support at all ever have a bumpy moment, you can always come to me, I'll help you son." This makes Hiccup pause again.

Hiccup starts thinking, he has been pretending so long that everything is fine with Astrid, but he knows she has been pushy and he knows he doesn't like not having a say in anything.

He decides his father is offering his help in case things go bad, he keeps flying thinking on it while he flies with his dad.

The clouds move out of the way and the moon is in full view and illuminates the sky in beautiful hue. Hiccup, Moondust and Dart, as well as Stoick and Skullcrusher have been flying for over a hour now, Dart spots a ship and fires a plasma blast at it setting it alight.

Hiccup and Stoick land on the ship and it turns out to be the twins setting up another prank that Dart's plasma blast ruined, everyone sighs and Stoick and Hiccup get back into the air.

It is then after thinking for about a hour and 40 Minutes, Hiccup decides to tell Stoick the truth, he knows Astrid will punish him for this but he decides to be brave and ask for his father's help in getting more of a say. He has Moondust fly up next to Skullcrusher but before he can say anything another ship pulls into Berkian waters.

This time being stealthy, Stoick and Hiccup watch the ship before determining it's aggressive intent, at this time Astrid on Toothless and followed by Pouncer and Ruffrunner, who Hiccup notes look worse off like he suspected show up.

"Chief. Hiccup. I heard there was a ship so here I am." Stoick nods "You two deal with the ship, I'll have Skullcrusher ram into it and you can plasma blast after." Astrid nods her head as Stoick dives down.

Stoick rams straight into the boat, leaving a hole in its side. This allows Hiccup and Astrid to move in, Ruffrunner fires a plasma blast destroying the mast and Toothless swoops in firing a plasma blast in the centre of the boat.

This combined with the hole in the side is enough to stop the attackers leaving them to drown in the ocean. Stoick is joyous as he and Hiccup and Astrid return to the skies.

Stoick then asks Astrid the same question he asked Hiccup.

Astrid smirks "Oh, our marriage is going perfectly isn't it Hiccup?" Hiccup knowing he has to play along says "Yep, I told you Dad, everything's going well." Stoick looks at them "Oh that's good. I just wanted to make sure it was happy on both ends, I like having a daughter in law." Astrid grins "Trust me Chief. I'm very happy." Stoick smiles oblivious to exactly why Astrid is happy in the first place "That's great." With that Astrid leaves taking her dragons with her.

Once again Hiccup and Stoick are alone, and after thinking about it for a long while, Hiccup decides to be brave and do something he knows will make Astrid livid. He decides to tell his father how Astrid just makes him do what she wants without his input.

Hiccup flies Moondust up to Skullcrusher this time checking to make sure no interruptions happen, but finding none he goes through with it. Hiccup takes a breath and looks over to his father.

"Dad can I tell you something?" Stoick stops Skullcrusher wondering what Hiccup has to say, "Of course, Son. Anything at All." Hiccup takes another breath, knowing Stoick will be shocked, he prepares himself to say it, then with Moondust, Dart, and even Skullcrusher's encouragement he does. "Dad I-" he stops himself it's hard for him to admit knowing what will happen if he does.

Once again the dragons knowing it's something big encourage him again, and this is enough for him to just go for it, for both his and the dragons sake.

"Dad, I have to admit. Astrid, has- well she-" he takes a deep breath "Astrid has been forcing her way onto me. She has never taken my way or my thoughts into consideration, she just makes me do things her way even when I have valid points and when she messes up she blames it on me and throws her axe at me." Stoick and the dragons all stop in shock.

Dart flies into Hiccup's arms both she and Moondust know how much risk Hiccup is taking by saying this.

"Son." Stoick begins now realising this is a serious conversation "You're saying Astrid is going around and making everyone be a yesman?" Stoick says in utter disbelief. Hiccup nods his head "Yes, yes I am." Stoick thinks of what he knows about Astrid, all he's ever seen of her is a kind yet determined warrior and he voices these thoughts.

