Work Text:

1x1x1x1 strode through a forest-like area, each heavy footstep landing with a resounding thud against the ground. With every step, the vibrant green grass flickered and distorted before crumbling into a withered, decaying mess beneath them. Anything the creature touched either withered away entirely or was left in a state far worse than before. But 1x1x1x1 didn’t care. In fact, the destruction of such “beautiful” things only filled the monster with satisfaction. The collapse of life—the very things that inspired hope and happiness in others—was what brought him joy. After all, what more could be expected from a being fueled by nothing but pure hatred for all things?

1x1x1x1 absentmindedly scratched his head, fingers tangling in the unruly mess of his hair. He never bothered to tend to it—not that he could even if he wanted to. There was no way he’d waste time searching for a brush in this wretched place, as if one could even exist here.

For a brief moment, he considered asking C00lkidd to spawn one for him, but the thought was quickly dismissed. The last thing he wanted was to interact with that insufferable brat. He could already imagine the endless barrage of questions—“Why do you need a brush? Are you trying to look nice? Since when do you care about your hair?” Just the thought made him cringe.

And even if, by some miracle, he did get a brush, he doubted it would last more than a few strokes before snapping in half. His hair was that unmanageable.

1x1x1x1 hissed in frustration as he tried to pull his hand free from the tangled mess of his hair, only for his fingers to get caught in the knotted strands. With a sharp yank, he finally freed himself, a few white hairs coming loose in the process. He barely spared them a glance before brushing them off and continuing his path through the forest.

As he walked, the rhythmic crunch of decaying grass beneath his feet was interrupted by the distant sound of two childlike voices. His expression darkened. He knew exactly who they belonged to.

With an exasperated sigh, he turned on his heel, intent on walking in the opposite direction—

"WAIT FOR ME!!!" 1x1x1x1 stumbled slightly, almost falling as Bluudud—seemingly playing some form of "tag"—pushed into him. Just as Bluudud appeared, C00lkidd showed up behind them.

"NO FAIR! NO FAIR! You got a head start! CHEATER!" C00lkidd yelled, pointing an accusing finger at Bluudud.

Bluudud smirked, hands on his hips. "You're just mad I won, loser! Face it—Blue is better than RED!"

C00lkidd charged at him, but Bluudud shoved him back with ease, holding the other’s forehead to keep him from landing a hit.

"LIAR! LIAR! PANTS ON FIRE!" C00lkidd screamed, still flailing his arms at Bluudud as the latter laughed in response.

1x1x1x1 shot a look at the two, his patience already thinning.

"You BOTH are such insufferable beings to be around," 1x1x1x1 hissed at the two, who glanced back at him.

"THAT'S what I tell C00lkidd every day," Bluudud said, shoving the other aside before dusting his hands off. C00lkidd nearly lost his balance but quickly steadied himself before firing back.

"YOU'RE INSUFFER-RATEABLE-ER!" C00lkidd shouted, crossing his arms and sticking his tongue out at Bluudud, mimicking the gesture he had just made.

"Oh, shut up already! You don't even know what insuffer...rated...table.... means!" Bluudud retorted, poking C00lkidd in the forehead as the two scowled at each other.

1x1x1x1 growled lowly, not wanting to deal with their nonsense. He scratched at his tangled hair again, hissing in frustration.

"I did not come here to be a part of your shenanigans. If you two are going to continue this bickering, go bother someone else," 1x1x1x1 flicked a small rock out of his hair, turning away from the two.

"Why not!? We're having a picnic! Well... without food!" C00lkidd said brightly, his enthusiasm unmistakable. 1x1x1x1 blinked at him before rolling his eyes.

"We saw you, so we decided to come race and get you— which, by the way, I won. In case you forgot!" Bluudud chimed in, hands proudly placed on his hips.

"Cheated! You CHEATED!" C00lkidd shot back, glaring at Bluudud before turning his attention to 1x1x1x1 again.

"We're having one with ALLL the 'taggers!' That's why we came to get you!" C00lkidd continued, his voice full of excitement. He always referred to the killers as "taggers." 1x1x1x1 found it somewhat annoying to be grouped in such a childish manner, but he didn't say anything about it.

"Wellll... Everyone except Jason," C00lkidd said, his expression still bright and eager.

1x1x1x1's eyes slightly widened at the statement. Despite how annoying and awful C00lkidd and Bluudud were, Jason somehow seemed to be the one who put up with them. If anything, he was surely the only one who would willingly make an attempt to tolerate C00lkidd. 1x1x1x1 often wondered how the hell Jason managed it.

