Chapter Text

Somewhere in San Fransokyo.....

"3, 2, 1, action!"

"Looking for a way to bring yourself closer to people," The narrator said. "and share the things you like?"

"Well, lucky for you, here it is!" The narrator, who turns out to be Globby, said as the camera turned to him. "Welcome to-" He was about to say it until he forgot what to day. "Uh, hang on.. Okie dokie!" He interrupted, before the cameras rolled again.

"This is PictoGram! A new app that allows you to share the things you love and bring yourself clower to people! I'm sure you can make new friends there, am I right?" Globby explained as he walked around, passing by lots of people who were on their cellphones. "Our mission is to foster a safe and supportive community for everyone! Which is why we're here!"

"Hey blondie, you need to rest your eyes." Nega-Globby said as he approached Regina, who was on her phone, trying to take a picture.

"Nope, not that kind of community." Globby said. "Can someone tell my royal-purple doppleganger to stay out of my way?! Please!"

"Hey, if I were you, then I would not say that on camera-" Nega-Globby commanded, until he hears a buzz from his phone.

"This is to inform you that you PictoGram (Or PG) account is temporary blocked due to a violation of our terms of service."

"Hey that's not fair!" Nega-Globby said as he left.

"Sorry about that. Moving on.." Globby said, before he continued his walk. "In there, is where you can explore what's new, browse reels, posts, stories, chat with anyone, find something new. and shop what you like!" He added. 

"With PictoGram, you can share what you're into, with the people who get you!"

As he narrated, lots of posts popped up on the camera.

SFIT Dormitories….

One afternoon, Aiko was in her room, looking through her notebook. Rishi suddenly enters the room, powering off his hoverboard and placing it on his closet. He looked at Aiko in concern, so he asked,

“What’s up, Aiko?”

Looking him in the eye, Aiko closed her notebook and spoke up and said,

“Fine, I’m not okay.”

“Why?” Rishi asked her.

“Because I’m unsure with this song I’m writing!” Aiko exclaimed in anger, much to her roommate’s shock, “It is my first time writing a song for myself!” She explained while pacing, “Even with Karmi’s ideas, it doesn’t help.”

After Aiko slammed her body towards the couch, Rishi sat beside her and advised her,

“I’m not a songwriter myself, but maybe you should look on the bright side.”

Aiko looked at him and listened as he spoke.

“Maybe you can write a song about who you are, how you feel, or how to overcome everything..”

Composing herself, Aiko stood up and began to sing.

24 hours, for a teenage girl (mm)

That’s needed to go on adventures….

Rishi looked at Aiko as she danced around, even getting a video game controller…

….playing games with friends

…and giving it to him.

Lately (lately), living life

Aiko then opened the door of the room and exited, with Rishi following her in confusion.

Been praying for people who could always trust me

The Streets….

Aiko walked on the sidewalks as she sang, while Rishi followed her. Regina was sitting on a nearby bench, watching her and smiling.

So, bye-ye-ye, bye, bye, bye

To all the trauma I had (since childhood)

“Does she know whatever heck she’s doing?” Rishi asked Regina.

“I don’t know.” Regina replied, “But whatever she’s doing, I don’t mind it. She’s just..”

..Living an Aikonic life

Ignoring the haters, there’s no going down

Aiko then ran towards her sister whilst avoiding the grasp of a tall man who tried to grab her.

My sister told me, "Live an Aikonic life”

No matter where you go

Don’t let go of your dreams

Finally, Hiro, who was riding his scooter, passed by and waved at her.

“Hey Aiko!” He exclaimed at her, “You did a great job there!”

“Thanks!” Aiko exclaimed at her friend.

At the same time, Fred exited a nearby store and gave her a high five.

“Your voice is so charming!” He told her.

“Aww, thanks!” Aiko thanked him for his kind works.

Just then, Hiro walked up towards the group.

“Hey guys! Just parked my ride over there.” He greeted them. 

He then turned his attention towards Aiko.

“Liked how you confidently sang in public.” He commended her, “As for me, I hate singing!”

Aiko looked at her friends and said,

“Thanks guys!”

“I’m sure Karmi is proud of you.” Regina told her sister.

“See, Roomie.” Rishi said, “It takes time to get out of a songwriting block.”

As Rishi said that, the friends then shared a group hug. Aiko smiled and was in tears.

“On the other hand, if you didn’t notice but, I think I saw someone tried to hold you back there, Screenfiend.” Fred then spoke, much to everyone else’s shock.

San Fransokyo Institute of Technology….

“Hello guys!” Regina said to the camera, “Right now, I’m in my alma mater and nope! It’s not SFAI at all!”

