Chapter Text
The neighbors of Dreamlight Valley were starting to worry about their ruler/neighbor/best friend, David. They have been noticing how very distant and avoiding he is around them as he is way too busy with his private research. The one who is hurt from all of this is Elsa, who so happens to be his wife and queen of Dreamlight Valley. Currently, Elsa and all the other neighbors had an emergency neighborhood meeting at Remy's restaurant, discussing David's sudden behavior.
"I don't know what's gotten into him," Elsa said with a sigh, her voice echoing the sadness and confusion in her heart.
Elsa glanced around the room at the concerned faces of her friends and neighbors, all gathered around the large oak table covered in a white table cloth in Remy's cozy restaurant. The warm light from the candles flickered off their worried expressions, casting dancing shadows on the walls. The smell of Remy's famous ratatouille filled the air, a stark contrast to the tension in the room.
Mickey Mouse, his usual cheerfulness dimmed, nodded solemnly. "We've all noticed it, Elsa. He used to be so involved in the community, but lately he's been holed up in that castle of his, not even coming out for the festivals."
"It's not like him," Goofy chimed in, his hat tipped to the side in thought. "He's always been the life of the party, but now... it's like he's lost his spark."
A silence fell over the group as they contemplated Goofy's words. The realization that something was truly amiss with David was palpable. Anna, usually so bubbly and outgoing, spoke up with a tremble in her voice. "Do you think he's okay?. Maybe he's just stressed with the upkeep of the valley itself?."
Elsa's eyes searched the room, seeking understanding. "I've tried talking to him, but he just brushes me off, saying it's nothing I need to worry about. But I can't shake this feeling that there's something he's not telling me." She took a deep breath, her hand absently playing with the silver charm bracelet around her wrist, a gift from David when they first fell in love.
Remy, his apron stained from a day's worth of cooking, placed a comforting paw on her hand. "Perhaps it's time we throw him a random party, yes?. Maybe together, we can show him that we're here to support him, no matter what troubles he faces."
A murmur of agreement rippled through the room. The neighbors exchanged determined looks, knowing that as a community, they had to come together to help their friend. They decided to plan an intervention of sorts, a surprise gathering at the castle to show David that he wasn't alone. Elsa felt a glimmer of hope, her spirits lifting at the thought of their collective efforts.
The group dispersed, each neighbor taking on a task. Some would prepare food, others would decorate, and a few would track down entertainment. It was a collaborative effort to remind David of the joy and camaraderie that existed outside his research-filled bubble.
Days turned into nights as the plan took shape. Elsa couldn't help but feel anxious, her mind racing with the potential reasons behind David's retreat. Was he hiding something? Or was he just overwhelmed by the weight of his responsibilities?
On the day of the surprise gathering, the castle gates swung open to reveal a courtyard buzzing with activity. The neighbors had transformed it into a festival of friendship, with colorful banners strung between the turrets, twinkling lights adorning the hedges, and a mouthwatering spread of food laid out on a long table. The aroma of freshly baked goods mingled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, filling the air with a warm, welcoming embrace.
Elsa's heart raced as she stepped into the courtyard, her eyes scanning for any sign of her husband. She spotted him in the distance, his back to them, staring out over the moonlit valley with a furrowed brow. His once vibrant blue cloak now hung limply around his shoulders, the vibrant colors faded.
The neighbors approached him tentatively, their footsteps quiet on the cobblestone. As they grew closer, they could hear the faint murmur of David's voice, as if he was talking to someone or something unseen. They paused, unsure if they should interrupt, but Elsa's concern grew stronger with each passing second. She took a deep breath and called out his name.
David spun around, his eyes wide with surprise. For a moment, he looked lost, as if he hadn't noticed the transformation of the courtyard or heard the approach of his friends. Then, a small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, and he stepped forward to embrace Elsa. "I didn't know you were all here," he said, his voice thick with emotion.
The neighbors gathered around, each offering a kind word or a gentle pat on the back. David's eyes grew misty as he took in the scene. "I've been so caught up in my work," he admitted, his voice low. "I didn't realize how much I've been neglecting all of you."
Elsa's eyes searched his, looking for the truth behind his words. "What is it you're working on, David?." she asked softly. "We're here for you. Whatever it is, we can face it together."
David quickly closed his small notebook and put it in his pants pocket. He gave her a warm smile. "It is nothing for you or any one's concern. I'm just doing a personal private experiment of mine."
This made Elsa and the others become suspicious and concerned. Even Merlin is not liking it, not one darn bit.
Merlin stepped forward, his staff thumping against the ground with each step. "David, old chap, you know we're all here for you. But this secrecy isn't like you. What's going on?" His wise eyes bore into David's, seeking the truth.
David's smile wavered, and he looked around at the group of friends gathered before him. "It's... it's nothing," he stammered, clearly uncomfortable. "Just a little something I've been tinkering with. It's nothing that concerns any of you."
But the neighbors were not so easily deterred. They had known David for years, and his sudden withdrawal was not only troubling but also uncharacteristic.
"You can trust us," said Elsa, her voice steady. "We're your family. Whatever it is, we can help."
David refused. "It does not concern you or anyone. Let it go. I mean it."
The neighbors exchanged glances, a mix of worry and confusion etched on their faces. Elsa felt a knot tighten in her stomach. This was not the David she knew, the one who shared his thoughts and fears openly. Something was definitely wrong.
"Okay, okay," Remy said, raising his paws in a placating gesture. "We'll give you your space, but remember, we're here if you need us."
