Evan Hate’s basketball(The Surprise of life)

Summary:

Life, always has a way to keep them surprised.

Notes:

It's here! I am back. I took a unplanned "hiatus" from writing. Have some things going on in my own life, and then there's the Bobby Nash of it all 😭, which I am still crying about.

Here is my last(OFFICIALLY) chapter to Kinard Family Begins.

I am asking, PLEASE suspend your belief on this one. There is some major inaccuracies, though according to research, could also happen. And, excuse any mistakes in the writing.

I hope you enjoy and THANK YOU so much for following along.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Buck pushed the stroller into the gym, looking for an open space for him and his 4 kids who weren’t on the basketball court that early Saturday morning. Buck really, REALLY hated basketball. But, for Evie he’d move heaven and earth to watch her play. And getting to see Tommy out there being the hottest coach he ever laid eyes on made it even more worth it.

Finally finding a space to park the double stroller that held Jax and Iris, Buck turned and got Lissy and Vivi settled before sitting down himself. He’d been feeling nauseous the past few weeks, but every time he took a pregnancy test it came out negative. Tommy kept telling him they would get pregnant when the time was right. It had been a year since Tommy had the vasectomy reversal surgery, and 8 months since they actively started trying for baby number 6.

“Oh, my.” A shocked older voice came from beside Buck, and he looked up, being sure none of the kids were doing anything that they shouldn’t be. “Do you and your wife run a daycare?” The older woman asked looking at Buck.

“Uhh, Husband actually and no. They are all ours, well the four here and our oldest on the team.”

“DADDY!” Buck heard and turned to see Evie running over to him.

“Hey, baby. Are you ready for today?” Buck asked. Ignoring the shocked expression on the older woman’s face.

“I am. Dad says all we have to do is our best.”

“Well, he is absolutely right.”

“Whoa, say that again.” Tommy said coming up and leaning down to kiss Buck quickly.

“I will not.” Buck joked.

“Oh, is this your significant other?” The older lady asked. The same look of shock on her face.

“Most people just call me his husband, I’m Tommy.” Tommy said reaching out with his hand. The lady didn’t take it, and he let it drop, looking over at Buck with confusion written on his face.

“Oh, and you’re one of the coaches of the team?”

“Yeah. Head coach actually.”

“My dad’s the best coach.”

“Oh, I’m sure he is sweetie. Maybe just not for little girls basketball.”

“Wh-what do you mean?” Evie asked, instant sadness in her voice. And Tommy pulled her into his arms.

“Hey, please don’t speak to my daughter. I don’t appreciate what you’re insinuating about my husband. He has 4 girls and loves each of them. Trust me, those girls are probably safest with him as their coach….”

“Hey, Ev, it’s okay. Not here.” Turning and kneeling down in front of Evie. “It’s okay sweetie. It’s fine. Let’s go get ready okay?”

“She was being mean, wasn’t she?”

“It’s okay. Let’s not listen to her, okay?”

Evie nodded her head and tucked herself further into Tommy’s arms. “Hey, babe there’s some space over on the other bench. Let me help you move over there?” Tommy said, not so subtly insinuating not wanting to leave his family sitting by this woman who assumed she knew Buck and Tommy.

“Yeah, Lys, Viv please put your stuff away for a minute. Papa’s going to help us move.”

“Yes sir.” The two girls chimed together and put there things away as Tommy unlocked the wheels of the stroller and moved his family away from such clear hate.

“Look, I know it’s going to bother you all day, but just set it aside for the game and for Evie? And you can scream at me about it later okay?” Tommy smiled at Buck, and he felt all his annoyance and anger melt. Yes, he was angry at how rudely his family was just treated. But Tommy was right they were there for Evie.

God, Buck really hated basketball.

“Are you sure you waited long enough, babe?” Tommy asked Evan from their bed as Evan stood disappointed in their bathroom at another negative pregnancy test.

“Of course I did. Maybe, I don’t know Tommy. It’s negative. That’s all I know for sure.”

Tommy smiled and stood from the bed and walked into the bathroom wrapping his arms around his husband from behind. “So take another one. We practically bought stock in pregnancy tests.”

Evan sighed and leaned back into him. “Tommy, I don’t know what this is. I feel nauseous and tired, and my chest. God my chest is sore. I just, we’ve been trying for months. And none of the other kids took this long. I feel, frustrated.” Evan let the words explode from his mouth as Tommy watched the tears fill his eyes.

