Work Text:

There was always something electric in the air after a mission, something deeper than adrenaline, stronger than his own rivalry. Tonight, it clung to them like the mist that settled over the secluded cave mouth they'd ducked into. The moonlight shimmered down against the wet stone, and the water glowed faintly blue with traces of Chaos energy.

The sorrounding are was safe and remote, Shadow stood at the edge of the pool, water lapping at his ankles, body half-transformed from the last clash that happened, Chaos swelling just under the surface of his skin. His black tendrils twitched faintly behind him, slick and bioluminescent highlights the air nicely, coiling around his calves and curling at the edges like they were waiting.

Sonic leaned against a rock ledge behind him with his arms crossed. Watching the hedgehog with a smirk on his face, mind filled with curiosity. He’d seen the transformation before, but not like this. Not when Shadow wasn't fighting and when the tendrils weren't trying to pierce and destroy. Now, they pulsed gently, like they had a heartbeat of their own.

"You always get like this after a big blowout?" Sonic asked, voice low and lazy. "All… glowy and squirmy?"

Shadow didn’t turn. “It’s unstable. I’m stabilizing.”

"Right." Sonic pushed off the rock and padded over, his shoes barely making a sound. "And I’m guessing it doesn’t help that you’re standing there dripping and twitching like that."

Shadow inhaled sharply as Sonic stopped behind him, just barely brushing close. "Control is essential," he muttered, but one of the tendrils betrayed him, curling forward to ghost across Sonic’s thigh.

“Ohhh?” Sonic tilted his head. "That one wasn't very controlled."

"It’s involuntary," Shadow said, a bit too quickly.

Sonic chuckled, hand drifting down to stroke one of the coiled appendages. It reacted instantly, twining around his wrist like it wanted more. A second tendril curled up Sonic’s side, winding around his waist, slow and almost… affectionate. The sound Shadow made then wasn’t a word. It was low, rumbling, and vibrated with a tension he couldn’t mask.

"I’m not the only one who noticed, y’know," Sonic whispered, pressing closer now, his chest brushing Shadow's back. “You’ve been like this since the fight ended. All quiet. All twitchy. Like you're begging for something and too stubborn to ask."

“I’m not—” But the words fell apart as Sonic’s fingers slid lower, brushing over the sensitive spot where a tendril met his spine.

Shadow’s knees gave just slightly. Sonic caught him, smirking into the shell of his ear. "I knew it." Another tendril snaked around Sonic’s ankle, pulling him even closer as if Shadow’s own body betrayed his restraint.

“Look at you…” Sonic murmured. “You’re wrapped around me already.”

“I should be stopping this,” Shadow growled, but he didn’t move. His hands were clenched at his sides, the tips of his fingers twitching as more tendrils coiled around Sonic’s waist and hips, drawing him flush against the warmth of Shadow’s back.

"But you're not," Sonic whispered, his voice suddenly gentler. “You could shove me off. Warp out. But you’re still here.”

Shadow’s head bowed forward, breathing ragged. He wasn’t fighting it anymore. "Let me," Sonic said softly, sliding one hand down Shadow’s front while his other traced the glowing edges of a squirming tentacle. “Let me help.”

Shadow shuddered. When Sonic turned him around, the tendrils didn’t resist—instead they twisted around Sonic’s arms and shoulders, possessive and greedy. Shadow's eyes glowed bright red in the moonlight, chaotic and wide. Vulnerable.

Sonic kissed him slowly, deep and thorough, like he wasn’t in a rush for once. Like he had all the time in the world to unravel every coil and tremble. Shadow's lips parted, and he made a soft, wrecked noise when Sonic pressed harder, their bodies moving with instinct more than thought now.

The tendrils spread further, wrapping around Sonic's legs, curling around his back, sliding under his quills and teasing the base of his spine as if they were inviting him.

Sonic responded in kind. He nudged Shadow gently back until he was up against the warm, damp rock, and let his hands roam. Shadow's transformation had left his body slick and fever-hot, smooth and slippery in places, and Sonic marveled at how he could be so solid yet so malleable all at once.

He pressed into Shadow, grinding against him slowly, the friction deliciously wet and teasing. Every roll of his hips made Shadow arch, groaning low, helplessly tethered to the growing ache between them.

Sonic slowed, pulling back just enough to whisper “Show me.” Shadow blinked, breathless as he listened to Sonic's words. "All of it. Let me see what you’ve been hiding."

For a second, Shadow hesitated. They shared a moment of silence with a slow, rippling shift that emerged before his transformation bloomed further. More tendrils unfurled behind him, dripping with faint Chaos glow, writhing with desire. The colors shimmered between violet and deep obsidian.

Sonic stared, awed. "Holy chaos… you’re beautiful." Shadow surged forward with a purr, wrapping Sonic completely in a cocoon of warm, shifting limbs, dragging him down into the shallow water at the base of the rocks. The tendrils tightened around Sonic’s waist and thighs, pinning him against the slick, trembling heat of Shadow’s core.

"Then take it," Shadow growled, voice hoarse and urgent. "You wanted this. So take it."

Sonic didn't hesitate for a bit before pressed in, slow and steady, moaning at the tightness, the way Shadow’s body pulled him in greedily. The tentacles tightened, guiding him, keeping him flush as he buried himself deep.

Shadow clutched at him, legs wrapped tight, breathing broken. “More,” he rasped. “Sonic—don’t hold back—” Sonic groaned, thrusting harder, his grip digging into Shadow’s hips. "You like it messy, huh?"

Shadow only whined in response, head tilted back as more tendrils curled over Sonic’s back, urging him deeper, faster, harder. The cave filled with the sound of water slapping rock, moans echoing, and Chaos energy shimmering with every jolt of pleasure that surged between them.

And when they finally came, Shadow was clinging with every limb, while Sonic grinding in deep, shaking from the overloaded feeling—they didn’t separate. The tendrils stayed for a moment, wrapped around Sonic.