She was walking around the campus while recording herself. It was like she was vlogging her life in school.

“The school I’m studying at right now is San Fransokyo Institute of Technology!” She gleefully said, “I focus on chemistry and biology mostly. Also speaking of biology, I should run to the cafe!”

She then pointed the camera to the Periodic Table Cafe. She then walked towards it and entered through the door. The cafe was full of students and teachers eating their meals, with some ordering meals at the counter. Some are just hanging out with friends. Regina is a good example, since she always hangs out with Aiko, Karmi, Hiro, Rishi, Fred, and a couple more friends. She then started walking towards the table where Rishi, Aiko and Karmi were seated.

“So, how’s your internship, Aikonic?” Rishi asked his friend, who was using her laptop.

“Oh! Well, it’s going great!” Aiko replied to his question, “I met a couple of new friends, especially this girl who likes Science.”

As she said that, Aiko thought of something.

“Speaking of that, I heard that a big sister of mine is starting a vlog channel..” She muttered, “I wonder how it’s going.”

Just then, Regina arrives at the table.

“Now here I am introducing y’all guys to my friends!” She then said to the camera, before pointing it at the others, “Say hi!!”

“Hello!” Everyone else said.

“Oh my gosh! Are you vlogging this?” Karmi then asked her roommate in shock, “I tried that before!”

“Yup..” Regina replied, “It’s for my channel. If you look at it on MeowTube, you can see some of my videos uploaded there!”

Aiko then opened the MeowTube page on her laptop and typed “Regina Watanabe” on the search bar.

“Umm.. What’s the name of your channel, by the way..?” Rishi asked Regina.

“It’s called “A Recap of Gina’s Moments” and it has a thousand subscribers.” Regina answered Rishi’s question.

“A small MeowTuber!” Aiko gasped, “We should subscribe to her channel.”

Suddenly, Regina notices that someone is not at their table. She knows who that “someone” is. So she reluctantly asked,

“Speaking of that, has anyone seen Hiro?”

“He got a mission-” Aiko replied. However, Rishi shushed her as she was about to say that.

“Aiko..! You know we should keep his superhero identity a secret.” He whispered to his friend, before turning his attention to Regina, “What she was saying is that Hiro is practically busy right now.”

“So that’s why he isn’t at SFIT right now..” Karmi muttered, “Great.. Was gonna give this one to him.”

Karmi then pulled out a purple box with red accents.

“This was meant to be my gift for his birthday, but I wasn’t in the city at that time.” She explained., “Also, if anyone’s wondering, I based the color from his favorite Big Hero 6 member, Captain Cutie!”

“Ooh!” Regina chorused.

Just then, the bell rang, forcing Regina to end her vlog.

“It’s the bell!” She exclaimed, “Looks like I have to close this vlog here.” She added, “Thank you guys so much for watching, see you guys next time!”

“Should we say bye?” Karmi asked. Regina nodded and pointed the camera to the others.

“Byeeeeeee!” Everyone chorused, ending the vlog.

“What’s on my Phone: BH6 Edition”

Hiro: Well, I have this app called Block Fever. I just place random shapes to clear rows and columns! I’ve been playing these during free time at school and in Krei Tech.

Fred: My turn! I have a couple of more games such as Mind Turbo Smith 4-

Hiro: Mind Smith Turbo 4?! I didn’t know it just came out!”

Fred: Yeah cause you were in your internship that day.

Baymax: Fred. Playing games for a prolonged time could produce eye strain.

Gogo: He’s right. Now’s my turn to reveal whatever’s on my cellphone. Its gallery is full of speedy cars and motorbikes. I also have a RideShare just in case I’m getting late and the train hasn’t arrived.

Honey Lemon: Wait a second? Are you guys doing a “What’s on my Phone” type of thing?

Baymax: Yes.

Honey Lemon: Ooh can I have a go?

Hiro: Sure.

Honey Lemon: If you guys are talking games, I have this app called Rhythm Coaster! It is a rhythm game where I play K-Pop and J-Pop songs to rank on the top of the leaderboard!

Wasabi: Is 42 Sing available?

Honey Lemon: Yes!

Fred: What about you, Wasabi?

Wasabi: I’ve never revealed things on my phone. But since we’re in the base, I guess I should..

Gogo: Tell us..

Wasabi: Simple. Just social media and meditation apps. I also have Musify.

Baymax: Musify is the most populous app in San Fransokyo.

Fred: Right? Couldn’t miss a day without music from Musify!

Hiro: To whoever’s reading this extra, what are the things on your phone right now?

One afternoon, Nega enters his hangar to do something.