The group dispersed to enjoy the party that they worked so hard to build until they left upon the break of nightfall, leaving Elsa and David standing awkwardly in the moonlit courtyard. The tension between them was palpable, the silence thick enough to cut with a knife. Elsa could feel the unspoken words hanging in the air, each one heavier than the last.
Finally, she broke the silence. "David, I know something's bothering you. Please, tell me what's going on."
He sighed, his shoulders slumping under the weight of his secrets. "It's... it's complicated, Elsa. I've discovered something, something that could change everything."
Her eyes searched for him, desperate for answers. "What do you mean?."
"I mean that the Dreamlight Shards have its own secret. I did something that no one thinks or dares to do. I split one and it gave me its twin shards. Normal Dream shard and its popular opposite, the Night shard. The regular ones that we mined or digged up, I call them fully pure Dream Shards. I am so drawn to the possibilities of what the Dark Dreamlight shards are capable of. I must know everything that is about it and how to use it." explained David.
He pulled that dark shard from his pocket and felt mesmerized by its power. This made Elsa's wife instincts kick in super hard.
"David, you can't keep this from me. This is too dangerous for even you to handle. We're in this together. As king and queen. As husband and wife. Always." Elsa said firmly, her hand reaching for the shard. She could feel the energy pulsing from it, a mix of anxiety and fear.
David quickly pulled the dark shard back from Elsa in a corrupted kind of way. Before Elsa can even say or act, David used his ability to use the wells in the valley to teleport himself somewhere away from his wife. Elsa began to run out of the castle and went to alert everyone in the valley about what David had been up to and needed to find him and take that night shard from him at once.
The neighbors, shocked by David's revelation and his sudden disappearance, banded together. They decided to split into groups and search the kingdom for any signs of him or his secretive research. Anna, Kristoff and Olaf set off to the Frozen realm, while Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Daisy and Goofy headed towards the castle to check for clues. Meanwhile, Elsa, Merlin, and Remy decided to explore the dense forest, where they believed David might have gone to avoid detection.
The forest was eerily quiet, the only sounds being the rustle of leaves underfoot and the distant hoot of an owl. The moon cast long shadows through the trees, making the journey feel more like a quest than a simple search. Elsa's heart pounded in her chest, a mix of fear and determination driving her forward. Merlin, with his heightened magical senses, led the way, his staff illuminating the path with a soft blue glow.
As they ventured deeper, Remy spoke up, his eyes narrowing. "I smell something... off." He sniffed the air, his nose twitching. "It's like... a corrupted version of the Dreamlight we know."
Merlin nodded gravely. "The forest is tainted with the presence of the dark shard. We're on the right track."
They pushed through the underbrush, the scent of corrupted Dreamlight growing stronger. It was a smell none of them had encountered before, a twisted mix of dark and bitter that seemed to cling to the very air.
"We must be getting closer." Elsa murmured, her eyes scanning the forest floor for any trace of David's path.
Merlin paused, his staff's light flickering as he focused his senses. "This way," he said, pointing to a narrow, overgrown trail that led deeper into the woods.
Elsa and Remy followed closely behind, their eyes peeled for any sign of David. The trail grew steeper and more treacherous, the trees pressing in around them like sentinels guarding a dark secret. They find an opening clearing and see David having not one but two night shards in each hand.
"David, what are you doing?." Elsa called out, her voice a mix of shock and concern.
David spun around, his eyes wild and desperate. "Elsa, I didn't want you to see this," he said, holding up the two shards. "I need to understand this power. It's... it's incredible not to ignore."
The sight of her husband holding the dark shards sent a chill down Elsa's spine. "David, please," she begged, taking a cautious step forward. "You're scaring me. Give me the Night shards."
David shook his head. "No. I must complete my research."
With a blink of an eye, David once again teleported himself away from his wife and their friends. He teleported himself to the Dazzle Beach to finally complete his research. He looked at both of the Night Shards as if it was talking to him while doing it.
Elsa watched in horror as her husband vanished before her eyes. She turned to Merlin, her eyes wide with fear. "We have to find him," she urged. "Whatever he's doing with those shards, it can't be good."
Merlin nodded gravely. "The dark magic in those shards is strong, Elsa. If he isn't careful, it could consume him."
Meanwhile at Dazzle Beach, David shoved one of the glowing Night shards deep into the sand. Then he looked at the one in his hand.
"Based on my calculations the sand will help the Night shard spread its power all throughout Dreamlight Valley." David spoke before looking at the second shard in his hand. "And absorbing this Night shard within me will help me control the corrupted environment and nature of the valley after the night shard's energy spreads throughout the ground that I just planted in the sand."
He was about to absorb the second shard when he heard the distant echoes of Elsa's voice, calling out his name. His grip on the shard tightened, but he knew he had to be swift. The beach was desolate, the usual serene waves now crashing with an eerie rhythm under the moon's glow. The shard's dark whispers grew louder, promising him power and knowledge beyond his wildest dreams.
Merlin and Remy, with Elsa in the lead, burst into the clearing, their eyes wide with disbelief at the sight of David standing on the shoreline, surrounded by a growing aura of dark energy. The beach looked distorted, as if nightmares were seeping into the fabric of reality.
"David, no!." Elsa shouted, her voice filled with a mix of anger and fear. "You're playing with something you don't understand!."
"That is what you think, my love!." David used his magic to crush the shard and absorbed its power. A dark aura began to form all around him. "The power...I can feel it!."
