Summary:

What could possibly happen when two ex-rival food trucks meet up to play a silly teenager game?

Chapter 1: Frances & Penny

Chapter Text

Two trucks parked near each other with a group of people in between them. And in the middle of the group, a bottle glistening in the moonlight, waiting to be spun.

“…so, who wants to be the spinner?”

“…”

“I guess it’s me then…” A hand grabs the bottle and spins it around.

The bottle lands on… Frances.

The bottle is spun again, and it lands on… Penny.

The two women who have been chosen make their way to one of the trucks and go in through the back doors. Once the doors close behind them, the game begins.

“Wow, the Zomburger truck is…” Penny trailed off as she looked around the makeshift kitchen. Soda cans were on the floor. The walls were moldy. And of course, she stared at the mysterious stain in the corner for a bit too long. “…uh- very- very hygienic!”

“Heh, yeah.” Frances grinned. “You’d think that we’d have time to clean up this place since-” Frances cut themself off, and their expression soured.

“…since the incident.” Penny turned around to face them and hold their hand. It’s been a week since the incident at the Food Truck Expo.

“It’s just- it’s not fair. Disappearing like that without a proper goodbye. And- also killing your boss.”

“I personally don’t think that he’s dead.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Well, he did fight an elk.”

“And won?!”

“Ehh, not really. It was.. complicated.”

A beat of silence passes before Penny pipes up again. “Did your boss wrestle with animals too?”

“What- no- I don’t think so?? But he did do some weird things. Like, he was straight up obsessed with Steve.”

“That tracks.”

“And he kept saying stuff about ‘sticking to the script’ or something.”

“You guys are theatre majors, right? Maybe he wanted to see your acting.”

“Hm…” Frances stared off into the front of the truck, specifically looking at the windshield where a very dusty funko pop figure of Cesare stood. Frances shook her head before speaking. “Also how’s the little one doing?”

“Oh Avery is doing great! She keeps asking when you’re gonna come over again!”

“Hell yeah.”

Another beat of silence passes as Frances thinks about something that she wanted to ask for a while. “Do you… think that we can… reveal our relationship to the others? Now that we’re not on enemy sides anymore?”

Penny’s cheeks flushed, and she looks even cuter than with her clown makeup on. “Oh!- I mean- Sure! If you’re alright with that!”

“Okay good, good.” Frances scratched the back of their neck as a small blush appeared on their cheeks as well.

Suddenly, the back doors abruptly opened. “Time’s up.”

The two of them stepped out of the truck and returned to the group.
