“Fireball. What did you do?”

“Nothing! I-It- It’s not anything bad, I swear,” Firey shrugged, smiling sheepishly as he brought out a little, cardboard sheet, with something tied to it in plastic.

“Here. Thought you might like it.”

Leafy beamed, hands curling up into little, shaking spheres of excitement.

“Aww! You didn’t have to!”

Firey chuckled softly, that smirk still plastered to his face. “Just take it. I’m pretty sure you’ll like this one.”

Work Text:

Firey didn’t have a lot of interest for shopping. In fact, you’d almost never find him out in the Goiky mall. He enjoyed sitting in his room and ‘rotting away’.

Though…

Things have been different lately.

Firey smiled to himself, humming a small tune to himself as he strolled across the concrete path, marigolds blooming on the sidewalk. (In reality, his humming was severely off tune and extremely pitchy, but Leafy had said it was nice.)

She had also said marigolds were nice. He plucked one out for her, his grip on the dark, green stem tightening as he walked.

Leafy.

Even the thought of her made his heart pound against his rib cage. God… She was amazing. With that warm, bright smile of hers, that adorable little pout she’d put on whenever he was being stupid… She was way too good for him.

Firey took out the keys, opening the front door and heaving the bags along with him. He heaved the bags inside, panting. Damn- why did Coiny need so much baking supplies-?

“Firey!”

He couldn’t fathom just what was going on, until a pair of hands wrapped around his figure, practically breaking his ribs. Firey let out a silent hiss, before his eyes softened upon seeing that vibrant green hue.

“Hah, missed me?” He smiled, pulling her into a much more comfortable embrace. She giggled, rolling her eyes playfully and wrapping his arms around her. She smelt like lemongrass and sleep, just like always. Firey instinctively buried his face into her shoulder, taking in the scent.

The others hadn’t been told about their relationship- they just assumed the two were extremely clingy, and oddly close.

Leafy chuckled, before responding with a quiet, “Why wouldn’t I”

Firey smiled, kissing a spot near her eye where her sun-kissed skin stood out. “Alright, enough of that sappy stuff…”

Leafy rolled her eyes at the comment, pulling back so he could take out some of the stuff Coiny had asked for. Flour, sugar, eggs, butter, cheese- What? What type of cake was Coiny making?

Firey paused for a moment, noticing the marigold on the floor from her ‘attack’. His mind wandered back to the surprise he had for her, flashing a dimple. She sighed, knowing that look all too well.

She was way too cute... “Just take it. I’m pretty sure you’ll like this one.”

Leafy arched a brow, his vagueness sparking a hint of curiosity inside her. She slowly turned the packet around.

A cylindrical, dark blue tube, the label reading ‘Blueberry lip gloss’.

She blushed wildly, eyes boggling as she stared at the flame. Firey simply smirked, a red blush growing on his cheeks as he moved to whisper in her ‘ear’.

“I never got to taste my blueberry waffles.

If it was possible to curl into a ball and explode, Leafy would be doing that. She could feel the immense heat rise to her cheeks, as Firey continued to grin at her with that mischievous glint in his eyes.

She pulled him closer, matching his soft voice. “Well, I think you’ll get your chance soon.”

Oh my oxygen-’ Firey forced himself to not just , though he could feel his knees going weak, flames growing more erratic as she spoke. God dammit, how she could make him turn into a lot of affection and love so easily.

“You know, I should test this out,” She smirked, winking at him. The flame turned red almost immediately, the smirk growing slightly bigger, as he responded, trying to hide just how head-over-heels he was for her.

“You definitely should,” his voice was barely a hush, smirking. “And I’d be more than happy to be your guinea pig for that.”

She huffed out a laugh, kissing his cheek. “Thank you, Fireball.”

“‘C-course…” Firey hid his red face from her, the sides of his mouth twitching up into a lovesick smile. His mind was still reeling from the way her kiss had set ever nerve in him ablaze, resisting the urge to turn his head and pull her into a proper kiss. “Anything for you, L-leafs.”