Tommy turned Evan around so he could cup his face. “Then we stop trying. Look, you’re stressed out. And that isn’t good for trying to make a baby. Let’s just go back to us. Spontaneous, whenever the mood strikes get off this schedule. It’s not working, and baby I miss just being with you without having to make sure I’m not going to mess up your schedule. I love you, and I want to have another baby with you. See you looking sexy as hell, pregnant with my baby again. We’re going to have another baby. When it’s the right time.” Tommy said leaning in to kiss Evan quickly pulling back and smiling at his husband.

Evan ran his fingers along Tommy’s bare abdomen, causing the muscles to flinch and Tommy to close his eyes briefly at the warm sensation that ran straight to his dick. “Sexy hu?” Evan asked, looking up at Tommy through his eye lashes.

“Mmhm.” Tommy said, pushing Evan back so he was resting against the counter.

“A-are the kids all in bed?” Evan asked, pulling Tommy’s hip's tighter against him.

“Oh yeah. All of them out like lights.”

“Good. W-would tonight be spontaneous? Right now? Cause I have been wanting you all day, watching you out on the court, looking sexy and hot. If it weren’t inappropriate I would have let you fuck me in the middle of the basketball court.”

“Yeah?” Tommy asked leaning in to bite Evan’s neck lightly, pulling a gasp and a moan from Evan.

“Oh, Tommy. Please. Take me to bed. Now.” Evan begged and Tommy didn’t hesitate, he lifted Evan from his place against the counter and carried him to their bed, throwing him down once they reached it.

“Ohh, fuck.” Evan gasped wrapping his legs around Tommy’s waist and pulled him down on top of him.

“Eager?” Tommy joked, grinding their hips together.

“Shut up.” Evan pouted.

“Kiss me.” Tommy said pulling Evan’s lips to his own. Reaching for the lube in their bedside table he set it down beside Evan’s hip and pulled at the waist band of Evan’s sweats to get them off. “Help, take these off Evan.” Tommy said as he pulled away from his husband.

It didn’t take long for either of them to be fully undressed and pressed against each other as Tommy worked Evan open, whispering encouraging words into his ear. Evan whining and becoming more desperate. “Tommy, please. I’m ready.” He gasped out.

Tommy shifted so he could line himself up with Evan and pushed inside his warm body. Tommy groaned as he slid into his husband, bottoming out and holding still gasping for breath. “Fuck, Evan you always feel so good.”

“T-Tommy…” Evan gasped and reached for Tommy. “Move, please baby. I need you to move.”

“N-not yet. Come here. I just want to feel you. Just want to…” Tommy gasped as he pulled Evan up, so he was now sitting in Tommy’s lap. “Wrap your legs baby.” Tommy said. Holding Evan tightly against him.

“Ohh, god Tommy. Please. Baby. Please.” Evan begged and Tommy kissed him, slowly rocking Evan’s hips against Tommy. “Oh, yes. Fuck. I love you, Tommy.”

Tommy moved Evan faster against him, adjusting his position so he hit Evan’s prostate and Evan let out a small scream. Biting down onto Tommy’s shoulder and Tommy chuckled.

“Shhhh, you’ll wake the kids.” Tommy gasped as he rocked Evan faster.

“Nghhh, a-again, ahhh, Tommy do that again.” Evan asked and Tommy gave him what he asked for.

Tommy rocked Evan against him, both men moaning and gasping as they chased their pleasure with each other. “Oh, Ev, I’m gonna… I can’t… shit, Evan, Evan, Fuck” Tommy tried his hardest to wait for him. But he’d been needing this for so long he just couldn’t hold back his orgasm, releasing deep inside his husband.

Evan moaned and threw his head back, his own orgasm hitting him as soon as Tommy started to release in him. Evan moved his head forward and rested his forehead against Tommy’s. “Wow. I-I have no… wow.” Evan said and Tommy chuckled. Leaning in to kiss Evan.

“If you aren’t pregnant after that…” Tommy joked, and Evan laughed along.

“Oh you’re funny, Kinard.” Evan laughed and kissed Tommy again. “But just to make sure, let’s go again.”

Tommy chuckled “Five minutes, baby. Five minutes.”

“Not a second more.” Evan said pulling back and leaning into capture Tommy’s lips in a kiss.

