Chapter Text
I was dreading class. New school was never fun, and now i'd been sent to one on a boat?! My parents moved around too much to keep me in a school for more than a few months, so this was the only solution they'd found. And now was trapped.
I went to the teacher's desk and she smiled at me, “Yn Yln?”
“That's me,” i nodded.
She led me to my seat at the back, next to the only empty seat in the classroom. I sat down and she went back to the front and started the lesson.
I payed attention for about ten minutes. That was when he turned up.
“Zack, you're late again, what happened?” the teacher frowned.
“Sorry, Ms Tutweiler, my alarm didn’t go off,” he shrugged.
He looked like he didn’t care about any of this either, like he was bored already, until he looked up and saw me. Then his face lit up and god, he was beautiful. There was a smirk plastered onto his face as he sat down next to me, “i’ve not seen you around.”
I couldn’t even speak, it was like i was paralysed; he had me in a trance. “What’s your name, cutie?” he scooted his desk closer to mine.
“Y-Yn,” i managed to get out, i didn’t know what had come over me - i wasn’t usually like this.
“Well, i’m Zack, and it’s great to meet you,” he leaned his head on his hand as he looked at me, “i’ll show you around the ship after class?”
“Please,” i nodded, maybe a little too eager but i didn’t care, because he smiled his beautiful smile.
“Zack, i understand that you’re introducing yourself, but i’m gonna need you both to be quiet, please,” Ms Tutweiler said, she seemed lovely, but i could tell she was a little sick of Zack. Though i didn’t understand it, i could never get sick of him.
(cut to their first argument ha ..but not really)
I spent the rest of the lesson trying and failing to pay attention, i couldn’t help sneak glances at Zack, who was either daydreaming or smirking at me.
“Oh, Yn, before everybody leaves, i was going to ask Cody here to show you around a little,” the teacher pulled me out of my daydream.
Before i could respond, Zack spoke up, “i’ve already promised to show Yn around actually.”
“Of course you have,” Ms Tutweiler nodded, “well, as long as you behave, and don’t get in Mr Moseby’s way.”
“Never,” Zack smirked, and before i knew it, he grabbed my hand and whisked me off to the Sky Deck.
“Have you ever been on a cruise ship before?” he asked, his hand still holding mine.
I shook my head.
“Are you always this quiet?” he chuckled.
I shook my head again, not knowing why i couldn’t get any words out.
He smirked, “i’m just that hot, huh?”
I nodded that time, and he suddenly pulled me to hide as a manager walked past. “That’s Mr Moseby,” he whispered, “we gotta wait for him to go back that way.”
I raised a brow at him and he held up a bottle of paint. Oh god. “Would you like to do the honours?” he smirked, holding it out to me. I took it from him, and as soon as Mr Moseby was out of view, i got up and poured the whole bottle into the hot tub. “Now, we run,” he pulled me away, taking the long way to the next class, and telling me where we were each time we ran through a different room. “Aaand this is math,” he panted as we stopped at the door, making me laugh as we went to sit down.
It wasn’t long at all until an angry Moseby was at our door, “Ms Tutweiler, could i please borrow Zack for a moment?”
“It wasn’t me!” he defended.
“Oh, really?” he glared.
“I swear,” his hands went up in defence and he looked at me, seeming to get an idea.
“What is it that he didn’t do, Mr Moseby?” the teacher sighed.
“Green bubbles,” he said angrily, making everyone laugh a little, “the sky deck is covered. And he’s going to clean every inch of it up.”
“Mr Moseby, i-”
“Didn’t do it?” he hissed, “then who did?”
He pointed at me, to shock of everyone in the room, and told him, “it was Yn.”
I stared at him in shock, as Mr Moseby looked at me, collecting himself before asking, “is this true…?”
“Well i- i mean- it wasn’t..” i spluttered out in shock, i couldn’t believe he’d done that. “Yeah, it was me…”
There were a few gasps around the room, including from Mr Moseby, but he stayed mostly professional and glared me down, “then you’ll be cleaning up every inch of the sky deck. After class. Don’t be late.”
I sulked into my chair as everyone turned around to look at us, “that was a dick move, Zack.”
“I told the truth,” he shrugged.
“Your brother’s right,” Ms Tutweiler shook her head, “that wasn’t very nice of you.” So they were brothers, i figured as much. Maybe the brother was nicer and i could talk to him instead… but Zack was just that much hotter. Sigh.

It took me hours to clean the deck; Mr Moseby had closed it off for the passengers for the day after our prank, and just as i was almost finished, he walked over to me. “Yn, right?”
I nodded, looking up at him sheepishly.
“I don’t know if you’re covering for Zack for some reason, or if this was actually you, but i don’t need another Zack Martin on my ship!” he started quiet but ended in a yell, “if you get involved with him, you’ll have to get used to days like this,” he pointed at the cloth in my hand.
“I’m sorry, Mr Moseby,” i mumbled, not really knowing what to say - i’d been here a day and i was already in trouble with the head of the freakin’ ship.
There were footsteps behind me as i sighed, cleaning the last bit and then taking the equipment back to the cleaning closet, shoving it all in. I was then, however, stuck in the closet, as Zack appeared at the door with a smirk, “hey you.”
Fuck, he was hot. I wanted so bad to be mad at him, but i just couldn't do it. I managed to glare at him, though, and he tilted his head innocently.
“Still quiet, huh?” he smirked, “are you mad at me?” I tried to shove past him and he stopped me, “come on, don't be like that.”
“You did that on purpose,” i huffed, giving up on getting out of the closet.
“Honestly? Wasn't my plan, it just worked well for me,” he shrugged. Then stepped closer to me when i didn't say anything, “i'll make it up to you?”
“How?”
He slowly placed one hand on my hip, giving me plenty of time to pull away but instead, i let him pull me close. I looked up at him hesitantly, but my eyes quickly fluttered shut as he kissed me.
I read a lot of books, and i always rolled my eyes at the spark the characters felt when they kissed; always thought it was a load of crap. But, oh my god, now i felt it. It was like fireworks in my brain and lightening in my skin and fire in my soul and i never wanted it to end. His arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me closer, and i wrapped my arms around his neck, running my fingers through his hair softly as i kissed him. I was utterly and completely lost in him.
He pulled away too soon and smirked down at me, “forgive me?” I stared up at him, breathless, nodding as i leaned up to kiss him again, but he chuckled and pulled me out of the closet, “how about we find somewhere better to do this?”
He grabbed my hand and led me away, “where are we going then?”
“Well, i have my own cabin if you wanted to hang out,” he told me, and i expected a comment or at least a smirk, but nothing. He had such a genuine look on his face and all i wanted to do was spend more time with him so i agreed. And to my surprise, he didn’t even try anything once we got up to his cabin; i had to make the move.
He’d showed me around and told me what had happened with the whole roommate situation, and now i wanted him. However, i didn’t want him to know how eager i was, because i’d acted eager enough already, i couldn’t work out what it was about this guy - i was downbad. But i couldn’t take it anymore and i kissed him. He seemed a little taken aback but that didn’t stop him from kissing back. He was leant against his headboard and quickly pulled me onto his lap as the kiss deepened. It was needy and desperate and hot. I wanted him so bad. But he pulled away, again, too soon.
“Zack…”
“Wait, i just- are you sure you wanna do this?” he asked me, keeping me close as his hands went to my hips.
“More than anything,” i nodded, and he kissed me again.