"Actually, have you seen him!? He always shows up to hang out with me!" C00lkidd frowned slightly, looking up at 1x1x1x1 with confusion.

"Maybe you were so annoying he ran away!" Bluudud snickered, clearly enjoying the banter.

"HEY!! YOU'RE THE ANNOYING ONE, STUPID!!!! YOU PROBABLY SCARED HIM OFF!!!" C00lkidd snapped back.

"Oh please, it's CLEARLY your fault, you stupid FAT slob!" Bluudud shot back, crossing his arms.

"Is not!" C00lkidd shouted, stomping his foot.

"Is too!" Bluudud retorted, smirking.

"IS NOT!!" C00lkidd screeched.

"IS TOO!!!" Bluudud replied, just as loud, and the back-and-forth continued.

The two children continued their back-and-forth, each one trying to outdo the other in volume. 1x1x1x1 felt the urge to simply stab them both and be done with it, but he quickly dismissed the idea. They were too caught up in their bickering to notice, so he took his chance. With quiet, deliberate steps, he slipped away, moving deeper into the forest, out of their reach.

As he ventured further, he let out a frustrated sigh, finally away from the incessant noise. The only sounds that remained were the crunch of grass beneath his heavy footsteps, and for the moment, the silence felt almost like a relief.

1x1x1x1 continued walking for a few minutes, the rhythmic crunch of grass beneath his feet being the only sound. But then, something unusual caught his attention—a faint, distant rush of water. He paused, ears twitching as he focused on the noise. Soft splashes, subtle but distinct, came from his left. Curiosity pricked at him, and he decided to follow the sound.

Each step brought the noise into sharper focus, growing louder with every move he made. His feet pressed onward, and soon enough, the forest gave way to something different. He found himself standing before an area overrun with vines and leaves, the space beyond it concealed as if hidden. The forest’s edge stretched upwards, the towering walls of the area beyond almost impossible for his eyes to fully grasp. Despite the mystery, 1x1x1x1 couldn’t ignore the pull of his curiosity.

Without hesitation, he pushed the thick vines aside, stepping into the unknown.

The vines were thicker than 1x1x1x1 had anticipated, wrapping around his legs and hair, pulling at him with every step. Some vines slapped against his face, irritating him further. With a growl of frustration, he grabbed his sword, swinging it with swift, practiced motions, cutting through the vines that hindered his progress. The thick green tendrils fell to the ground, sliced neatly in half. After what felt like an eternity of hacking, he finally cleared the last of the obstruction, dusting off the remnants of the vines that clung to his skin and hair.

When he finally looked ahead, his breath caught in his chest. A waterfall? He blinked, disbelief creeping into his mind. The area in front of him was unlike anything he had expected. It was grassy, much like the forest, but the grass here was far more vibrant, lush, and healthy, untouched by decay. The air itself seemed to radiate a gentle glow, giving the whole space the illusion of daylight, even though he was clearly deep within the forest.

The ground was a patchwork of flowers—every color, shape, and size imaginable. Their petals swayed gently in the breeze, almost as if dancing in time with the rhythm of the waterfall ahead. The waterfall itself was stunning, the water cascading down into a crystal-clear plunge pool below, its surface shimmering like glass.

1x1x1x1 was momentarily stunned. Such a place felt out of place in the midst of the harsh, decaying forest he had wandered through. It almost seemed unreal—like something from a fantasy that didn’t belong in the world he knew.

But as beautiful as the sight was, it didn’t stir anything in him. He was still the same, unaffected by nature's beauty. He walked toward the waterfall, his footsteps crushing some of the delicate flowers beneath his feet. The landscape was lovely, sure, but to him, it was all just a fleeting thing. It would decay, just like everything else. Sooner or later, everything would die. He couldn't care less.

1x1x1x1's gaze fixated on something in the distance. There, sitting amidst the beauty of the area, was a figure. The presence felt wrong, like a shadow cast upon the otherwise peaceful landscape. Its aura was dark, heavy—completely out of place in this serene, glowing space. 1x1x1x1 squinted, trying to make sense of the figure before him.

As he took a closer look, his eyes widened.

"Jason?" The name slipped from his lips without thinking, an instinctive call.

The figure turned sharply, 1x1x1x1's eyes locking on the two dark holes inside his mask . There was no mistaking it—it was Jason.

Jason sat a few feet away from the plunge pool, his legs curled up against his chest, his posture tense, yet somehow still calm. The contrast between him and the peaceful surroundings was jarring, as though he didn’t belong in this vibrant, almost magical place.