“Hey HangarMax!” He greeted the AI, “Can you start the cameras, please?”

“You mean the camera on the stand you set up just a few hours ago?” Before doing anything, HangarMax asked him.

“Yes..” Nega replied, “That’s what I’m using.”

“Then so be it!” HangarMax then started the recording.

Nega then faced the camera and greeted it,

“Hello fellow Goo-sers! The room I’m in right now is my room!”

Nega then walked towards the bathroom, which contained a sink and two toilets, with a room for each toilet.

“This is the bathroom! Looks so unique, right?” Nega spoke, pointing at the sink, “This is the sink, and behind these two doors, there is a toilet in each of them.”

“And why do you need two toilets for one bathroom?” HangarMax asked him.

Nega turned towards the AI and replied,

“Well, Rishi and Aiko both have an addiction to spending time here.”

Nega then walked out of the bathroom and to the kitchen. The kitchen was equipped with an oven, a fridge, and a counter. It also came with a pantry, which houses the utensils.

“This is where our food is from!” He exclaimed, “This kitchen has a lot to offer. Most specifically, a very “Nega” diet!”

“There’s nothing wrong with being healthy, right?” HangarMax then said to the audience.

Finally, Nega walked to the beds. There were two beds, with a teal blanket and pillows. Each bed could fit two people. Nega then sat on the bed on the left. That bed faces the kitchen.

“This is where I sleep every night and in sleepovers.” He said, “Hey HangarMax!”

“Yes, Nega?” The AI responded.

“When is my next sleepover scheduled?” Nega asked him.

“Let me look at your schedules…” HangarMax muttered, “It seems that you don’t have any sleepovers scheduled here at this moment.”

Nega sighed in relief. He has much of the hangar’s space for him for the night.

“But you have one scheduled in Lucky Cat Cafe, hosted by Hiro.”

That wasn’t the response Nega expected. But it was a signal for him to walk towards his closet, which was on the right side, facing the other bed.

“Thank you so much for telling me!” Nega thanked HangarMax for the reminder. Haven’t be been reminded beforehand, he would miss the occasion.

“You’re welcome. Now hurry up, otherwise you’ll be late.” HangarMax responded, “The sleepover starts in-”

“An HOUR!!!!!” Nega frantically exclaimed, “The distance between the base and the cafe is very long.”

He also knows that even taking the train wouldn’t save him some time. 

“Before I go, this ends my room tour..!” He said just as he walked towards the door, “Now I hope I get to the cafe in time…” He muttered, before turning his eyes towards HangarMax.

“HangarMax, please turn off the camera for me. I have to go, bye!” He told the AI.

“Already on it, Nega.” HangarMax replied and turned off the camera, “Stay safe!”

After watching Nega exit the base, HangarMax powers off.

The Streets….

Seated on his scooter, Hiro was waiting outside of the Red Line’s entrance. Baymax is not with him, judging by how the black box-shaped compartment was installed in contrast to Baymax’s charging box.

“Hey Hiro!” Just then, a voice of a certain blonde-haired girl was heard.

Hiro then glanced at the entrance in response, where Nata was exiting the station. She looked noticeably different. Hence, her hair being much shorter.

“Nata!” Hiro exclaimed as Nata got onto the scooter, “Great timing!” He complimented her before giving her another helmet.

“Thanks! The subway isn’t busy, which is good at least.” Nata replied as she received and wore the helmet.

In no time, Hiro and Nata were driving through the city, headed for Krei Tech, where their internship takes place.

“So, how’s summer break going?” Nata asked Hiro, who was driving the scooter.

“It’s going pretty well, I guess..” He replied.

“Well. Except Mr. Krei is calling us all for work today..” Nata muttered in dismay.

Krei Tech Industries….

“I can’t believe Mr. Krei allowed me to move into your lab, Hiro.” Nata told Hiro as they rode the elevator.

The two eventually arrived at the office and were carrying boxes. It was full of things Nata brought for the lab. They passed by Mr. Krei’s office and finally entered their lab.

“Here you are, Nata.” Hiro said to his best friend, before turning on the lights of his lab, “Welcome to my lab, which Krei made it your new area!

“Wow, it looks so futuristic here..!” Nata was very stunned about how the lab looked, “But a little messy..”

“I wanted it to be designed like that.” Hiro replied, “If only I had time to go to Tadashi’s grave to talk with him…”

“Speaking of that, I should get to work setting up everything.” Nata said as she walked towards her things.

The first item she got out of the box is her monitor. Hiro looked at her desk, which was already equipped with a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

“Nata? I don't think you need another monitor.” He told her, “Someone already provided one for-”

“Me?” Nata replied, “Well, I like having two monitors.”