Elsa watched in horror as the shard's energy surged through David's body, his eyes flashing with an unsettling mix of excitement and madness. The beach around them grew darker, the sand turning black and the waves growing more turbulent. The once-peaceful beach was now a reflection of the chaos within David. Then something began to happen to David's dismay. He starts to feel himself pulling apart along with his memories. A dark energy pulse spread all throughout the valley. The skies began to turn purplish dark as the valley has fallen into darkness. Elsa came two and try to stand on her wobbly legs. She looked around and didn't see her husband anywhere. She only sees a dark figure that resembles her man.
"Elsa," the figure said, his voice a chilling echo of David's. "Your love won't be enough to save him. The power of the Night shard is too great for a goody two-shoes weak ruler like your husband. His corrupted curiosity and interest had now given birth to me. The Forgotten. Welcome to my Dreamlight Valley. Valley of the Forgetting."
Elsa stared at the dark figure, her heart racing. "What have you done to my David!?." she demanded, her voice trembling.
The figure laughed, a hollow sound that sent shivers down her spine. "Oh, Elsa, sweet Elsa. He did this to himself. The power of the Night shard is seductive, isn't it?. It offers you unimaginable power and the universe itself, but at what cost?. He is no longer here. He is forever gone from Dreamlight Valley. I'm your king now."
Merlin stepped forward, his staff glowing with a fierce light. "You will not harm Elsa, the people of this valley or this valley itself!." he warned, his voice steadfast.
The dark figure laughed, "Merlin, I am surprised to see you here. I thought you would be too busy in your tower playing with your potions. Didn't you know the prophecy?. The one where darkness consumes the light?."
Merlin's eyes grew stern. "Prophecy or not, I will not stand by and watch this valley fall into darkness." He raised his staff, and a bolt of light shot towards the figure, but it simply dissipated against the thick aura surrounding it.
"Your magic is no match for me," the figure taunted, the sand beneath it swirling in a vortex of black. "You see, with the power of the Night shard, I control the very fabric of forgotten memories. Your king, your friend, your husband," the figure paused, pointing to Elsa, "has become a mere memory in the grand tapestry of the forgotten."
Elsa's eyes were wet with tears, but her resolve remained unshaken. "You will not win," she whispered, her hands starting to glow with her ice magic. "We will fight for David, for our home, our friends and for the light that brought us all here."y
The Forgotten chuckled. "That is only in your dreams."
He vanished through a dark vortex that he created and closed back. Leaving them to suffer the aftermath of the Night shard. The entire area and its districts are filled with boulders, big sized rocks, along with having big groups of fungi mushrooms, and huge fungi tree stumps, and thick night thorns that were impossible to remove. Everyone has tried their best to fix this chaos but failed. The more they are here the more they are starting to forget. Forgetting their friends, the time and moments they shared in the valley together as neighbors and as a family. Some of them decided it was best for them to return to their realms where it is safe and familiar to them. Others left the valley to another place where the Night shard did not reach but still suffered the effect of its power as they have lost their memories.
"Elsa, we have to go." Anna spoke to her sister in the Dreamlight castle as the two were looking at their door to their realm.
Elsa looked back at her sister with a sad expression, "But Anna, we can't leave like this. What about...oh, my...I forgot."
Anna gently took her hand, "What is it, Elsa? What's wrong?."
Elsa struggled to form words, her thoughts as fragmented as the light from the shattered windows of the castle. "It's... David. I...I can't remember him. It's as if he's fading away from me."
Anna's eyes widened in horror. "We can't let this happen. We need to find a way to break the curse of the Night shard!."
Merlin, who had been quietly observing the chaos, stepped forward. "The prophecy speaks of a time when light submits to the dark and becomes its twin, and a great forgetting will fall upon the land," he said solemnly. "But it also speaks of a hero who will rise to restore the balance."
Elsa's eyes searched his, finding a glimmer of hope in his words. "What can we do?." she asked desperately.
Merlin's gaze fell to the glowing snowflake charm that hung around Elsa's neck, a symbol of her power and love. "The prophecy speaks of a hero with a heart of pure light," he murmured. "Someone who can harness the unlimited power of the Dreamlight to fight against the dark. For what you can do, my Queen is to return to your realm with your sister and wait. That is all we can do. Myself, Mickey, Goofy, and Scrooge are staying behind and doing what we can to help the valley despite our memories are festering."
With a heavy heart, Elsa nodded and took Anna's hand. They stepped through the doorway, the warm light of their home enveloping them. The door to their realm closed with a finality that sent a shiver down Elsa's spine. She watched as the Dreamlight Valley she had come to love grew smaller and smaller, swallowed by the encroaching darkness along with losing the memories of the place, her friends and most of all her husband. Merlin sighed as the night thorns began to grow and covered itself over the door to the Frozen realm and sadly sighed.
"Just like all the other doors. I can't undo what's been done. This truly is the fall of Dreamlight Valley." said Merlin sadly, before making his leave.
He started to forget his spells and potion making along with forgetting his friends. Elsa and Anna walked through the now familiar corridors of their castle, their hearts heavy with the weight of what had happened. The slight bustling halls of maids, butlers, and soldiers welcomed them back home but they ignored them. They reached their shared chambers, and as Elsa looked around, she felt a profound sense of loss. The warmth of their shared history was fading, like the glow of the setting sun.
"We can't just sit here and wait," Elsa said, her voice a mix of sadness and determination. "We have to find a way to save him, to save all of us."
Anna nodded, her eyes reflecting the same fierce resolve as her sister's. "You're right. We'll find a way to break this curse."