Without another thought, 1x1x1x1 started moving towards him, curiosity bubbling up inside him despite himself. More flowers crunched under his feet being crushed with each step.

"What are you doing here? How did you even find this place?" 1x1x1x1's voice was a sharp question as he loomed over Jason, towering above him. Jason looked up for a brief moment, his gaze meeting 1x1x1x1's, before he lowered his head again, his focus returning to the ground. Jason had always been like this—silent, distant, and reserved. Since the day they met, he had never uttered a single word. The only sounds that came from him were strange noises like "kikiki mamama," typically reserved for when he was hunting down survivors. Around anyone else, Jason remained eerily quiet, like a ghost.

"Right... no point in asking you anything." 1x1x1x1 muttered, shaking his head slightly in frustration. He looked down at Jason, watching him for a moment, then observing what he was doing. Jason seemed fixated on the flowers around him, gently brushing his hand over them and cupping them as if he were studying each one closely. His gaze lingered on a particular white flower that bloomed nearby. 1x1x1x1 let out a sigh, feeling the need to take a break from his wandering. He decided to sit down, just where he stood, and settled onto the soft, grassy ground. He placed both of his swords to his right side before leaning back, using his arms to prop himself up. The ground was surprisingly comfortable, and for a brief moment, 1x1x1x1 allowed himself to relax. Jason, still seated on the ground, glanced his way but quickly returned to his silent fascination with the flower.

1x1x1x1 didn't mind Jason's company—at least not as much as he did with others. Jason was one of the few beings he could tolerate, mostly because he didn’t talk or try to engage in the way others often did. C00lkidd's incessant chatter often grated on his nerves, and John Doe’s words had a way of setting him off. But Jason? He was different. Quiet. Nonchalant. He didn't try to change things or push 1x1x1x1 into unnecessary conversation. That was something 1x1x1x1 could appreciate.

He sighed, scratching at his tangled hair yet again, the irritation bubbling up as his fingers once more got caught in the mess. With a soft grumble, he tugged at his hair in frustration. That was when he noticed Jason—his gaze had shifted from the flowers to 1x1x1x1, his stare locked on him with a focused intensity.

"What are you looking at?" 1x1x1x1 hissed, his voice edged with annoyance as he shot a glare in Jason’s direction. Jason remained still for a moment, unbothered, before pulling a chainsaw from his back. 1x1x1x1 scoffed, watching as Jason pointed the chainsaw toward him. The action was casual, almost as if it were no more than a simple gesture. 1x1x1x1's irritation flared, but he didn’t back down. He simply stared back, unfazed by the weapon pointed in his direction.

1x1x1x1 growled under his breath, his grip tightening around his swords as he stared at Jason, his eyes narrowing with irritation.

"You want to challenge me? What a stupid thing to do!" He hissed, his voice laced with disbelief. He wasn’t sure what the other was up to, but one thing was clear—he wasn’t going to back down from whatever it was.

Jason raised one hand slowly, as if signaling for him to calm down. 1x1x1x1 blinked, slightly confused by the gesture. It seemed like Jason was trying to defuse the situation, but 1x1x1x1 wasn’t convinced. His grip on his swords loosened, but he remained on edge.

"What?" He snapped, still not entirely sure what Jason was trying to communicate. Jason sighed, tapping his chin with his free hand as if deep in thought. The chainsaw lowered slightly, and for a moment, Jason looked like he was trying to figure something out. Then, his face lit up, as if an idea had finally clicked into place. He moved the chainsaw away from his head, then mimicked holding something in his other hand, almost like a brush.

1x1x1x1’s eyes widened as he stared at the bizarre motion.

"You want to...brush my hair...with your...chainsaw?" He asked, his voice a mix of confusion and disbelief. The idea was so strange, he couldn’t help but be baffled by it. It wasn’t even the weirdest thing he’d seen, but still... brushing his hair with a chainsaw? Really?

Jason’s quiet "Ki ki" was all the confirmation 1x1x1x1 needed. He stared at the chainsaw once again, then back at Jason, trying to comprehend the absurdity of it all. A chainsaw. For his hair. But, despite his frustration, the tangles in his hair had been bothering him for what felt like ages. The chainsaw was definitely sturdy. Maybe it was worth a shot, even if it sounded completely ridiculous.

"Fine." He grumbled, crossing his arms, unwilling to admit how badly he wanted his hair to be taken care of. Jason gestured for him to turn around, and reluctantly, 1x1x1x1 obeyed. He sat down in a crisscross position, making it easier for Jason to reach his hair. Jason carefully removed the ponytail holder, placing it beside them before starting to work on the mess that was 1x1x1x1’s hair.