Tommy smiled against Evans mouth and whispered “Insatiable.”

“Only for you baby.” Tommy growled as soon as the words left Evan’s lips and captured him in another searing kiss, already feeling himself growing hard once again while still inside his husband.

Tommy rolled over to pull Evan closer and groaned instead as he rolled into a wet spot on the bed. Opening his eyes, Tommy looked down and felt a twinge of panic as he caught sight of the red color on the sheet. “Ev, baby where are you?” Tommy called out into the dark. Leaning over the side of the bed, his eyes catching sight of Evan curled up on his side face contorted in pain.

Tommy quickly jumped from the bed and moved to gather Evan into his arms. “Baby, tell me what’s wrong.”

“D-don’t know. I felt something wet and went to get up and go in the bathroom and my back started hurting I couldn’t walk. Oh, god it hurts Tommy.”

“Okay, okay. Shhhh. What do you want me to do?” Tommy asked trying to sooth his husband and keep his own panic at bay.

“Call, M-Maddie. Hospital.” Evan managed to gasp out as his face scrunched in pain once more.

Tommy quickly stood from his position and raced to his side of the bed once more, grabbing his phone and quickly dialing Maddie’s phone number, pulling on his sweats as he waited for her to answer.

“Hello?” A very groggy voice came over the line.

“Madd’s it’s Tommy. Hey, I need you to come be with the kids. Somethings wrong with Evan and I need to get him to the Emergency Room.”

“What? Okay, yeah. What happened?” Maddie asked, more awake then when she first answered.

“I don’t fully know. There’s blood, I-I-I don’t know Maddie. Please, how fast can you get here?”

“I’m on my way now. If you need to go, have Rose come sit in the living room, don’t wait for me. They are all sleeping right?”

“Yeah, all sound asleep. Okay. I’ll call her. Thanks Maddie.” Tommy said, still trying to tamp down his worry for his husbands health.

“T-Tommy, oh god Tommy. Help me.” Evan yelled over to him.

“I’m here, baby, I’m right here. What do you need?” Tommy asked and then gasped as he checked Evan over for any clue as to what was happening. “Ev, baby, do you feel that?”

“F-feel what? Everything just hurts.” Evan whined trying to look up at Tommy.

“Okay, well don’t panic. I am going to help turn you on your back, and I need you to push baby. Because, um well, you’re having a baby.” Tommy said reaching up to gather some pillows off their bed to help lay Evan against.

“Tommy, no. I’m not preg… AHHHH, oh god.”

“Yeah, baby push. The baby is right there. It won’t take long.” Tommy said, running soothing hands over his husbands thighs. “I’m right here, just, push as hard as you can baby.” Tommy said moving his hands down to guide their surprise baby out.

Evan pushed, taking deep breaths and bearing down listening to Tommy’s voice as he counted him through it. “Yes, good Ev, that’s perfect. Relax, one more push and you’ll have them in your arms Ev.” Tommy said looking up at Evan with a smile.

“All this time… I-I didn’t know.” Evan said tears springing to his eyes.

“I know baby, I know. It’s okay. Deep breath. Lets push our baby out on three okay?” Evan nodded and Tommy counted to three as Evan pushed and groaned and the baby was out and let out a piercing cry to announce their disagreement at being pulled from their home for how ever long Evan has been pregnant.

“Is it?” Evan asked and looked at Tommy.

“A boy, baby. It’s a boy.” Evan cried and reached out for their son, Tommy gently laid him on Evan’s chest.

“Oh, hi baby boy. You were quite the surprise weren’t you?” Evan said as Tommy moved up beside him. Placing his hand against Evan’s on the baby’s back. “And you’re brother is going to be so excited to have another little boy in the house.” Evan said, looking up at Tommy.

“I love you.” Tommy whispered leaning down to gently kiss Evan. “Let me call Rose, and I think we need faster transportation.” Tommy said, reaching for the phone he dropped by Evan’s feet.

“Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.” Evan agreed and continued as Tommy held the phone to his ear. “I thought you were putting a baby in me tonight, not expecting for one to come out already.” He laughed.

Once Tommy was off the phone, he moved around the room gathering things to throw into a bag. “Ev, where is the box of Jax’s clothes?” He asked moving to stand beside Evan again.

“Just finished washing them. They are in the hall closet. Top shelf.” Evan said and Tommy nodded moving to the closet and immediately finding the clothes he was looking for. Thank god for Evan’s exceptional organization skills, because he didn’t have to search long.