They packed their meager belongings, knowing that they couldn't leave without at least trying to save their home. They had to believe that somewhere within the labyrinth of their fading memories, there was a clue, a spark that could lead them back to David. If anyone can fix and restore back the way things were is David. Speaking of David. After absorbing the Night shard and creating a darker version of himself, David finds himself in his original world. The real world. He wakes up after finding himself in an apartment when getting up in his bed. All of his memories of living and being the king of Dreamlight Valley, the Disney characters he became such amazing friends with both hero and villain, and marrying and loving his ice queen are all gone. He does not remember any of that or his origins of finding Dreamlight Valley.
In the real world, David is now forgotten, living a mundane life as a janitor. The memories of the enchanted valley felt like a distant fantasy dream. It's like he's forgotten who he truly is. His heart felt hollow and lost. The world around him was cold and uncaring. It was a stark contrast to the warmth and magic of Dreamlight Valley.
David went through his days in a daze, cleaning up after others, his mind always drifting to the whispers of a world that seemed so real yet so unreachable. He found solace in the quiet moments, where he could almost hear the distant echoes of laughter and friendship from a place he couldn't quite remember. It felt like nothing but once upon a dream. He went to spend his day off watcing Disney movies. Currently he is watching Frozen. Something about the movie makes him feel like he was once their when all of this happened. He can't get his eyes off on the ice queen. It felt like he knows her other than knowing her being a character of the movie.
"Why do I feel so out of place?." David asked himself this before going to the kitchen to make himself some popcorn.

Chapter Text
Elsa sat in the royal living room going through every single book that is there that will or might help find a solution in bringing back her husband and defeating the Forgotten in order to restore her and her husband's kingdom. Unfortunately, she can not find any help from those books. She or Anna can not recall how long its been since they left Dreamlight Valley and returned to their realm. Her memories were slowly starting to fade as the effects of the night thorns were doing their purpose. Its dark magic was clouding their minds and fogging up their beloved memories.
"What am I going to do?." Elsa asked herself when setting the thick book on the table beside her. "Oh, David, why did you let curiosity overtake you?."
The room was illuminated only by the flickering fireplace and the candles scattered around, casting dancing shadows on the grand tapestries that lined the walls. The silence was palpable, only broken by the occasional crackle of the fire. Elsa's eyes scanned the room, her thoughts racing. The once vibrant colors of the furniture had begun to dull, a stark reminder of the fading essence of the kingdom. The air felt heavy with despair and the weight of forgotten memories. She tried so hard to hold onto her memories and figured if she could remember at least one memory in order to not lose herself into the forgetting. That one memory is remembering the day when she met David during her coronation day.
Flashback
Elsa, who was hesitant and uneasy, when entering the building where her coronation is being held. She decided to fet there early before the ceremony officially began. She was only expecting the priest to be here and no one else. However, that is not the case. When she walked down the ale she saw a man on the first floor seats on the right all relaxed, while whistling a catchy tune that sounded like it should be sung when out sailing. Elsa raised her brow before walking forward to encounter the man.
She walked up beside him and see he ia not from around here and must be from another land as he dressed in royalty with a nice crown on his head. Elsa looked good at his clothing and see that the theme of it appears to be something dreamy. The man, who is black skinned with a short full beard, stopped whistling the moment that his eyes landed on Elsa. He gave her a warm friendly smile.
"Top of the morning, Elsa!. My, don't you look stunning today." He said.
Elsa maintained her royal personal. "Morning to you as well and thank you, but the proper way to address me is Princess Elsa or Pre-Queen Elsa."
He waved his hand away as if what she said is meaningless. "Oh, just because we have titles does not mean we have to act upon them. I mean, yeah, you and I are royalty but it does not mean we should wear our crowns everywhere we go, let alone have ourselves stand out over our loyal subjects. That would make you an uppity jerk."
Elsa felt a blush creeping up her cheeks, both from his casualness and his unexpected charm. "You are quite bold for someone who just arrived," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"And you think you can fool me with that 'I'm Royalty' ego since you've been isolated from your sister and everyone else." He spoke when watching her shocked look.
"How do you know about that!?." Elsa's eyes widened, her hand unconsciously rubbing her glove hands.
"I know everything there is about you, Snow Girl. I'm David by the way." said David, getting up and extending his hand.
Elsa took a moment before taking his hand. "How do you know about me?." she asked again, curiosity and wariness in her voice.
David grinned. "Now, that is a little secret that I intend to keep. But don't worry I won't tell anyone about your little winter power."
Elsa felt a chill run down her spine. "You know about my...my powers?."
"Yes, sir, I do. It fits you well. So, looking forward to being a queen?." said David, before walking around her.
Elsa pulled her hand away and turned to face him, her eyes narrowed. "How do you know about all this?. Who are you?."
"All in do time, Elsa. All in do time." David smiled at her. "As for who I am. I am the king of a place called Dreamlight Valley."
Elsa's eyes widened even further. "Dreamlight Valley?. I have never heard of such a place," she replied, her curiosity piqued.
"Oh, you would love it. A place where different individuals from different worlds can come together and live together as neighbors. You, your sister and company will fit right in." said David, before stopped walking and crossed his arms.
Elsa felt a mix of skepticism and intrigue. "How can I trust you?." she asked, her voice firm.
"You will later on down the road. Trust me, making friends is one of my greatest powers as Dreamlight King." said David.
