Work Text:
Of the hundreds of years Lynn has been alive, there has been no better sight than this moment.
She has explored mountain valleys, witnessed the peak of seasons several times over, and seen thousands of sunsets, yet their beauty would not hold a candle.
Not to Jiyeon.
Every angle of the human was majestic. It was easy to get lost in the elegance she exuded. Photos nor paintings could ever replicate the ethereal glow she had in person.
So instead, Lynn resorted to engraving each and every view of Jiyeon into her memory.
And today?
Today, Lynn memorized Jiyeon from over the latter’s shoulder.
She memorized the way the faint beams of sunlight descended onto long hair, highlighting the lighter, slightly sun-bleached strands. Studied the complete peace on the shorter one’s face now that she had finally been able to rest after a particularly long week. She learned by heart the way Jiyeon’s chest slowly rose and fell in her slumber.
Lynn was in heaven.
Jiyeon slept silently against the demon’s front, in her arms. The birds hadn’t started chirping yet, which left just their breathing cutting through the silence of the morning. Tightening the arm around Jiyeon’s waist, she burrowed herself into her shoulder. She could still smell Jiyeon’s jasmine shampoo lingering in her hair.
Time ran both slow and fast for Lynn. It always felt slow whenever her girlfriend wasn’t around yet it slipped through her fingers whenever they were together. It toyed with her, always keeping an inconsistent pace that Lynn could not tell if it was purposefully slacking or dashing miles ahead until it was too late.
And time decided to outrun her once again.
Jiyeon’s alarm rang.
Purple eyes immediately darted to the now blaring phone. Moving as fast as she could without jostling the other woman, Lynn taps away at her phone and wards away the noise.
For a moment, she regains her faith and prays they can stay in this position for just a moment longer.
“Mmmh…”
It was too late. Jiyeon began to rouse, holding Lynn’s arms tighter while Lynn reciprocates the squeezing.
To her utter despair, Jiyeon’s eyes fluttered open. Groaning, she turns to find Lynn watching over her. “Baby, what time is it?”
“A quarter before seven.” Lynn answers way too quickly.
Jiyeon only sends back a soft grunt. She should have lied. Jiyeon will most definitely want to get up and Lynn now has to do anything to keep her in bed.
As a last resort, the demon began slowly pressing kisses against the human’s shoulder. She sees Jiyeon melt into the bed a little more and for a moment, she believes that it worked.
Until the shorter one’s face scrunches up.
“Urgh, I have class.” It very much does not work and in one go, Jiyeon escapes from Lynn’s arms.
Lynn has been transported back to hell.
Silently huffing, her eyes track Jiyeon’s frame walking across the room. Who even needs to attend lectures about Shakespeare? Lynn already met the man and could easily teach anything she wanted to know about him.
The human had reached her dresser, lazily pulling out the last clean pieces of her clothing. Maybe Lynn can hex the professor from here and get class cancelled.
“Kawakami Lynn, if I catch you cursing another human just to spend time with your girlfriend, you’re getting sent to purgatory for a year!” Lynn sits in front of her mothers, gaze cast downward like a sad dog. Red eyes turn towards blue ones and sigh. “Sohyun, we’ve raised a monster of a lesbian. No more wrecking havoc on humans because I can’t keep cleaning up after you!”
Lynn knows her mother most likely won’t actually send her back to purgatory. But on the off chance that she does…
Maybe not. Lynn will just have to be creative today.
“I’ll be right back, babe.” Jiyeon makes it back to the bed, but only places her outfit down before departing with a quick smooch. Lynn wishes that it lasts ten times longer. She heads off into the bathroom, leaving the demon alone with the clothing.
She stared at the stack.
Just Lynn and Jiyeon’s clothing.
Given the slow pace Jiyeon started her day, Lynn has maybe 15 minutes before she comes back from the bathroom.
15 minutes to come up with a reason for Jiyeon to skip her lecture.
Next to the bathroom door, she can see their combined pile of dirty laundry. The hamper its in is almost overflowing, containing most of their outfits from the week.
She looks back at the clean stack on her bed.
… Maybe she won’t need all 15 minutes.
—
Jiyeon knows she’s not crazy.
But she swears she placed her clothing on the bed before she went to the bathroom.
And now the clothing wasn’t on her bed.
“Maybe I am crazy…” she briefly mused.
Stuck in only her sweatpants and a sports bra, Jiyeon searched her dresser for a third time. Despite very vividly remembering that she placed her outfit on the bed, her hoodie was the only piece missing from the bundle.
Needing to confirm she wasn’t plain stupid, she turned to her lover still lying in bed.
“Baby, are you sure it wasn’t there?”
“Hundred percent, love.”
There was a slight glint to Lynn’s eyes that bore into Jiyeon. Perhaps there was something ominous about the dim lighting of their room, but the demon had some sort of mischievous aura around her.
“Come here, love.” Lynn opens up her arms and waits to see if Jiyeon will approach. “Perhaps you should skip. It’s so early. You’re almost done the required amount of attendances anyway.” It was odd hearing the demon egg her into skipping class—Lynn was the one to make sure she actually woke up for classes when asked. Maybe she hadn’t asked to be reminded last night?
