Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Wim kills someone lol

Chapter Text

Everything was going too fast. The journey was coming to an end too soon. What was supposed to be a grand adventure is starting to look like a grand disappointment.

Jod had the coordinates in his hands as he rushed them out of the observatory. As they made their way across the moon to their ship, a rush of fighter ships fly above.

As they quickly approach the ship, Fern confronts Jod on his identity and his untruthfulness. There’s no time as Jod panics and reveals he’s just as lost and alone as they are.

“But.. you are a Jedi, right?” Wim asks hesitantly.

Jod looks at Wim sheepishly, “I never actually said that..”

“What..?” Wim asks with a devastated look on his face.

“I knew it.” Fern confirms.

After finally corralling the kids onto the ship, Jod takes command to the reluctance of Fern. In order to escape Kh'ymm’s goons, they need to make it to the other side of the moon. With Jod putting KB in charge of the scanner thing and Neel with the controls of the ship to evade their fire, he beckons the other two to follow him.

Jod rushes him and Fern to another section of the ship as they complain about their roles.

Fern is outright furious. She’s the captain! Why is Jod telling her what to do?!

And Wim is peeved that Neel get’s to fly the ship instead of him. He could do it. Probably better than Neel.

Jod just tunes them out as he leads them to an area beckoning them to stay back as he flips a switch, making a chair come down from the ceiling.

“Get in. Come on Captain!” Jod says with an exaggerated annoyed tone.

As Fern gets into the gunner seat he quickly gives her instructions. “Grab this. Turn this. Fire here.”

Another role taken that he could have probably done better. What the heck, this is so not fair. He could be good at shooting at the goons too!

“Just keep ‘em back. Let’s go!”

Jod rushes Wim to the next section and flips a switch opening up a 2nd gunner seat and..

Oh.

Oh yes.

Wim gladly gets into the gunner seat and shakes in anticipation. The machine raises him up and he sees the giant planet in contrast with the empty of space.

Controls are weird, how did he say to shoot? Oh this button here. Oo spinny spin, haha.

This is so wizard..

The ship trembles as the goons begin their attack. He needs to focus. Looking down at the controls he experiments with a couple of the buttons Jod pointed out to fern. Pressing one button, the pod trembles as a bolt of light escapes the gun connected to it.

Lets do this!

Wim begins to shoot with purpose now as the goons evade his fire. He keeps shooting but nothing hits.

Dang..

He’s really bad at this..

At least Fern is the same as him, missing every shot, so that should be something, right?

He starts shooting randomly hoping to get at least 1 shot? Maybe?

Then all of a sudden one of the shots hit. The fighter’s wing is disabled as it crashes down onto the surface of the moon, and bursts into a fiery explosion. Wim looks on in shock for a few seconds as they fly away from the scene.

Oh.

Oh yes.

It's finally his time of glory.

“I GOT ONE I GOT ONE!”
“That was my shot!” Fern loudly complains. Well too bad for her cause he got them first. Not as good as she thinks she is. Maybe he should be captain instead of her.

As he celebrates his victory, the bright light of the sun enters his eyesight. The ship begins to point upwards towards the stars and quickly enters into hyperspace.

“Did you see that? I totally shot one of those guys and exploded them into tiny pieces.” Wim brags as he enters back into the cockpit with the rest of them. “It was just like one of my games from home!”

“Yeah good job lad,” Jod comments at a beaming Wim. His grin however falters a little as Jod moves on.

The memory of the fighter ship's wing exploding and falling down into a firey mess is still in his mind.

Everything’s fine though.

He killed the bad guy right? Good job well done after all.

The goons were shooting at them after all so it’s fine if he killed someone in self defense.

But they were probably after Jod. who’s apparently not a Jedi. Which means he’s not as much of a hero as he thought.

He still killed someone.

Someone who probably wasn’t as much of a bad guy as he thought.

Oh.

Oh kriff..

Notes:

I had this idea where there's more consequences when defending themselves against the X-Wings in that scene, leading up to Wim shooting down one, and then later dealing with the consequences of his actions. Later on maybe if one of his friends were one of the pilots, Luke gets involved later on past the child soldier episode. It's my first fic ever so ye.