Elsa studied David, his confidence and charm were something she wasn't used to. His words sounded genuine, yet she couldn't shake off the feeling of caution. "Very well, I shall reserve my judgment for now, King David," she said with a hint of a smile, "but I expect answers when the time is right."
David nodded in agreement. Elsa remembered later on that her coronation was a trip as her powers were almost showing when removing her gloves to hold the traditional items to finish the coronation ceremony. After having a special moment with Anna and having a disagreement about keeping the doors open. Elsa sighed after turning her back on Anna and try to avoid the subject as quickly as possible. But she didn't expect to deal with David again.
"My, My, My, that was a bad way to handle a situation like that." said David, who had a small plate that had a few chocolate bits. "Shutting people out and keeping things can make you a suspicious character. Especially, when your sibling is making the attempt to reconnect with you."
Elsa's eyes snapped back to the present, remembering the joyous yet chaotic event of her coronation. "You saw that?." she asked, surprised that he had witnessed the near-disaster.
"That, and I was timing it." David took a moment at the throne chair. "Oh, geez, your throne looks so...uninspiring. My throne chair is very nice, lively, and welcoming. Yours looks like it needs some good painting."
Elsa's eyes narrowed at his audacity. "I don't recall inviting you to critique my kingdom," she said, her voice icy.
"Last time I checked..." Davis took a bite of his chocolate. "Honesty is the best way to show how much you care about someone. Your sister is very bright by the way. She is just like me. A kid at heart. And so does you, expect you are putting it under lock and key."
Elsa felt her cheeks warm up, a mix of embarrassment and anger. "I don't know what you are talking about," she said, trying to maintain her dignity.
"Love your denial. It males you look really cute. Wanna dance?." David asked with expecting a positive response.
Elsa was taken aback by his sudden change of topic and the cheeky wink that accompanied it. She couldn't help but feel a spark of amusement despite her frustration. "Dance?. At my coronation?. That's highly inappropriate," she replied, trying to keep a straight face.
"Hmm, well in my kingdom, I always dance with my female subjects or guests no matter what special event it is. I'm guessing you are avoiding a dance with me because both of your feet are flat. Huh, I always wondered why you turned down that duke guy and throw Anna to dance with him." said David, taking another bite of his food.
"What?. No. No, I don't have flat feet. I have perfect normal arches, thank you." said Elsa, trying to keep her patience steady.
"Huh, well, why not cut a rug with the king of Dreamlight?. We will have an awesome night together. Wanna share my food?. It will help with the digesting." said David.
Elsa looked at him with a mix of confusion and amusement. "You are quite peculiar, King David," she said, watching as he offered her a piece of chocolate.
"Peculiar is the spice of life, darling," he said, popping the chocolate into his mouth. "Now come on, don't be shy. You know you want to dance."
Elsa couldn't help but chuckle at his persistent playfulness. "Very well," she conceded, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. "But only one dance."
"Well, you are the queen of this country. So be it." said David, once handing the plate to one of tge servants. He whispered. "Don't worry, I'll go easy on you."
The music began to play, a soft and elegant waltz that filled the grand hall. The courtiers and dignitaries watched in surprise as Elsa took David's hand and allowed him to lead her to the dance floor. His touch was warm and surprisingly gentle, a stark contrast to his boisterous demeanor.
"You know, I never thought I'd see the day when you'd let your guard down, Elsa," David said, twirling her around with surprising grace.
Elsa couldn't help but laugh, feeling the tension in her shoulders ease slightly. "You have a way of making things seem less serious," she admitted.
"That's because I know that sometimes you just need to let go," David said, spinning her again. Their dance was imperfect, filled with awkward steps and giggles, but it was a welcome reprieve from the looming shadows of their no to be talked past. "Now, tell me, Elsa. What truly makes you happy?. What can put a big smile on that cute face of yours?. I can deliver. I'm that kind of king."
Elsa's thoughts stumbled over themselves, trying to find an answer that didn't involve the burden of her kingdom or the fear of her powers. "Ice skating," she finally said, her eyes lighting up at the memory. "It's something I used to do with Anna, before..." She trailed off, the joy fading as quickly as it had come.
"Sounds nice. I don't know how to skate. And yeah, I know about that." David trailed off while guiding the dance the other way. "Its not your fault. Accident happens. We just own up to it. Plus, you just need proper guidance on how to control your 'Special Ability'. Someone that can relate. Someone like...me."
Elsa looked at him skeptically. "How can you relate to me?. You don't have powers like I do," she said, trying to keep her voice low so as not to draw attention.
"I do. I am the only person to will and control the power of Dreamlight magic." said David.
Elsa's eyes widened in surprise. "Dreamlight magic?. What is that?." she asked, genuinely curious.
"It's a bit complicated to explain here, but basically, it's the force that keeps Dreamlight Valley alive. It's the glue that holds our dreams together. And if I can control it, I'm pretty sure I can help you with your... 'condition'." David said with a wink.
Elsa felt a glimmer of hope. "How?. I've tried everything," she whispered, her voice filled with desperation.
"All except me." David spoke cocky.
The dance continued, and the two of them moved in harmony, despite their initial awkwardness. Elsa felt the weight of her crown and her responsibilities momentarily lifted as she twirled in David's arms. The warmth of his smile and the kindness in his eyes made her feel seen, not just as a queen, but as a person.
"Your sister," David began, breaking the spell of their conversation, "she's the heart of this kingdom. I can see it in her eyes, the love she has for you and the people here. It's a powerful thing, love. It's the very essence of Dreamlight magic. And both friendship and caring."