"Son, Astrid is a kind yet determined warrior, even if she did the things you spoke of, and that's a mighty big "if" you'd need evidence for me to do anything about it. But from what I've seen, I think it's just you not being used to a warriors way of sharing love." Hiccup sighs he knew convincing his father would be tough.

Hiccup decides to try another idea to convince him.

"Look at it this way. That day I shot down Moondust changed my life. I freed a dragon, and from there I befriended a dragon, we went on to destroy the Red Death."

Hiccup shifts Dart so he is holding her with one arm. He then takes out the dragon blade and ignites it. "I made the dragon blade after befriending another fury a year later."

"I've improved my leg and dragon riding capabilities, I'm planning on making a wingsuit to improve my flying capabilities."

"These new dragons the Night Lights were born, I can train any dragon making me a dragon master of sorts, I'm also called the Dragon Hero for ending the war and saving countless dragons."

Hiccup takes a few breaths (Hiccup moves to make himself more comfortable by putting the dragon blade away.) "The village started looking at me positively for the first time, you started acknowledging me again for the first time since I was a kid, Astrid fell in love and married me. All because of Moondust." Hiccup takes a moment to catch his breath.

Stoick is listening intently wondering where his son is going with all this.

"At least, that's what it looked like to all of you, on the outside my life improved so much it seems almost impossible. And the Truth is while all of that is true, I haven't been entirely honest with you about some of my choices most of which were made because Astrid pressured me to do so." He shivers feeling relieved to be telling his father but also scared of Astrid's reaction.

Hiccup continues saying "Even now Astrid is going to hurt me if she finds out I'm telling you this. Astrid ever since she started dating me after I woke up from that month long coma has been forcing her way onto me." After Hiccup is finished, Stoick is stunned.

After floating for a while, the dragons land on a island and it's here where Stoick speaks up sighing a bit "Son, this whole time Astrid has been tricking the entire village? Using you as a front making you do things you don't want to and forcing you to claim you're just being nice?" Hiccup nods his head.

"Yes that is exactly what I'm saying." Stoick takes a moment to think about this, and after a good five minutes he decides it's wrong. "Hiccup I'm sorry but I don't believe you. It just sounds way to ridiculous." Hiccup, Dart, and Moondust are shocked.

Hiccup stutters "You're saying that Astrid being a jerk is ridiculous? You've seen me achieve Mum's dream of peace with dragons, I fly a dragon, but Astrid being mean is a line too far?" Stoick stays firm "Yes. Unless you have solid proof, Astrid is too nice to hurt you." Hiccup frowns, sighing.

He knows trying to convince his father is pointless, he will just have to make him see. Hiccup and Stoick spend the night on the island and other than the tense conversation have a pleasant time.

The next day Hiccup flies around on Moondust doing tasks and avoiding Astrid, until he knows his father will be nearby so he can hear Astrid's abuse for himself.

Around midday he heads to his and Astrid's shared home knowing Stoick is around and may decide to come in. "Hiccup! I've been looking for you all day, today where have you been?" Hiccup holds himself steady, Toothless and Moondust either side of him.

"Oh you know I was busy all day so." Astrid smiles "Is that so? Well Hiccup I have a job for you, go and egg fishlegs house." Hiccup resolves himself before saying "No." Astrid grins "What do you mean no? Don't you remember what happens when you say no?" She says waving her fist around.

Hiccup swallows extremely nervous about what Astrid is going to do.

"I said no. I'm not listening to you anymore until you learn to give back, I told Stoick about what you've been doing." Astrid freezes taking it all in, "Progression Is Regression, Hiccup." She snarls her voice dripping with a threat, "I said, I reported you to Stoick." Astrid screams "YOU DID WHAT?! OH you really are going to get it now." With that Astrid stands up.

Moondust, Toothless, Dart, Pouncer, and Ruffrunner circle around Hiccup to protect him.