“Tommy? It’s Rose.” He heard from the front door.

“Hi, we’re back here.” Tommy called back.

“The paramedics are here as well.”

“Great, let them in. Thank you.” Tommy said as he moved back to the room. “Their here babe. You ready?” Tommy asked placing the outfits and blankets he pulled out in the bag with their other things for the night.

“Hey Kinard’s.” Tommy heard someone call out and Evan and Tommy turned to look at the doorway.

“Deluca.” Evan said as Sal came trotting into their bedroom.

“Dispatch tells me we have a surprise party on our hands here.” Sal said as he stood on Tommy’s side of the bed out of the way of his paramedics.

There was a flurry of activity, between the paramedics checking Evan, clamping and cutting the cord and handing the baby off to Tommy so Evan could be lifted onto the stretcher.

“I can’t wait to tell Gina this.” Sal commented to Tommy as they walked out behind the stretcher.

“Nope. Shut your damn mouth Deluca.” Tommy said shaking his head. “Not before we tell our family.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever Kinard.” Sal says watching Tommy climb in and sit down next to Evan, handing the baby back over to him.

The ride to the hospital was bumpy. And Buck was feeling every bump. Tommy placed his hand on Bucks thigh and leaned forward.

“What’s wrong Ev?” Tommy asked softly.

“I am uncomfortable. My back is still hurting, not as intense but definitely still there.” He said, wincing as they hit another bump. “T-Take him, babe.” Buck said shifting their newborn over to Tommy’s arms.

“I got him, we’re almost there baby. They’ll check you. They’ve already paged Steph. We’ll make sure you’re okay.” Buck just nodded his head, gripping the hand that Tommy offered to him.

“W-what should we name him?” Buck asked trying to distract himself from the pain taking over his entire body once again.

“Oh, I’m sure we’ll figure it out once everything settles.” Tommy laughed and Buck nodded his head.

“Yeah, I have some ideas.” Buck couldn’t say anymore as a strong sharp pain hit, and he gasped squeezing Tommy’s hand tight.

“Okay, okay, breath Ev. Look at me.” Tommy encouraged taking a deep breath and releasing it. “We’re pulling in now, Ev. Just a few more minutes baby. I promise.”

Buck nodded his head, unable to speak as the pain was getting much worse and much more frequent. Buck was quickly unloaded from the back of the ambulance once it came to a complete stop, and he listened as the paramedic gave his information.

“Buck? I hear we had a surprise tonight?” Dr Hall said as she came over to stand beside Buck on the side Tommy didn’t already occupy. “Mhmm.” Was all Buck was able to manage.

“He says he’s still feeling pain in his back.” Tommy spoke for his husband.

“Even after having the baby?”

“Yeah. And it’s gotten worse as we got closer here. Steph, please what’s wrong with my husband?” Tommy asked, Buck squeezed his hand tighter as Tommy’s voice waivered.

“Hey, relax Tommy. Let’s get him into L and D and we’ll examine him.” Dr. Hall said, giving her staff orders as they moved to labor and delivery.

Once he was in a room and the nurses had taken the Baby for his own checkup, Buck squeezed Tommy’s hand pulling his attention to him. “T-Tommy, m-make it stop.” Buck whined and Tommy leaned down to rest their foreheads together.

“I wish I could, baby. I’m so sorry. We’ll figure this out. I promise.” Tommy said and Buck tried to nod his head, tears spilling from his eyes.

“Buck, I’m going to do an ultrasound. Just see if I can pinpoint what this may be okay?” Dr. Hall asked and Buck nodded his head, flinching slightly as she put gel on his stomach.

She pressed the ultrasound wand into his abdomen, moving it around. “Um, Buck. Are you sure all those tests were negative?” She asked as she moved the wand and Tommy gasped at the image on the screen.

“T-they were.” Buck gasped and tried his best to focus on the screen. “What… Ohhhhh, shit. What is it?”

“Evan, you’re still in labor. There’s another baby coming.”

Buck looked over at his husband, eyes going wide in surprise. “W-What?” He asked.

“We’re having twins baby.” Tommy said, leaning down to kiss Buck’s forehead.

“How? The test were all negative.” Buck directed his question to Dr. Hall.