Elsa nodded, thinking of Anna's boundless enthusiasm and her unyielding belief in the good in people. "Anna has always been like that," she murmured.
"And it's what makes her so special," David said, a touch of seriousness in his tone. "But what about you, Elsa?. What keeps you going?. Other than trying to conceal your power?."
Elsa took a moment to consider his question, her eyes searching the flickering shadows of the room. "Duty," she replied, her voice strong and steady. "My duty to my sister, to my people, and to this kingdom."
David's expression softened. "But what about your dreams, Elsa?. What do you want for yourself?."
Elsa stumbled in her steps, the question catching her off guard. "Dreams?." she echoed. It had been so long since she had allowed herself to think of anything beyond her duties. "I..." she paused, searching for the words. "I just want to be normal. Do not have to fear my own powers."
"Well, you are pretty darn normal to me. And all in honesty, your powers are afraid if you then you are of it. They are wondering if they will be in charge of it and never abuse them. Never thought of it that way didn't you?." said David, enjoying the live music.
Elsa took a moment to process his words, the concept of her powers being afraid of her was something she had never considered. It was always the other way around. "But how do I make them obey me?." she asked, desperation lacing her voice.
"By embracing them. Your power is a gift and not a curse. Winster isn't dangerous but it can be pretty darn cold. Yet, a good opportunity to snuggle close to the fire and drink hot tea or hot coco." said David.
Elsa looked at him with a mix of confusion and hope. "Embrace them? How?." she asked, her voice shaking slightly.
David leaned in closer, his eyes holding hers. "You have to find the source of your fear and let it go. Fear is what makes your powers go haywire. Once you do that, you'll see that they're not something to be feared but something to be cherished. It's a part of you, Elsa. And a pretty cool one at that."
Elsa's grip on David's hand tightened as she thought about his words. It was true that fear had controlled her for so long, fear of hurting others, fear of being an outcast. The warmth of his hand grounded her, reminding her that she wasn't alone in this. The band stopped playing as it was the end of the music and their dance to Elsa's disappointment. David happily enjoyed the dance as he really loved to connect with Elsa on her level.
The silence was deafening as they stared into each other's eyes. Elsa felt a shift in the air, something she couldn't quite explain. It was as if a wall she had built around herself was slowly crumbling away. "Thank you," she murmured, "For showing me that I can be more than just my powers."
"Its a pleasure. Now, how about some punch, hmm?." David asked as he is looking forward to have a nice cool drink.
Elsa nodded, feeling the beginnings of a smile tug at her lips. "Lead the way," she said, allowing him to guide her to the refreshment table.
The punch was cool and refreshing, a perfect blend of sweetness and tartness that made her feel alive. As they sipped, David spoke of his own world, Dreamlight Valley, and the many adventures he had experienced there. His stories were filled with magic and wonder, a stark contrast to the cold, formal world Elsa had known. She found herself hanging onto his every word, yearning for the freedom and joy he described.
"Your world sounds... amazing," Elsa said, her voice filled with a longing she hadn't felt in years.
David nodded, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "It is. And I think you'd fit right in. In fact, I have a feeling you'd love it there."
Elsa couldn't help but be drawn in by his enthusiasm. "What makes you say that?." she asked, her curiosity growing.
"Well, for starters, you've got the whole 'ice queen' vibe going on. And in Dreamlight, we've got a whole district dedicated to winter. Plus, we could use someone with your... unique talents. It's like having a snow machine on demand." David chuckled, his laughter infectious.
Elsa couldn't help but smile at his teasing. "I suppose that is one way to look at it," she said, taking another sip of punch.
"That, and you could find yourself a nice man that you will be your boyfriend and one day he will be your king." said David, trying not to hint at himself.
Elsa's smile froze for a moment before she playfully elbowed him. "I hardly think that's the only reason you're suggesting it," she said, her eyes sparkling with mirth.
David chuckled, taking her elbow in his hand. "Well, maybe not the only reason. But I do think it's a place where you can truly be yourself without the weight of your past hanging over you."
Elsa felt a twinge of doubt. "But what about my sister?. My kingdom?."
"Like I said, your sister and company can come to. As for your kingdom. It is doing find govern itself before you are the age to run it. I'm pretty sure the people of Arendelle wouldn't mind running themselves again. That is how a community becomes strong." said David.
Elsa's eyes searched his, looking for any sign of deceit. But all she found was sincerity and understanding. "You really believe that?." she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"With all my heart," David said, his gaze never wavering. "But it's your choice, Elsa. If you ever need a place to escape to, Dreamlight Valley will be waiting for you."
"Elsa?..."
Elsa snapped out from her flashback to see Anna setting down a tray of two nice thick sub sandwiches.
"Its time to eat." Anna spoke when grabbing a seat.
Elsa looked at her sister, the memories of her dance with David still fresh in her mind. She felt a pang of sadness that she had to hide this newfound hope from her. "Thank you, Anna," she said, forcing a smile as she took one of the sandwiches.
As they ate, Anna noticed the distant look in Elsa's eyes. "What's wrong, Elsa?. You seem lost in thought," she asked, her own smile fading with concern.
Elsa took a deep breath, pushing aside the thoughts of her conversation with David. "It's nothing, just...memories," she said vaguely, taking a bite of her sandwich.
Anna studied her for a moment before nodding. "Well, if you ever need to talk, I'm here," she said, her voice filled with genuine concern.