Astrid scoffs "Look at the dragons, protecting their master like a bunch of stupid loyal dogs, Stormfly deal with them." With that Stormfly jumps down from her perch and she snaps and fires somewhere her spins at the Furys diverting the Furys attention to the dragon that is actively attacking them, allowing Astrid to walk right up to Hiccup.

Astrid slams her golden axe into the floor and lifts Hiccup up with her hands grabbing him by his shirt, "I warned you that if you ever revealed the truth to anyone you'd be in for it, but since you didn't heed my warning here we are." She says in disgust dropping Hiccup and Kicking him in the face.

She smirks lifting him back up and twisting his arm "Ah, Ow, Astrid Why?" Astrid chuckles "You did this to yourself. You want to know the truth." She says kicking him in the guts, Hiccup groans nodding his head.

Astrid leans forward and when she's in his face, she says, "I love you, really I do. But you're just so exploitable I'd be silly not to." Hiccup is stunned at what Astrid admitted.

He hopes his Dad was around to hear, Astrid lifts him up before Kicking him back down pressing her boot to his back. She steps off him and rolls him over only to punch him in the stomach as hard as she can, "You, Hiccup are the perfect tool, using your status as the Chief's son you can get literally anything you want, why wouldn't I use that?" She helps him up only to throw him at the wall.

Hiccup cries out in pain, he is stunned into silence after what Astrid just said, he manages to squeak out a "How dare you do this to me?" Hiccup tenses as she picks up her axe, Astrid laughs, like full on laughs at him "Aw that's adorable you're mad you got manipulated. Well I've got news for you, I'll never stop using you, ever." Astrid brings her golden axe down.

Hiccup holds his breath her golden axe next to him holding him against the wall, he knew Astrid would react violently but he didn't think she'd be this upset.

Astrid knuckles Hiccup in the face, before pulling him off the wall and dragging him down, putting her golden axe to his neck, "I gave you so many chances! Mess up one more time and you get the axe got it?" She says anger dripping in her voice.

Hiccup swallows nodding his head, Astrid grins "Good." She says taking her axe away before pushing him in the path of Stormfly's spikes "Oh, that hurt." Astrid growls "It should." She picks him up again, tossing him in the air to disorient him.

Astrid kicks him in the shin "Always remember you belong to me." Once again helping him up as she screams into his ear, and she knees him in the back, making him scream out, as he is pushed against the wall, when there is a knock at the door.

Astrid and Stormfly instantly stop, and Astrid shouts "I'll be there in a sec!" She hears the Chief shout out "Okay, make it quick." Astrid glares at Hiccup whispering in his ear, "Oh you tried, you really, really did." She leans off of Hiccup.

Hiccup catches his breath hurt and tired from Astrid's fit of rage, when she glares at him "Hiccup, Hiccup, I just don't understand. You trying to expose me was never going to work." With one last elbow to the face she goes to the door and let's Stoick in. Stoick thanks Astrid, and looks at the messy state of the room, the state of Hiccup and the dragons, and wonders what happened here.

Stoick voices his thoughts "What- What happened here?" Astrid smiles saying "Oh the dragons got into a bit of a fight and Hiccup tried to stop it." Stoick looks at his son, "You tried to stop a dragon attack?" Hiccup is panting but shakes his head.

"No? Than why did Astrid say you did?" Astrid steps in "Oh don't mind him. He just doesn't want to worry you, that's why he is denying it. Isn't that right Hiccup?" Hiccup has caught his breath, and speaks out now "No, no it's not. Dad I told you last night, Astrid just hurts and uses me." Stoick shivers surely his son couldn't be correct.

Astrid laughs "Oh Hiccup, ever the jokester." Hiccup frowns "It's not a joke. Dad you wanted evidence, look around. The house, me, the dragons, the axe marks? All of it is proof." Stoick blinks looking around, thinking hard.