“It’s rare, but there is a condition called the Hook Effect, where a high concentration of hCG in the urine can interfere with the test's ability to detect it, resulting in a false negative. Even as late as 8 months.”

“Yeah, but twins?” Tommy asked. “That seems very unlikely.” He said looking down at Buck.

“I’d say one in a million. This is very rare.” Dr. Hall said turning to the nurse. “Lets get him hooked on the fetal monitor. Get another heated incubator in here and call down to OR have the room on standby.”

“A c-section? Is that necessary?” Tommy asked.

“I don’t know. We’ll know more once the monitor is set up. If baby seems to be in distress, yes we’ll do a section.” She said nodding at both men. “Buck, I am going to check you now okay? See how much you’ve dilated.”

Buck nodded his head, and Tommy helped him shift lower on the bed so Dr. Hall could do her examination.

When she finished, she let him know that he was nine and a half centimeters dilated and that the baby’s heart rate looked good, they would let him labor a little longer.

The contractions were coming faster and more frequently now. And Buck knew he was squeezing the life out of Tommy’s hand. “I’m done. No more.” He gasped as he worked through it.

“What? You want an epidural or the c-section?” Tommy asked running a cold washcloth over his forehead.

“Neither. I’m done having babies. I’m tapping out. Job well done Kinard. You over achiever. I asked for one more, you gave me two. You have got to settle down, babe. My god.” Evan said, trying to lighten the mood.

“What my baby wants, my baby gets. You asked and you received.” Tommy laughed and Buck tried to chuckle, but it quickly turned into a grimace.

“Nash, his middle name is Nash.” Buck gasped out. Looking at Tommy.

“I love it. What’s his first name?” Tommy asked, helping distract Buck.

“Y-you choose. I trust you.”

“Oh, after five kids you trust me with their name now?” Tommy joked. Truth is, he and Buck had named all five of their kids together. And with relative ease.

“I always trust you Tommy.” Buck said looking at Tommy, trying to be sure his eyes conveyed what his words were saying.

“I know, baby. How about Bennett? Bennett Nash?” Tommy said.

Buck smiled and brought Tommy’s hand to his lips for a kiss. “Bennett Nash Kinard. I love it. Our second boy. Finally. But for every one boy…”

“Yeah odds are, this is a girl.” Tommy laughed.

“Ahhh, Tommy get the doctor.”

“What? What’s wrong?”

“Need to push.” Buck said trying to breath through the pressure.

Tommy was up and out of the door, so fast Buck swore he almost face planted. Coming back in with Dr. Hall in toe.

“He said he feels like he needs to push.” Dr. Hall moved to stand at the end of the bed and glanced under the blanket quickly.

“Well hello. Yes, you do need to push. Lyra, get me gowned up, let’s have a baby shall we?” Buck nodded and the nurse came over to help get Dr. Hall ready. “Go ahead and scooch down Buck, And when you feel that pressure again, push with it. Don’t fight it.”

Buck nodded his head and Tommy once again helped him move down.

It didn’t take long before Dr. Hall was announcing proudly. “It’s a boy.” And Buck was crying again.

“A boy? Tommy” He cried, the baby being lifted up and placed on Buck’s chest, nurses rubbing him with warm blankets until he started to pink up and let out tiny quiet whimpers. Nothing like his brother had when he was born.  “Oh, you’re so quiet. Just like Lissy.” Buck said, running his hand over the newborns back. “Shit, we need another Boy name. I only had a girl. Tommy,”

“shhhh, We’ll figure it out.”

The room was finally settled. The twins sleeping in the bassinet beside the bed after having been fed. Buck was sitting up just staring at them. “We need to call everyone.” He said looking up at Tommy.

“I think, we text Maddie let her know you’re okay. And ask that she brings the kids later this morning. But let’s not tell anyone else. I think we call Athena, let her be the first to meet the boys?” Buck looked at Tommy and smiled. “And that gives us a chance to get our traditional first portrait with all 7… holy shit Evan, we have 7 kids.” Tommy said, letting out a surprised laugh.

“Oh my god Tommy, we’re so screwed. I am for real done. Like, I’m making it so I can’t get pregnant ever again. I’m truly scared. You probably have triplets swimming around in there and no, I am not pushing three more out.”

Tommy laughed and leaned in to kiss Buck. “Okay. We’re done. I love you, Evan.” He said and Buck smiled.