Elsa nodded, appreciating her sister's support. "Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The sisters sat in companionable silence, the warmth of the fireplace providing a cozy contrast to the cold, dark reality outside. Each bite of the sandwich brought a sense of comfort, but the conversation with David lingered in her thoughts.
"Any luck woth finding a way to defeat the Forgetten?." Anna asked whiile licking the from her fingers.
Elsa took a deep breath, the warmth of the room and her sister's presence bringing her back to the present. "Not yet," she replied, her eyes straying to the bookshelves once more. "But I won't give up. I have to find a way to save our kingdom."
Anna reached over and squeezed her sister's hand. "We'll do it together, Elsa. We always do."
Elsa's gaze met hers, and she felt a surge of love and gratitude for her sister's unwavering belief in her. "Together," she echoed, her resolve strengthening.
After eating the siblings resumed their work in finding a solution. They believe they did when they seeked aid from the Trolls when they informed them about a magical forest known as the Enchanted Forest. This sparked hope in Elsa so much that she and Anna set sail to the place. Without a moment to spare they arrived at their destinations and had to wear proper clothing to explore to find their solution in the forest. They camped and stay in the forest for weeks in search for their solution. However, the Forgotten had a feeling that Elsa is going to be an issue and feeling that she is going to find a way to defeat him and bring back his original counterpart David, who he has made sure to send him back to the real world.
Forgotten stroked his beard in thought when watching the sisters in the forest in the shadows and had an idea.
"Let's see if your love for David can get you out of this." Forgotten created a dark purplish energy ball and threw it into the sky.
The nature of the Enchanted Forest became unbalanced. The winds are picking up more and higher than it should as it resulted in a massive wind tornado. Rainfall hit heavily while humongous boulders sprouted out like crazy. To make things worse, the little lizard that made contact had gotten scared and nervous to the point it turned itself into a flame and started setting things on fire. Elsa and Anna were panicking like two chickens getting their heads cut clean off.
"Elsa!." Anna called her sister while trying to grab that lizard.
"Anna!." Elsa called out while trying to calm the tornado wind.
Forgotten watched on with a proud grin on his face. "Just to be sure you two remain here."
Forgotten used his Nightlight magic and showered it on Elsa and Anna's minds. The power of the night thorns have darkly clouded and fogged their memories. The forgetting is successfully working on their minds as the results were satisfying to the Forgotten.
Elsa frowned at trying to remember what they were trying to do or why they were here. "Why are we in the Enchanted Forest?. What were we supposed to be doing here?."
Anna shook her head while rubbing her right hand. "I don't know, Elsa. Was there something on my ring finger?. I don't recall."
Without Anna's knowledge, Forgotten had taking her wedding ring off her ring and tossed it into the small lake which upset the balance of water.
"There. Now, I know for sure that nothing is going to stop me or undo what is done." said Forgotten, as he opened the portal back to his dark castle and left.

I made a follow up called The Hero of Dreamlight Valley and will be updating it soon.
Chapter Text
David has been hard at work since five in the morning with early cleaning at the pool area, the bathrooms, windows, and even garbage collecting. What makes it stressful was that he is the only employee that is up and doing all this work before the guests wakes up. His boss had purposely put him on this schedule all by his lonesome. It's awful that he couldn't get any justice for his manager’s wrong doings. He tried reaching out to HR and the Union representative but got the most terrible results of learning that they and his boss are in a click together.
David tiredly yawns before resuming cleaning the tables in the country club lounge. "I am so very tired. I don't know if I can keep my eyes closed."
With whatever energy he has within him, David resumes his work before going to go make some water for his mop bucket. Taking it to the custodian room where a nice long faucet was waiting for him, he put the bucket on wheels underneath the faucet and turned the hot water on. Adding a good amount of Dawn dish soap and concentrated bleach, he watched the water get very soapy and steamy until it was inches away from touching the bucket's brim. After turning the water off and carefully sticking his mop into the bucket, he headed to go mop the floors.
"David!."
David sighs and looks at his manager. "Good morning, sir..."
"Good morning, my ass, why haven't you vacuumed the floors in the gift shop?!." He asked in anger.
David sighs and looks forward. "Sir, I'm just one person. I'm the only one who is up while everyone is asleep. I didn't even eat breakfast."
He crossed his arms. "That sounds like a personal problem. Get your butt up there or I'll deduct your pay!."
David's grip tightened on the mop handle as hot, soapy water dripped onto his sneakers. The steam rising from the bucket blurred his vision for a moment or maybe it was the exhaustion. "Sir, with all due respect," he said carefully, watching the manager's face flush crimson, "You scheduled me alone for three building rotations. The gift shop's on the other side of the resort. This is unfair."
"Do you want money?." He asked.
"Yes." David responded.
"Then get to work or you're fired!." He storms off to another hall.
David feels his stress and depression rising from another argument with his boss. He left his mop and headed to go vacuum the floor of the large gift shop and worked like a loser. As he walked across the cobblestone path connecting the buildings, the rising sun painted the resort in gold as it is ironically beautiful for how ugly he felt. His stomach growled painfully, reminding him that he missed breakfast again. The gift shop's glass doors reflected his exhausted face back at him as dark circles under bloodshot eyes, uniform wrinkled from seven hours of nonstop labor.
"Hmmm." David sees Disney's Frozen merch on the section from toys to girly things. He eyed the plastic heel shoes of Elsa's and felt some type of feelings.