Astrid goes to distract his thoughts, "So, Chief why are you here?" Stoick looks over at Astrid, "I was here for two reasons, first I heard a loud noise coming from this house. And the second was I wanted to talk to Hiccup about his dragons." Astrid nods showing interest.

Hiccup groans and gets his dad back on track "Dad. Focus. She is trying to distract you." Stoick nods his head "Right. Enough small talk. Let see if you really have any evidence." Stoick goes around the house looking closely at everything thinking. After he is done he asks the dragons and they nod when he asks if Astrid has been hurting Hiccup.

Stoick frowns "If that's the case then way are there dragon claw marks?" Hiccup jumps in before Astrid gets the chance to spin a lie, "After it was clear Astrid was going to hurt me. Moondust, Toothless, Pouncer, Ruffrunner, and Dart stepped in to protect me. Astrid got Stormfly to distract them while she attacked me." Stoick nods his head.

"That's all well and good son, but you'll have to prove it to the rest of Berk. I believe you that Astrid did something, but if I just kick her out off that I'll have a lot of Vikings mad at me. Namely her parents." Hiccup sighs, "Fine. Its meet me in the centre at sunset." Stoick nods and leaves.

Astrid walks up to him "Try all you want dragon boy. I'm going to crush you after I convince all of Berk you're a liar." With that Astrid walks out to prepare and Hiccup breaks down again, all his dragons comfort him and he focuses on the trial ahead. Once sunset arrives half a hour later, Stoick, Hiccup, Astrid, and Gothi all stand around the village centre.

A crowd gathers curious to see if Hiccup is telling the truth, because they can't believe Astrid is like that.

"My, we've attracted quite a audience." Stoick says getting attention of people who didn't show up "Today Astrid stands against Hiccup accusations of abuse of power and of people." Stoick looks over at Gothi and she begins showing everyone the damage Hiccup has received from Astrid's attack.

The people are shocked "Astrid is the true? Did she really attack Hiccup? Maybe Hiccup is the one abusing his power? Hiccup's the dragon hero it could just be from a dragon attack?" Are all things going around, Stoick stops them.

"Wait, there is more, let Astrid speak." Astrid smiles "Look at the facts people. Hiccup does encounter a lot of dragons, clearly he was just attacked by one and is blaming it on me." This gets people to nod in agreement.

Stoick nods and Gothi points at the axe marks on Hiccup's clothes and hands. Hiccup says "See? A dragon can't cause axe marks only a axe can." The people nod again, Astrid speaks up "And yet, you work in the forge with Axe's all the time." People once again start believing Astrid. Hiccup knew it would be hard to convince people, that's why he is happy his dragons saw the events, nothing is more convincing than sight after all.

Hiccup tells them "Ask the dragons. They'll have seen it all." With that Stoick asks the dragons outright "Did Astrid take advantage of Hiccup's position to get what she wanted?" To which Moondust, Toothless, Dart, Pouncer, and Ruffrunner all nod there heads. This makes the Vikings of Berk shocked, makes them question if Astrid truly did it or not.

Astrid's Mum speaks out "Astrid... is all this true?" Hiccup smiles as now even Astrid's own parents are questioning it.

He points out what everyone needed to hear "This whole marry Hiccup thing, it was just so you had a easy target and a whole lot of free power you wouldn't have otherwise. Everyday since you married me has been you forcing me to do things you're way, just admit it." Astrid feeling the mounting pressures decides she can admit it and fight her way out of this.

Astrid sarcastically claps her hands "How very clever, Hiccup. Well I guess that's it then I admit it, I have been using and abusing our marriage." The crowd is shocked she not only did it but also admitted it.

Whispers go around saying "I just don't believe this. I know. I'm shocked too. I'm Sad... but also surprised."  Astrid snaps lashing out, "As I told Hiccup he is easily exploitable, I'd be a fool not to take advantage of it. Besides, I've spent YEARS of my life servicing Berk, it's only fair I get something back." She says waving her golden axe around and pointing at Toothless.

