Work Text:

“A fantastic morning to you, most cherished and amazing creator!” greeted Sunstorm ever enthusiastically as Starscream ambled into the common room for fuel.

“Yeah, sure,” he returned far more unenthusiastically, eyeing for a way to get around the eager young Seeker to the storage room. As he did, he noticed a couple of packages in his hands, held towards his sides. “What’s all that?” he asked.

“Oh!” exclaimed Sunstorm, bringing the boxes around to hold them in front of him. The boxes were tied up with simple blue bows. “These are for you! I hope you like them, tragically simple though they may be.”

Admittedly curious, and definitely not one to pass up a free gift, Starscream took the two boxes, looking them over a second before tearing into the larger of the two. Inside was a collection of pale blue squares, and he couldn’t help staring at them widely in shock. “Energon goodies?! I haven’t seen any of these in…well nevermind how long.” He grabbed one of the special treats, not wasting a moment sticking it in his mouth and cherishing the rich rush of energy from it. Junk fuel for breakfast? Yes, please. “Where did you even get these?” he asked as he grabbed another, the second box in his hand moving to be tucked under his arm to better facilitate sticking more goodies in his mouth.

“Slipstream’s brilliant energon purifier was completed perfectly! My cooking skills fell regrettably short, but she was so talented and made this wonderfully tasty batch,” replied Sunstorm, grinning proudly.

That gave Starscream some pause. “ Slipstream made these?” he reiterated skeptically. “ Why ?” he added now a bit suspicious.

Sunstorm’s smile faltered ever so slightly, “Um, well--”

While he stammered for an answer, Starscream moved to unwrapping the smaller gift, his expression dropping flatly when he held a small cup. He turned it over in his hand, rubbing at his head when he saw characters of the native Human language engraved in the side saying ‘#1 Dad’.

“Happy father’s day?” offered the young jet, with an awkward and hopeful smile.

“Is this another fleshie thing?” asked Starscream completely unnecessarily with the evidence right in front of him. Before he could get into another proper lecture about organic human things being beneath them (again), he was interrupted by another one of his creations appearing in the room in front of them. Skywarp was looking even more nervous than usual, his wings faintly shaking as his optics darted over to Starscream and away again. “H-here-this-is-for-you,” he rushed out as quickly as he could, swiftly handing over another package towards his creator before disappearing as quickly as he came.

Starscream stared at the box blankly -- this one didn’t even have a bow on it -- but he still wasn’t going to just turn down free stuff so put a pin in debating with Sunstorm to open it. A painting sat inside of a Cybertronian skyline, and Starscream could only stare at it silently for a heavy moment. “....he did a pretty good job for never seeing Cybertron before,” he commented absently.

Sunstorm nodded eagerly in agreement. “We all tried our very best to make this day as special as you deserve!” His countenance dropped slightly as he added hesitantly, “A human tradition though it may be, it seemed only fitting to utilize a celebration that a creator as spectacular as you are due, since there is sadly no Cybertronian equivalent.”

“Wait, what do you mean all of you? You convinced everyone to get on board this ridiculous Earthling scheme?”

Sunstorm neither confirmed nor denied any prodding, convincing, or begging he had done to get his siblings to go along with doing things for the Earth holiday, but his knowing and slightly guilty expression spoke volumes.

Starscream looked over the presents in his hands, even if he felt like rolling his optics at the silly mug. He couldn’t deny that thinking of a whole day of this sort of treatment stoked his ego, and his judgmental frown soon turned to a grin. “Well, I’m not going to turn down a day honoring my greatness,” he quipped.

Sunstorm brightened cheerfully, saying again more certainly, “Happy Father’s Day, wonderful creator!”

“But let’s just call it ‘Starscream is great’ day or something else instead,” inputted the older Seeker quickly, not wanting it to seem like he was giving in to Sunstorm’s human nonsense.

Sunstorm nodded in agreement no less cheerfully. “You are amazing, indeed! Happy ‘you are a great creator’ day!” he pronounced amiably. And Starscream wouldn’t argue with that one.

Notes:

Where did Sunstorm get a massively oversized novelty coffee mug? Who knows?

Hope you enjoyed the senseless fluff. Drew the little picture first aaaand then I realized it was father's day so I just had to write something. And I had a few headcanons floating around that I wanted to put somewhere. Namely my HC that Sunstorm wishes he was good at "cooking" with energon, but just sucks at it, lol.

Thanks for reading thing, comments, kudos, etc always appreciated!
