Work Text:
Ava crossed the bridge of what was the Crimson Raider’s ship, the Sanctuary 3, taking note of everything her eyes saw, if she were to be honest, more than a ship this one felt more like a small flying city, complete with all of its different and colorful people.
At her side, Maya took her and led her through it with the confidence of someone that had been here multiple times, despite seeing the ship for the first time too.
But she did know the people.
At the centre of command, a woman with bright red hair stood, her lips curving into a big smile as she laid her eyes on them.
As did Maya when the woman’s name fell from her lips.
“Lilith.”
“Maya.”
Looking in the eyes of her teacher, Ava couldn’t say she ever saw her smile this way before.
She looked…
Genuinely happy.
She had wanted to be here, where she belonged.
The blue haired siren was quick to change attention to her, introducing Ava to her friend, before allowing her to go unpack her things.
The kid scurried away, doing as she was told, but kept around the corner to see what the two women were up to, something didn’t sit right, Maya was acting too weird if anyone asked her opinion.
Also she wouldn’t lose the chance to listen in to some information she could use to bribe people.
It didn’t take long to see Lilith take Maya in front of the door of her own room, and for the red haired woman to wrap the siren in a soft and heartfelt hug.
Hug that was followed by a tender kiss on the Athenian’s lips.
“I missed you…” she heard Lilith whisper, as she buried her head into Maya’s shoulder.
“Me too.”
The redhead’s fingers slowly traced the blue shining markings on the siren’s left arm, her yellow eyes distant.
“We’ll get yours back too.”
Little did she know that Maya’s silver eyes had the same look to themselves.
As if she didn’t believe the words she spoke.
But for now, for this once, Ava let this go, turning around and closing the door, pretending she never saw anything.