Hiccup looks at Astrid, "You really think that's an excuse? You're pathetic, Astrid. It doesn't excuse anything you've done to hurt me and others." Stoick tells her "We need to do something with you, I'll let Berk decide." So he tells Berk they can decide her fate.

Snotlout suggests "I vote we build a prison guarded by stormfly at Berks highest mountain!" Astrid doesn't like where this is going.

Astrid is still confident she can get out of this "No no no no. I won't let you do that. Ever. This is YOUR fault!" She says pointing at Hiccup. "You did this to me! You should've stayed silent!" Everyone corners Astrid so she can't run off.

She raises her golden axe. She's ready to fight her way out "I'll fight all of you! Each and every one of you! I'll--! Stormfly lands on top of her keeping her in place and Hiccup tells Stormfly to hold Astrid in the air for a bit and she does so.

Hiccup tells Astrid "This never would've happened if you had just shown me some love." Then he pulls a lever and a trapdoor opens right as Stormfly drops Astrid.

Hiccup sighs, "I'm sorry it had to come to this." Hiccup closes the trapdoor. Hiccup turns to Berk "This should hold her. Now you can decide what to do with her easier." Stoick turns to his son "I'm sorry for doubting you." Hiccup hugs his father.

Stoick returns the hug "No worries Dad." Hiccup starts "I know you're hard to be convinced of things most times." Stoick let's go of the hug and sighs "But I should've seen the signs something was wrong." Hiccup let's go of his dad and looks him in the eye "It's okay Dad, I forgive you for not noticing, Astrid did her best to make it as convincing as possible." Stoick sits down, sad.

Hiccup smiles at his Dad, showing him he doesn't care Stoick didn't notice before "Hiccup, I promise next time you need my help I'll be more observant." Hiccup nods his head "Thanks Dad, but you have a Village to lead." Stoick stands up, "Right you are Son. See you at dinner." With that Stoick heads out into the emerging night time and the rest of the village follows suite.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this Astrid, I truly am." With that Hiccup takes some wood and barricades to door so Astrid can't escape, then he takes Stormfly, Toothless, Ruffrunner, Pouncer, Dart, and Moondust to his house.

He sets up a bed for Stormfly "You can sleep here tonight girl." Stormfly nods her head, with that, this little family of dragons and one human head outside to meet the rest of the riders. Seeing Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and Snotlout brings a smile to his face "Hey guys, I'm glad you finally know the real Astrid." He says with honesty unparalleled.

Fishlegs nods his head "Yeah. Who knew Astrid was so mean? Like Hiccup I feel bad, I'm sorry for what you had to go through." Hiccup looks at Fishlegs "No need to apologise Fishlegs, I'm just happy it's over." Ruffnut walks over to him and shakes his hand "You sir, are brave. Braver than me." Tuffnut does the same but embracing him in a hug, "Yeah. Hiccup, you're very, very, brave." Hiccup smiles "Thanks Ruff, you too Tuff." Snotlout makes the biggest deal out of it.

"Hiccup. cousin. I'm sorry, I can put aside my ego and say that, what you had to go through no one should. And now I feel stupid for flirting with Astrid knowing what she is really like." Hiccup is shocked that Snotlout said that, and replies "Wow. Well thanks Snotlout, I never thought you'd ever say anything like that." Snotlout laughs "Me neither, Hiccup. Me neither." He says, shaking his head, With that Hiccup and the gang hang out for a while.

Before they split up Fishlegs tells Hiccup "Oh and Gobber wanted to meet you something about being sorry for you." Hiccup smiles "Thanks Fishlegs." Hiccup goes to the forge and says hi to Gobber.

"Hey, lad. I just wanted to say I'm sorry." Hiccup sheepishly says "Yeah, everyone's been saying that to me. A lot." Gobber looks at him blankly "Oh." He says, "Well. I got something for you." He continues, and he pulls out a bag of leather, "This here is for that new flight armour you wanted to build and try out." Hiccup is surprised "Thanks Gobber." Gobber smiles "You're Welcome lad, you've earnt it." Hiccup thanks Gobber.