Nata then placed her monitor beside the monitor on her table.

“I like multitasking!” She then said, “Now, what I need is a drawing pad.”

As she said that, Nata walked towards the box and took her drawing pad with it. Hiro watched as she continuously went back in fourth in a hurry to put almost everything into her desk. He started to worry when he noticed that everything in the desk was getting full overtime.

“Nata? I think that’s all..” He muttered to his friend.

“That’s all?” Nata gasped in shock, “Trust me. I have to fill up my desk until all of the space is taken!”

However, when Nata placed one of her hands on the desk, she accidentally knocked over a book. One by one, everything on her desk fell off, making her setup a complete mess. Looking at how her desk became so messed up, she felt disappointed.

Seeing how sad his friend was, Hiro went up to her and wiped her tears, before giving her an embrace.

“I know it is very hard to make things very organized. But maybe try not to overdo it.” He told her, “I mean, there is no such thing as perfection.”

Hearing this, Nata stood up and cleaned up the mess she unintentionally made. She also accepted the fact that everything she does not need in her desk should be kept. 

After some time, both Hiro and Nata were working on their desks when Krei suddenly passed by the lab.

“Oh! Hey Mr. Krei!” Hiro greeted him.

“Hello to the both of you!” Mr. Krei replied and entered the lab, “It’s nice that you finished unpacking everything, Nata.”

Nata looked at him and said,

“Thanks. Also, I learned that there’s no such thing as perfection. No matter how we do things perfectly, it sometimes fails!”

“Suit yourself!” Mr. Krei exclaimed, before he made his way to the exit, “Meanwhile, I have to help Rich set up her cubicle.”

As Krei walked to the door, he accidentally hit a newly-assembled robot. The robot arm fell off. And so did all parts of the robot. In response, Hiro and Nata chucked while the CEO picked up the arm.

“See. I told you.” Nata said.

“There’s no such thing as perfection, Mr. Krei.” Hiro then said.

“I get it. I get it.” Mr. Krei replied.

Ever heard of social media messaging apps? Well, what we have here is a messaging app used by all of San Fransokyo! It is called "The Cord". It works like PictoGram, but except its for messaging only.

One summer afternoon, Hiro and Chief Cruz were driving down the streets on the former’s scooter.

“I’m thankful that you used a couple of your internship hours just to pick me up.” Chief Cruz said to Hiro, “Thank you, Hiro.”

“You’re welcome, Chief.” Hiro, who was seated on the driver’s seat, replied. “Actually, Krei gave me a day off from my internship. I’m glad that I could take a break from all those fiascoes.”

Just as the scooter reached a red light, a black van swerved through the line and drove past the light.

“What in the world is with them?!” Hiro exclaimed, “That black van had the nerve to overtake me without a signal!”

“Even more, the driver just drove past a red light!” Chief Cruz added.

Once the light turned green, Hiro sped off and drove past the buildings. And while driving, the two saw the black van once again, this time, following them.

“Not that van again..” Hiro muttered.

“I don’t think what they’re doing is right..” Chief Cruz muttered in concern. 

Turns out, the van was driving without a license. Even more, the van drove closer towards the boys. Hiro glanced at his scooter’s side mirror, where he could see the driver of the van.

“I think I know who’s driving.” Hiro said as he changed lines.

As for Chief Cruz, he looked at the windows of the van. Turns out, amongst the passengers of the van was a specific criminal..

“The driver’s wearing a blue and yellow tracksuit.” Chief Cruz described, to which Hiro got an idea of who the driver was.

“It’s Yama and his men!” Hiro exclaimed, “He’s the only person I know so far who wears a blue tracksuit.” He explained.

“No wonder why they’re tailgating us..” Chief Cruz muttered, “Try losing them.”

As Chief Cruz said that, Hiro sped up his scooter and said,

“Hold on!”

The scooter sped through the streets and into Torii Gate Bridge, where there was a big traffic, where Hiro switched lines. The van was going to do the same, but a truck blocked its way.

“Aw come on!” Yama exclaimed as he and his men lost the boy.

To make matters worse, a police car was driving beside the black van. It overtook the van, causing both vehicles to crash.

“Are we going to jail?” The driver asked.

Eventually, Hiro and Chief Cruz drove on the other side of the bridge, watching as the police interrogated Yama and his team.

“Nice driving, Hiro!” Chief Cruz complimented the boy’s driving, “And also, you did an amazing job losing them in traffic.”

“It’s not much of a deal.” Hiro replied as the scooter continued driving on the bridge, giving the boys a good view.