Man, did he hate shopping.

Firey’s footsteps echoed across the empty kitchen, noticing a gold, small coin strolling in, hands behind his head. Firey rolled his eyes, continuing to shove packets into the pantry.

“So?”

“Huh?” Firey arched a brow.

“What’s up with you and Leafy?”

The flame froze for a good few moments, before quickly shrugging it off, continuing to put away the groceries.

“Nothin’. Why’d you think that?”

Coiny chuckled, shaking his head. “D’ya think I’m stupid or something?”

“Yes,” Firey shrugged off his retort, trying to ignore just how red his face was getting.

“So… you’re not dating?”

He groaned, turning around to face the wad of metal. “Coiny, for the last time, we’re just friends, okay?

Coiny stifled a laugh. “Sure, buddy. Just didn’t expect you to have game or anything.”

He mumbled the last part, causing Firey to stare at him, dumbfounded and slightly offended. “I’m sorry, wha-”

“Firey? Could you come in here for a second?” Leafy’s voice cracked through the tension lingering between the two boys, Firey’s head whipping towards her room, the door open. Coiny broke into a smirk, his grin only getting wider as he raised his eyebrows at Firey, hinting at something. The flame scoffed, and in an impulsive moment, threw the packaged cheese at Coiny’s face, sending him tumbling back.

“For whatever cheesecake you’re making,” He grumbled, before turning to Leafy’s door. “Coming, Leafs.”

Firey strolled in, peering out the door to see Coiny still smirking at him, raising his brows. The flame grumbled something under his breath before shutting the door. His gaze shifted over to Leafy, sitting on her desk with something in hand. Her vibrant, green leaf that glimmered in the sun’s rays, those emerald eyes that he’d willingly drown in whenever he saw her…

“Yes, Leafs?” Firey arched a brow, confusion written across his features as he stared at her. She simply grinned, giggling softly as she turned to face him. A layer of a shimmering blue coating her lips. Firey's heart was doing cartwheels as his gaze fixed on her.

Firey stared at her, dumbfounded. He could faintly register his jaw about to fall to the ground as she moved closer to him.

“So? You like it?”

Firey nodded, a wobbly, lovesick smile spreading across his lips. “Yeah… You look great.”

Leafy grinned brightly, strolling up to him-

And attacking him with a barrage of kisses.

His face flushed immediately, chuckling softly. “Hey- Leafs!”

She continued to kiss every part of his face she could, leaving small, blue prints on his face. His jaw, his cheek, his forehead and an occasional one on his lips. Firey could stop his constant snickering, feebly pushing her back with one hand, though making no real attempt to stop her.

“Leafy- come on-” He laughed, smiling brightly. She continued to pepper him in affection, giving him one last kiss on the lips, before pulling back, satisfied.

His entire face, once a bright orange, was now prominent with blue marks all across it, a much darker shade of blue adorning his lips. She smirked, ruffling his flames.

“I think it looks great. And it tastes great too!”

Firey simply smiled lovingly, nodding. “Yeah. I-I agree.”

She giggled relishing in the sight of her boyfriend covered in kisses she had given him. “We should probably wipe them off.”

Firey couldn’t exactly fathom anything at the moment, simply nodding and pulling out a tissue to wipe his face with. He turned to her, a few marks still present on his face.

“There. I think that's good.”

She held back a laugh, eyes turned up. “F-Fireball, you missed a spot.”

The flame simply smirked, nodding. “Oh, I know ,” He kissed her, leaving a blue mark on her mouth. “I think I look pretty handsome.”

She broke into a lovey-dovey smile, laughing softly. “You always do, Fireball.”

Firey grinned, pulling her closer. “Y’know, I still prefer blueberries.”

Coiny passed their door, smiling to himself as he could hear the two lovebirds. He chuckled, muttering the word ‘simp’ quietly.

Now, he just needed to find out how to impress Pin with a… cheese-cake.