“I love you too. Thank you, Tommy. For all our babies.”

“Thank you, for all our babies. I just had fun; you did all the work.”

“I had fun too.” Buck said. “Okay. I’ll send the text. You call Athena.” Tommy nodded his head and they both pulled out their phones.

Tommy’s phone call didn’t last long. “She’s on her way. Said she’ll call when she gets here.” Tommy said lacing his fingers with Buck’s.

“Good. I can sleep for a few minutes.” Buck said leaning his head back against the pillows.

“Yes, you sleep, baby.” Tommy said as he leaned forward to kiss Buck’s temple again.

Tommy opened the door and walked back in, Athena following close behind. “So, we wanted you to be the first to meet the babies.” Tommy said quietly, as the newborns slept quietly in Evan’s arms.

“The… What?” She asked surprise on her face very evident.

“Surprise GG.”

“You were pregnant? How did we not know this?”

“Nobody knew. Not even us. We’d been trying since Tommy had the reversal surgery. But every test came back negative.” Evan said, a tired smile on his face.

Tommy placed his hand gently on Athena’s back and guided her closer to the bed. “Do you want to hold them?” Tommy asked.

“Them, twins?” Athena asked, tears coming to her eyes as she reached out for one of the babies to be placed in her arms.

“Yes, twins. Boys.” Evan said placing Baby B in her arms.

“Oh, both boys.” She said looking down at the newborn in her arms. “What a precious little handsome guy.” She said looking down at the bundle in her arms.

Athena moved over to the chair next to Evan’s bed and sat down. “Okay, give me him.” Athena said and Tommy moved Baby A from Evan’s arms to Athena’s. “My word, the world is not ready for two more Kinard boys this handsome. What are their names?” She asked looking back and forth between the two men. Tommy looked at Evan and they both nodded.

“Baby A.” Evan said pointing to the baby resting on her right side. “Is Bennett Nash Kinard."

"And Baby B is Mavrick Robert Kinard” Evan said, voice soft and full of emotion at the memories of family members not present.

Athena gasped and looked down at the babies, Mavrick opened his eyes and looked up at his GG and brought his tiny hand up to suck on it. “Well, Hi there Mavrick.” She said looking over at his still sleeping brother “And Bennett, Your Poppy would be so proud. Thank you.” She said to Tommy and Evan, still looking down at the babies, a tear rolling down her cheek. “Bobby would have definitely rolled his eyes.”

Tommy laughed. “Yeah, that’s why we had to do it. But we also wanted to honor the man he was.”

“You did. And you, My loves were born to do great things. And don’t you ever forget that. And if you ever need a reminder, you come to GG.” Athena said, leaning down and placing a soft gentle kiss on each of the baby’s cheek, Mavrick turning his head as if he were giving her one back and Tommy watched Evan reach up to wipe the tear that had escaped his own eye.

Tommy looked down at his phone when it chimed and smiled. “Ev, the kids are here. I’ll be right back.” Tommy announced and moved to walk out of the door. Quickly making his way to the waiting room to gather his kids.

“Hey.” Maddie said, spotting Tommy first.

“Hey.” He said hugging her quickly. “Thank you for bringing them.”

“No problem. How is he?” Maddie asked and Tommy so badly wanted to erase the worried expression from her face.

“He’s fine. Just wants to see the kids, docs said he’ll be going home tomorrow.”

“Good. That’s, okay good. So nothing serious then right?”

“No. Nothing serious.”

“What was it?” She asked trying to get more information on her brother.

“Listen, trust me, he’s fine. He wants to see the kids right now, and we will let everyone know what’s going on soon. You know how Evan is with hospitals and his kids.” Tommy said, a small smile playing across Maddie’s lips.

“Yeah I do. Okay. I trust you.” She said

“Alright, everyone please say thank you to Aunt Maddie. We’re going to go see daddy.” Tommy said as he moved over to the stroller that held Iris. Moving toward the elevators once they had all said their goodbye to Maddie.

“GG” Iris squealed once they got into the room.

“Iris” Athena said back in equal excitement, having given Bennett to Evan to feed while she held Mavrick.

“GG, who is that?” Vivi asked coming to stand next to her.

“Well, this is one of your new baby brothers.” Tommy said sitting down beside Athena and pulling Viv onto his lap so she could see him better.

“Daddy had a baby?” Lissy asked and came over to look at the baby too.

