Like a Moth to the Flame
Jongdae had been drawn towards Minseok from the moment he laid eyes on the butterfly hybrid.
How could he not with his flashy blue and pale violet colours of his hair, the soft blue hues of his wings and his eyes… oh those eyes! They were a pale green, lime green if Jongdae had to guess, and they were framed by dusts of blue on his upper lid and hues of shimmering red below.
Minseok was the prettiest butterfly Jongdae had met so far in his life. And he was way out of Jongdae's league. He, who was a moth with boring greyish-brown everywhere. His hair, his fluff, his wings… everything about him screamed boring.
And yet… yet Minseok seemed to fancy him too. Which felt like a wonder to Jongdae.
But he wouldn't complain. Not. Ever.
At first Jongdae had thought they were too different. Him being a nightly creature and Minseok a day-butterfly. But they had started to make amends for each other from very early on. Minseok stayed up longer to be with Jongdae and sometimes Jongdae would stay awake just to watch Minseok when the first rays of sunshine fell through the window to bathe him in a cool silvery light that made his colours shine even more. On a biological aspect they shouldn't have been compatible. Still they were attracted to each other regardless of what Mother Nature had made them.
But nothing could have prepared Jongdae for the moment Minseok had stepped close to him outside the library one day. Jongdae's breath hitched when Minseok had placed a warm hand on his waist, eyes looking directly into his.
"Dae," Minseok started, his blue wings fluttering slightly behind him. "DaeDae, would you dance with me tonight?"
Jongdae had blinked at Minseok with big eyes, his heart beating rapidly in his chest.
"W…what?"
"Jongdae, you are the most beautiful moth I've ever met. With your fluff and your cute little antennas and don't get me started on your freckles because I want to kiss every single one of them." Minseok took another step closer, taking Jingdae's hand in his and placing a kiss on the back of it. "I know you are the one for me, Jongdae. So please… please let me have this dance with you."
It had been impossible for Jongdae to say no, even when it had been scary. He had been drawn towards Minseok from the moment they met, like he was drawn towards every light.
And Minseok shone brighter than any flame ever could.
"Okay," Jongdae had answered with a bashful smile. "Just promise you won't let go of my hand."
"I promise, DaeDae."
