Work Text:
One day, in the Spice Desert, the wise and elite war strategist, Herald of Change, has been bored for a few days now without anything to do. No action. No strategies to make. No doing the things he usually does.
He was so bored, that he decided maybe Fount of Knowledge has some interesting books for him to read in the meantime.
-cut to him strolling through the shelves alongside Fount-
He grumbles as he goes through the selection of books. Each he either had read a thousand times, or ones he never had any interest to at all.
"Hrgh.. so many books, yet I've read most of them.." He groans.
Fount of Knowledge chuckles.
"Well, you haven't gave the other books a try." He said softly.
Herald just sighs, before leaning against a shelf.
"But they're boring. And too thick. It would take too long just to finish a quarter of them."
Fount could see the clear boredom in the other Virtue's eyes.
He went up to the taller man, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Herald blushed from it.
Fount chuckled from how simple it is to make the warlord flustered.
"Well, maybe we could visit that town square I've heard so much about.." He said as he leans himself on the other virtue.
Herald thought of it for a moment. The kingdom up north (where I'm assuming our kingdom is and if not I will call myself an idiot) has a town square that's apparently very beautiful as well as being a popular spot for cookies to hangout.
"Well, I could use a change in scenery.. after all, just looking at the same desert can get bland overtime.." He spoke softly as he gives Fount a kiss on the forehead.
"Yeah, same with being in this spire.." The smaller virtue replied, now rubbing his face against the taller Virtue's neck.
Herald chuckled.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go." He said, being impatient as usual.
Fount just laughs softly.
"Alright, you big brute, let's go.." He said, as he leads Herald out of the spire.
-later..-
Getting off the horse carriage, Herald was a bit in awe as he saw the town square. There were many other cookies here and there, chatting, playing. It was a busy day, it seems.
Fount was more less the same.
"Wow, so many cookies.." He murmured. Herald nods in agreement.
As they walked to the center, they were greeted by a cookie who looked to be the advisor of the town.
"Hello, new cookies- OH MY! Fount of Knowledge? Herald of Change? Welcome! It's an honor to have Virtues in the town!" The cookies said in excitement.
Fount chuckled at the cookie's bright attitude, while Herald crossed his middle pair of arms smugly.
"Hehe, well, we've heard talks about this place, thought we might pay it a visit." He said.
Fount nodded, agreeing with him.
"Yes, and since we're currently a bit bored at the moment, we thought it would be nice to visit a new place, and possibly make friends!" He said, now getting a bit excited at what this town could offer.
The cookie giggled.
"Well, I'm glad, because this will be an unforgettable experience for you two! I'm Caramel Choux Cookie, the town square advisor!" She said as she bowed down to them.
Fount couldn't help but smile from the amount of positivity that radiates from her.
"My, aren't you a positive one? You make me smile by simply being near you." He said.
Caramel Choux giggled.
"Well, thank you, Fount of Knowledge! All cookies have always said that to me, and it always makes me so happy!" She said.
Meanwhile, Herald was groaning in boredom.
"Grah, can we get a move on? I want to explore this place already.." He said, crossing the middle set of arms at Fount.
Fount just chuckles.
"Apologies for him.. he's always impatient." He said, before kissing Herald's cheek.
"Alright, alright, my love, we will.. but we do need a guide as this is our first time here in the Square!" He said, as he looked at Caramel Choux Cookie.
Caramel Choux nodded.
"If that is what you need, then I'll be happy to help!" She said, as she turned around.
"Follow me!"
And the two followed her. While they were doing that, other cookies were shocked at seeing not just the Fount of Knowledge strolling through the town, but alongside the Herald of Change as well! They couldn't help but greet them.
"Virtue of Knowledge! It's very good to see you!"
"Is that the Herald of Change!? Oh my witches!"
"Welcome to the town square, Virtue of Knowledge!"
It was as if they were celebrities. To which they actually are.
-much, much, much, later..-
Today was tiring, but fun day. Even Herald had fun.
The two met so many new cookies. They met Street Urchin Cookie, who seemed to be Caramel Choux Cookie's friend.
They also met several cookies who handled the storefronts! Granola Cookie is a practitioner of Weaving Magic, which made Fount very interested. They asked her to give them a showcase, and so she did. After a few minutes, the two came out, with Herald having an embarrassed face because he has a fluffy white bunny beret on his head. Fount thought it looked adorable on him.
Then, they met Sugar Coat Cookie, an optimistic clothier. He was SHOCKED to be hearing that both the Fount of Knowledge AND the Herald of Change were visiting his store, he cleaned the area up so fast, there was not a single speck of dust in the corner even. He showed them around his store, giving them a look at different costumes and hairstyles for the cookies outside.
Then, they met Headmaster Jellizard, who may have had the same exact reaction like Sugar Coat Cookie. He introduces them to the Cuckoo Square Academy, which is a small academy, but very good nonetheless.
After that, they went to the town square's post office and had accidentally met the Maltriever Pups. They seemed to like Herald very much, it made Fount laugh a few times.
While they were on their way back to the center of the town square, they were stopped by the Pointy Punks. Caramel Choux says that the three were once a gang, doing unspeakable things to the town square center all in the favour of their boss, who they idolised, which is Street Urchin. However, Street Urchin denies being their boss, which made them a bit pouty. However, the poutiness were gone as soon as they were asked by Herald, if they had caused any trouble in the past. The three very quickly shook their heads, and ran off, to which Fount gives Herald a gentle smack on his shoulder.
And so, they got back on their carriage, and said their goodbyes to the new cookies they have met.
And since it was turning night, Herald wanted to stay with Fount.
And here they are now, cuddling together on Fount's bed, whispering sweet things into each others ears.
"My big, strong, Herald..~" Fount said, a bit teasingly.
"My kind, smart, Founty..~" Herald replied, with a smirk.
And whatever happens next is up to your imagination, people, because I am currently crying because these two are my practically my favourites.