Hiccup and his dragons head home and when they enter the house, Stoick is not just making Dinner but Hiccup and the dragons favourite, "It's the least I could do to make it up to you." He happily said when questioned by his son.

They all eat Dinner with Stoick talking about their day, Stoick is horrified to learn of what Astrid did to him before he showed up, "I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you son." Hiccup smiles at his Dad, "It's okay Dad. You had no idea what was going on. I'm just glad that you did eventually show up. Saw Astrid for who she really is." Stoick nods his head in agreement as Hiccup the talks about what the riders and Gobber did for him.

Stoick is happy Hiccup has such good friends, "What your Friends and Gobber did. Worthy of my praise, you have great friends and a great mentor." Hiccup nod his head. After dinner every one retires for the night, as always they have a busy tomorrow.

Hiccup sets up the stones for Moondust and Toothless, and makes a bedding for Stormfly as well, "Okay, Stormfly feel free to sleep in which ever way you want." With that he gets in his own bed and let's the Night Light baby's sleep with him because he knows they like that. The Night Lights climb onto Hiccup's bed and rest close to him.

Stormfly is happy Hiccup will let her sleep however she wants as Astrid always forced her to sleep in a uncomfortable position. She wants to show her gratitude and it turns out Moondust and Toothless and their kids wants to show Hiccup how much he is loved.

Stormfly walks up to him and licks his face, not only to get his attention but to show how appreciative she is.

Hiccup wiggles around laughing as he sits up and Stormfly shows her appreciation "Wow, Girl. Was Astrid really that bad?" Stormfly stops licking him and nods her head, "Well I'm sorry she was that awful to you, her own dragon." Stormfly curls at his feat "Wait. what are you doing? You're too big you might brake the bed." To Hiccup's surprise his bed holds firm "Well I guess you can stay. I did say you could sleep in any way you want." With that Hiccup lays back down.

Suddenly Toothless and Moondust join in "What's gotten into you tonight?" The dragons frown, poor Hiccup has been neglected love so long he can't even recognise it. They seek to change that, so they nuzzle up to him, as to Ruffrunner, Dart, and Pouncer.

The adult furies stand either side of him, showing their love by putting their heads on his stomach. The Fury kids show their love taking his shoulders and head and hugging him.

Hiccup realises what's going on, he dragons are showing him the kindness, attention, love, and affection Astrid never did. Hiccup cries, genuinely cries, his dragons are so loyal and loving and Stormfly is as well.

It is here in this position, that the family of Hiccup and his dragons fall asleep together, having the sweetest dreams, and enjoying each other's company. Stoick even wakes up and joins in after hearing all the noise.

Hiccup rests easy knowing for the first time his family- his true family loves him.

Notes:

And that's the end!

What a rollercoaster of emotions.

Hiccup gains a new family member of his ever groaning collection of dragons as his family.

Stoick finally saw the truth.

Hiccup gets shown true unrelenting passionate love.

Hiccup's hard life is over.

At least for now anyway.

After all this is set very close to movie 2.

There is nothing better than this.

Once again, I had a fun time writing this chapter and this time I put Hiccup through much worse but with a much more for filling payoff.

If you liked Astrid being this way, Check-out my fic Hiccup's Dragon Paradise as that fic has Astrid act like this one especially in the last few chapters.

Hiccup after years of pain at Astrid's hand, finally admitted the truth, and exposed her to the wider village.

Now his father and dragons got to show him what true love is.

In the beginning notes I described Hiccup like a broken statue, that was internal.

Now here at the end, he is a repaired one, put back together, fixed, beautiful and wonderful, and broken no more, fixed because he was loved, Hiccup is no longer alone but Astrid free and happy.

What did you think fo this chapter and of this fic?

Let me know please.

Any questions about this fic? Ask them!

But that's all from me.

Have a fantastic day or night.