Whatever this sudden air of devilry was, Jiyeon can’t lie and say it doesn’t enhance Lynn’s already sharp features. The shadows of the room made her arms look even more comfortable than they felt a couple minutes ago. The idea of hopping back into bed and snuggling right into Lynn starts sounding really tempting—
Never mind. Jiyeon still has to get dressed.
… With what though?
Her last clean hoodie has been seemingly eaten by their comforter, leaving her no other tops. In theory, she could dig through some of the clothes she already worn during the week, but that would be nasty.
Damn the attractive demon in her bed that coaxed her into leaving laundry for the next day.
She could ask for said demon’s clothing, but would that go with her sweatpants? Lynn mostly wore black clothing leaning more on the formal side of the spectrum. It’s barely seven in the morning and does she really want to be changing pants and putting on a full blown outfit to be listening to rambles about Sonnet 18?
Maybe she should just go out like this. Although, it’s not exactly weather to be wearing just a sports bra. The lecture hall will probably be even colder, which makes it even worse.
She could just throw on a jacket?
Jiyeon looks at the hooks on their door and rifles through their closet.
She could throw on a jacket if she could find her jackets.
Slumping, she looks back at the bed. Stares right into Lynn like a sad bunny.
… Things would be a lot easier if the blanket didn’t completely swallow her hoodie.
She specifically saved that exact hoodie for today. Jiyeon knew that she would need all of its comfort and fluffy lining to push through the morning or else she would never make it out of the dorm.
The bed should have consumed her. It’d be better for her sanity to just give up the search. Her arms were already forming goosebumps and everything in her screamed to return to the warmth Lynn wrapped her in.
Her head hits the closet door and a hollow thump is heard between the two. She didn’t even want to go to her lecture in the first place, but she especially doesn’t now.
“Ah, is this it?”
Jiyeon’s head snaps in the direction of the demon.
She’s holding her hoodie.
She’s holding the hoodie!
“Yeah! Where did you find it?” Glancing at her phone, Jiyeon did quick calculations. She already missed the bus at some point in her pointless search. If she threw the hoodie on immediately, gathered her things in 5 minutes, and burst into a full sprint to the building, then she could make it with maybe 3 minutes to spare at most.
She has to get that hoodie now.
Eagerly, Jiyeon moves towards the bed. Had she looked any further into it, she would have seen the immense focus in Lynn’s eyes. Would have noted the way Lynn so randomly found it after adamantly pledging that the hoodie wasn’t ever on the bed to begin with.
But the human didn’t notice.
Jiyeon reached out for the hoodie, only for it to dissipate into purple and gold shimmers when she finally grasps onto it.
“Huh?”
She blinks once, giving the demon time to pull her back under the sheets and fully confine her to the prison of her arms.
Jiyeon suddenly finds herself on top of her girlfriend’s chest and completely locked in place. She is noticeably much warmer now that she’s laying on her radiator of a girlfriend, but too stunned to enjoy it.
“I lied. You can attend next week’s lecture. You’re not going this week.” Lynn plants on Jiyeon’s head. “I’ll help you catch up on whatever you missed, but you’re not leaving this bed.”
“Where did you even send my hoodie? And the rest of my jackets?” She gives an experimental shift that ultimately leads her nowhere. Lynn’s arms are completely locked in place, pinning her against the demon. “Baby, c’mon! I have to go to class. Let go.”
Lynn makes no difference to how she holds Jiyeon.
“A pocket dimension. I’ll take it out after your class ends.” Jiyeon can feel soft, rhythmic pats against her back as Lynn’s hold loosens. “You’ve been busy this week. Missing one lecture won’t kill you. Go back to sleep.”
With the new range of wiggle-room, she shifts upward to meet Lynn. She props herself up on one arm while using the other to palm at the taller one’s abs.
Jiyeon makes sure to notice a lot more. She can see the softness in the demon’s eyes and the light pink dusting the tips of her ears. She makes note of how Lynn’s hands immediately move to her hips, allowing her to move but not leave her hold.
“Hi.”
“Hello.”
“You realize I’m still going to go, right?”
Lynn’s hands grip her sides harder.
“You won’t.”
“Baby, give me back the hoodie.”
The demon guides the human’s head back down into the crevice of her neck.
“You don’t need it.”
“I need it to go outside—let me up!” The hand at the back of Jiyeon’s head trapped her in their position. She often underestimated the demon’s raw strength. “Babe, you can’t just hide my clothing when you want to cuddle longer!”
“Except, that’s precisely what I did, love.”
… Jiyeon can’t argue with that.
Lynn shifts them both on their sides and cradles the smaller one in her arms. “You haven’t slept this long all week. You were so peaceful before your alarm rang and I didn’t want you to waste energy on a class you don’t have to attend.”
Thinking back on her busy schedule exhausted her. On top of her normal classes, group projects had flooded her timetable for the week, and Jiyeon still sprinted to practice every day.
Noticing the new sinking motion into her, Lynn joked. “I knew I was more comfortable than that hoodie.” The purple hues seemed to lighten slightly. “If you really want to go, I won’t stop you, love. I’ll pull your clothing out.”
The human weighed her options. Going back to the harsh classrooms and listen to her grouchy professor ramble on about literature or staying in the comfort of their room with her girlfriend caressing her.
Jiyeon was tired.
Jiyeon doesn’t want the little comfort that hoodie would have given. All she wants to do now is to drown in Lynn’s love.
The decision was not difficult.
Jiyeon drills herself into the demon’s chest.