The moment Jason’s fingers tangled in his hair, 1x1x1x1 couldn’t help but hiss in discomfort. His scalp protested with each yank of the thick, stubborn strands as they bucked and tugged under Jason’s hands. Every tug felt like it pulled more than just his hair—it felt like a part of him was being ripped away too. He cursed softly under his breath, swearing a few times as strands were pulled free from his scalp. But Jason didn’t stop, and eventually, the rough brushing slowed. After what felt like an eternity of uncomfortable pulling and occasional growls, he felt a light pat on his back. He turned around, looking back at Jason, unsure of what to expect next.

Jason’s soft "Ki ki ki" rang out as he placed his chainsaw back in its usual spot, his gaze never leaving 1x1x1x1. The moment 1x1x1x1 ran his fingers through his hair, he was half-expecting them to get tangled again, but to his surprise, they didn't catch once. His fingers slid smoothly through the strands, and he was able to run them to the end of his hair without any resistance. Jason quickly wrapped the ponytail holder back around his hair, returning it to the same style it had been before.

1x1x1x1 looked up at Jason, unsure of what to expect. "How...do I look?" he asked, the words feeling somewhat foreign coming from him. Jason didn’t respond, simply staring at him with that same quiet demeanor. 1x1x1x1 blinked, confused, before letting out a sigh.

"...Right." He muttered under his breath, leaning his head into his hand, his other arm wrapped loosely around his legs. As he glanced over at Jason, who had gone back to looking down at the white flower, 1x1x1x1 couldn’t shake the feeling that it looked strangely familiar. He squinted at it, trying to place why it seemed so significant, but the memory remained just out of reach, like something he should’ve known but couldn’t quite remember...

"Is that a...Madonna lily?" 1x1x1x1 tilted his head slightly, glancing from Jason to the flower he'd been admiring. Jason gave a small, silent nod, still focused on the flower. Without warning, he reached down and ripped the lily from the ground, slowly raising it toward 1x1x1x1’s head. With careful hands, Jason placed the delicate flower into 1x1x1x1’s hair, the white petals contrasting against the dark mess of it. He grabbed his chainsaw again, holding it up in front of 1x1x1x1.

1x1x1x1 glanced at his reflection, a frown tugging at the corner of his mouth as he surveyed the lily placed carefully in his hair. His gaze flickered from his reflection to Jason, and he scoffed slightly.

"Hmph. It's...decent." He turned his head away, looking back at the waterfall, trying to hide the softness that was creeping into his tone. Jason didn’t say anything, placing his chainsaw back and gently plucking another lily from the ground. He handed it to 1x1x1x1, who eyed it with hesitation. Slowly, he reached out, taking the flower from Jason’s hand.

"Ki ki ki. Ma." Jason motioned from the lily in 1x1x1x1’s hand to his own eyes and then back to the flower.

"You... think I look like the flower? A Madonna lily?" 1x1x1x1 asked, a hint of annoyance in his voice, but there was something soft in his gaze." Ki ki." Jason slightly nodded then simply looked back at the waterfall, his emotions unreadable due to his mask. 1x1x1x1, still holding the flower, studied it more closely. The petals were pure white, soft yet strong, and the stem and leaves were a gentle green. Tiny red dots dotted the inside of the flower, a sharp contrast against the pale petals. The fragrance was sweet, but not overpowering. It was ...nice. Beautiful, even.

1x1x1x1 felt a strange warmth growing inside him. He looked back at Jason, still lost in the sound of the waterfall, then glanced down at the lily. After a moment’s pause, he raised it to his hair, placing it on the opposite side of where Jason had put the first one, the two flowers now framing his face in a delicate symmetry.

1x1x1x1 slowly rose from the soft grass, his swords in hand. He glanced down at Jason one last time before turning to leave, his footsteps steady and heavy as he began walking back toward the vines. But before he fully turned away, he looked back at Jason, his voice soft, almost too quiet to hear.

"...Thank you. " The words came out reluctantly, as if he didn’t want Jason to hear them, but they still hung in the air between them. Jason didn’t respond, his attention fixed on a red flower in his hand. He gently plucked it, his expression unknown as he continued to study it.

"Kikiki." Jason muttered, not even glancing in 1x1x1x1’s direction. 1x1x1x1 scoffed lightly, rolling his eyes as he continued walking away from the other.

And as he walked he watched where he stepped- making sure not to crush any flowers.