His mind started to give off glimpses of images that are blurry. Seeing a blurry blonde haired woman running and looking back at him with giggles and being very open to being a big kid. So wild and loose to the point her shoes slipped right off her feet, indicating her soles were probably sweaty. David shakes his head before getting away from the section. His eyes can't get off of a cardboard image of her doing a gorgeous pose with a swirl of her hand. He went to finish his work before putting the equipment away and headed to go resume his mopping. Just then he heard a thump and quickly ran to see a woman had slipped and hit the floor due to it being wet. The guy, who is the woman's husband, bents over to check on his spouse before glancing at David with anger.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!." He growls. "What idiot would mop the floor and not put a wet floor sign?!."
"Sir, I'm terribly sorry, but my manager..." David was cut off by his manager of all people.
"David!." The manager's voice carried across the lobby like a whip crack. "You reckless fool, you know damn well about protocols!."
"Sir, you told me to leave my spot to go..." David hears a sharp clap of his boss's hand before he waves his finger at him.
"Don't you dare." He hissed before turning to the couple with a sickeningly sweet smile. "Ma'am, sir, please accept our deepest apologies. This employee will be disciplined immediately." The wife groaned, rubbing her hip while her husband shot David a look that could melt steel.
David opened his mouth in some pathetic defense about the missing wet floor signs being stolen last week, about how he'd requested replacements three times, but the manager gripped his elbow hard enough to bruise. "Storage room. Now." The words slithered out between clenched teeth. The couple's murmurs followed them saying that they should sue this place. David was marched past gleaming windows where Mickey Mouse shaped balloons floated cheerfully outside. They entered the large storage room where his manager gives him an order.
"You are going to unload the truck, separate items, and put them in their proper place." He tells him with no sympathy. "Now get started."
David looks at the opened trailer where it is filled to the front. "I can't do that all by myself!. It's going to take me the whole damn day!."
"Then you better get started now." He walks away and closes the door behind him.
David let the tears fall on his face as he slumped down and cried. "This. Is. Not. Fair."
Finding the will to take on the unfair task that is unfairly been given to him, David breaks each wrapped stacked pallet and puts each item away while putting the plastics in the garbage. Taking the last empty pallet on the stack of pallets for the going out pickup, he sees that today is over as it is nighttime. He clocked out and tried to head for his rundown apartment and crash out on the bed but ordered some pizza. He eats it on the bed while watching a mini movie of Frozen called Frozen Fever. The theme of Elsa making Anna's birthday be very special as they have not celebrated properly due to the gates being closed, their parents dead, and Elsa isolated from everyone. To make a good plot twist, this mini movie includes Elsa having a nice cold for the first time since exiting her bedroom.
In David's point of view he can see it was due to her lack of having a strong immune system. Assuming she hasn't eaten her veggies or taken her vitamins like she should. To sum it up she isn't good in the summer which is pretty ironic since she's all about winter. Watching and eating his pizza before falling asleep while hearing those characters' voices. His eyes were going heavy before he instantly snoozed out.
David's Dream/Blurred Memory
"And here you go, my Snowflake." David sets down a plate of steamed carrots, eggplant slices, spinach, and leek.
Elsa looks at the food that her husband cooked for her and wasn't so eager to eat. "Goss."
"You know, I would most definitely expect this attitude from Anna and not you." David happily sits down. "Veggies are good for you. It would help boost your immune system, so that way you won't get sick during summertime."
Elsa pouts and crosses her arms, looking more like a spoiled princess than a queen. "But I'm the Snow and Dreamlight Queen," she whines, pushing the plate away with one delicate finger. "The cold doesn't bother me anyway."
"But heat does." David pushes the plate back to her. "Come on, I put some yummy seasoning on them to make it taste better."
Elsa wrinkles her nose, then sneezes violently three times in quick succession, her delicate hands barely catching it in time. She sniffles miserably, her usually-perfect blonde braids now slightly frayed from tossing and turning all night. "See?. Already sick," she croaks triumphantly, then coughs into her sleeve.
"That's because you refuse to eat your vegetables." David grabs a fork and picks up a few bites of eggplant slices. "Be a good wifey and eat your veggies for your king."
Elsa huffs dramatically, flopping back against her throne-like dining chair. A ridiculous purchase she insisted on getting at Scrooge's shop before eyeing the fork with suspicion. But when David presses it against her lips, she parts them obediently, chewing reluctantly. Her expression shifts from disgust to mild surprise. "Huh. It's not... revolting."
"I bet Anna eats her veggies with no complaint." David went to reach underneath to grab her foot and remove her shoe to smell inside. "Your feet stink. Just how I love it."
Elsa giggles and kicks him lightly with her bare foot. "You're terrible." She picks up her fork and eats more eggplant with a reluctant sigh. "Fine, but only because you're cute when you're bossy."
"And you're cute when you are spoiled by me." David rubs her foot.
Elsa squeals as his fingers dig into the arches, her toes curling involuntarily. "Stop, that tickles!." she gasps between giggles, knocking over her glass of water with a flailing elbow. The liquid spills across the royal tablecloth, dripping onto David's lap in an icy shock that makes him yelp. Elsa claps a hand over her mouth, eyes wide with mock innocence. "Oops."
David blinks awake to pizza grease on his sheets and the TV blaring Frozen Fever's credits music. He groans, rolling onto his side to check his phone as it reads 3:17 AM, and seven missed calls from his manager. The dream lingers like cobwebs. He dreamt of it but then it's hard to remember what has happened in it. Getting up to rub his face and feeling exhausted on the thought of returning to work.
"Eight dollars and fifty cents an hour is not good pay." David told himself before getting up.