“He did.” Tommy answered him.

“Daddy?” Jax called over to him. “I want uppie.” He said in his quiet tired voice. Tommy stood and lifted him up onto the bed and he curled into Evan’s side immediately.

“Why are there two?” Jax asked curiously checking the baby out in Evan’s arms.

“Because daddy had twins Jaxy.” Evie told her baby brother. Going over to sit on the edge of the bed.

“Evie is right. And now you, have two baby brothers to play with when they get a little older.” Evan said to him.

Iris was the only one of the older kids not interested in her baby brothers. Tommy stood and gathered her up into his arms. “All right you munchkins, lets get this special picture so we can let your aunts and uncles know.” He said looking at Evan who nodded his head as he moved Bennett from his chest to his shoulder to burp him.

Athena sat back and held the twins again as Tommy and Evan situated the older kids on the bed. “Evie, you sit in the back by the pillows. Well someone’s pro at this.” Evan said tickling her belly to pull a laugh from their oldest, their first baby. The one who made them parents.

Evan continued to position the kids one by one, Vivi and Lissy sitting next to each other in front of Evie, Jax sitting in front of the girls, and Iris sitting in front of Jax, Bennett and Mavrick laying in front of Iris, heads being supported by Tommy and Athena’s hands.

“Okay, ready Iris, look at daddy.” Evan called smiling around the camera to pull smiles from all the kids. Snapping several pictures, knowing he should have gotten the one they could use.

Tommy sat down on the bed next to Evan, having walked Athena and the kids out, promising them that he and Evan and the babies would be home the next day. Evan busy scrolling through the pictures feeding Mavrick, while Tommy held Bennett.

“Did you get it, babe?” Tommy asked. Running his finger along Bennetts newborn pouty lips. “Bennetts going to have your broody little pout, babe.” Tommy said and laughed when he felt Evan’s elbow connect with his ribs.

“Yes, I got the picture. Don’t say that about my son again.”

“Good. I love your pout baby.” Tommy said looking up at him and smiling.

“Yeah, my pout has worked a time or two hasn’t it?”

“7 kids, Evan, 7.” Tommy replied, grabbing the phone that Evan offered to him. Looking at the picture and smiling, it’s perfect.

He read the message.

Buck/Evan~ Good morning. I wanted to let everyone know that I am FINE. BUT, Tommy and I have a announcement.

SURPRISE! The Kinards are now 007.

Baby boy A- Bennett Nash Kinard

Baby boy B- Mavrick Robert Kinard

Tommy nodded and smiled at Evan. “Send it, babe.” Evan said and Tommy pressed the send button. Putting the phone down and waiting for the onslaught of replies.

As they poured in as expected, Tommy looked at Evan, a smile permanently affixed to his face.

7, if Tommy were a man of faith he’d say 7 was the perfect number. 7 was the number of completion, of perfection. He was good with that. 7 kids to complete their family. It was more perfect then Tommy Could have imagined.

Evan leaned over and laid his head on Tommy’s shoulder and whispered, more than half asleep “I love you Thomas Kinard.”

Tommy smiled once more and whispered back “I love you more, Evan Kinard.”

The world around him, in the room with him and out with Athena was now complete and perfect. And Tommy couldn’t ever ask for more than that.

Notes:

WHOA!!! What the... How the hell did that happen? 🤭🤭🤭

Thank you again to everyone for follow along.

More fics are in the works. Just taking longer than I planned to complete.

For more explanation on the "If Tommy were a man of faith" line

In the Bible, the number seven frequently symbolizes completeness, perfection, and completion. It also represents rest, divine worship, and the sign of God. The number 7 is used in various biblical contexts, including God's creation of the world in six days and his rest on the seventh day.

Here's a more detailed look at the significance of the number 7 in the Bible:
Creation and Completion:
God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day, signifying completion and a cycle of rest.

The Sabbath:
The seventh day of the week, the Sabbath, is set aside for rest and worship, reflecting the divine completion of creation.

Sacred Days:
The festivals of Passover, Shavuot, Sukkot, and the Jubilee year are all connected to the number seven, indicating sacred periods of completion.

Sevenfold Spirit:
In the Book of Revelation, the number seven appears frequently, often referring to the sevenfold spirit of God.

Complete Forgiveness:
In the teachings of Jesus, the idea of forgiving "seventy-times seven" represents unlimited forgiveness.
