Work Text:
Vixen is sitting on a rooftop, a basket set to the right of her, a couple bottlenecks sticking out of the top. She’s sitting on the edge, looking out over Gotham’s skyline. The city is shrouded in darkness, as to be expected in the dead of night, though the rain clouds rolling overhead certainly aren’t helping. The city is silent, save for the animosity brewing between citizens, rearing its head via violence, as is typical here. She tilts her head back, bringing the glass neck of her beer to her mouth, taking a gulp. Suddenly, she hears footsteps behind her.
“Hood,” she states in lieu of a proper greeting. She doesn’t even look up from where she’s circling her finger around the mouth of the bottle.
“Still don’t know how you always hear me,” he grumbles, taking a seat to her left. He set his helmet to his side, looking across the city. As always, he couldn’t see much due to the infernal pollution, but it was gorgeous nonetheless.
Vixen melancholily holds out an unopened bottle from her basket, still not taking her eyes of her own. “Is this poisoned?” He attempted to joke, but it landed flat, ending with her shaking her head sombrely. “Marinette? What’s going on?” He questioned, tentatively reaching out to put a hand on her shoulder.
“Adrien died three years ago today,” she stated with a deep sigh.
“Oh, Vix,” he softly stated. She started crying, her sobs echoing off rooftops. He gently pulled her against him, arms ripping around her waist as she laid her head on his shoulder. He unbraided her hair, tenderly running his hand through it.
Her sobs lessened before she went silent. Red Hood looked down at her, noticing she was dead asleep. Not wanting to bother her, he stayed still and quiet, once again looking out over the city skyline and continuing to run his hand through her hair.
