Work Text:
Dazai did not want this to happen, of course he didn't. If only Mori would have let him do things his way (and when he had the energy to) this whole thing wouldn't have happened. But no, Mori had to have it his way. Dazai was supposed to clean up the absolute mess that is his room. Fair enough, the amount of trash on the floor and the unorganized things everywhere made walking from one end of the room to the other difficult. At least according to Mori, Dazai saw no problem with it. And then one of Dazai's least favourite things happened. Mori sat down on a chair he brought to the doorway of Dazai's room and started giving out instructions.
"Pick up the shirt, and put it on a hanger," And so Dazai did.
"now pick up the socks and put them away." And so Dazai did.
"Now-" he started, but got cut off by Dazai.
"Do we really have to? I hate this." The teen was visibly annoyed with this way of cleaning up. He was tired and the way Mori ordered him around, the way he was so condescending in it. It made Dazai angry, irritated, wanting to cry and and fall on the floor and sleep. It was unreasonable, he knew. But damnit, he can't do anything about it!
"Yes we do have to, because you're a dirty moron and can't even clean up on your own." Came Mori's response and Dazai just couldn't bear it anymore.
He stood back facing Mori, in the middle of his room and started crying. Quietly at first. He hid his face in his hands and sobbed. Thoughts rushing through his head. If only he could do this at his own pace, without being stared at. And oh god, did he feel Mori's eyes burning into his back. He just wanted some peace, he wanted to be able to just do things in the way he's able to, not being ordered around. Not having insults throw at him. But Mori didn't care about him, he just cared about what he did and if he kept up appearances, if he fit into the vision Mori had of him. So he sobbed and sobbed thinking and spiraling, legs shaking-
"You're not going to manipulate me into going away, you'll clean up weather you like it or not"
Manipulate? Did Mori really think Dazai was trying to manipulate him? He was standing there, hyperventilating, shaking, crying and choking on his tears- And that's what Mori thinks?
"You got chills or what? Stop shaking"
God, Dazai wished he could stop, he wished his legs would give up and he'd fall on the floor. He wished Mori cared about him at least a little-
Then, he heard it. Was it a laugh? He listened through his loud sobs. There it is again. Laughter. Mori was laughing at Dazai. Of course he was, this was probably prime entertainment for him. So Dazai continued to sob, shake, cough, hyperventilate. At some point Mori must have gotten bored, because he left.
But he came back, maybe 30 seconds later. Holding a glass of water, but Dazai wouldn't know, his eyes were closed. Then he felt it. Water pouring down on him, hands tearing his own away from his face, sharp slaps across his cheek. And shouting, frazes blurring together in his clouded mind, ultimately carrying the meaning of "get your shit together, or you're getting a a sedative injection in your ass" Dazai didn't want that. He tried to stop crying, oh so desperately.
Then THUMP, he's on the floor. More water, more slaps
"DO YOU FUCKING HEAR ME OR NOT?!"
Dazai tried to nod, to say that he does, but he couldn't. His body didn't do what he wanted it to. He couldn't move, speak. His muscles were tense, still shaking even on the floor, it felt like his whole body was swollen, he smelled his own sweat, disgusting.
Then it was like a blur. The next thing Dazi knows he's sitting on the sofa, he's not crying. But he still can't move or speak. He sits there with Mori next to him, uncomfortable, scared.
Maybe that's why he's scared of him
Maybe that's what he doesn't remember
