Chapter Text
#1 - Budding
On a sunny spring day in a blooming field, she shed the timid image others gave her, shouting to the sky that she would prove she was more than just the so-called future Rhyhorn Racer, while he vowed to explore the world to grow wiser and more honest, both young kids of Vaniville Town standing side by side—unaware, yet faintly sensing each other—as their journeys quietly began.
#2 - Fashionistas
Serena and Calem were their hometown’s stylish gender counterparts—she in a red felt hat with a black ribbon and white wide-frame sunglasses with dark lenses, and he in his signature red cap and black wide-frame shades.
#3 - Presence
The spring-loving duo were hard to miss—Calem tipping the front of his red cap in greeting, one hand in his pocket as he walked with short strides, while Serena tilted the side of her felt hat, clutching her purse with the other hand, striding gracefully ahead, both wrapped in their usual mysterious, knowing aura.
#4 - Cloudgame
Serena laughed when Calem guessed Minun, though she saw Plusle, and he smirked back with a playful challenge—after all, what better way to spend a breezy, beautiful day than lying together on the grass, guessing which Pokémon the clouds resembled.
#5 - Momentum
Serena laughed, clutching the edge of her hat, as Calem cheerfully pulled her by the hand down Lumiose City’s North Boulevard, eager to grab their incredibly late breakfast at the Galette Stand before dashing to the museum to explore Kalos’s mysterious history, with the breeze cheering them on.
#6 - Encounter
The Vanville Duo exchanged sheepish grins, having just snuck out of the Pokémon Center in the middle of the night and realizing they’d run into each other, only to turn and face a brilliant light—the source of their sudden sneaking: a majestic, stag-like Pokémon with four pairs of multicolored, branch-like antlers, a coat of blue, black, and pale gold, a V-shaped chest marking, upward-curving horn-like ears, and a regal aura that lit up the dark night as flower petals drifted around the awe-struck pair and the breathtaking, unknown creature.
#7 - Unmatched
In Santalune City, the other trainers looked on in amazement as Calem and Serena spoke to the strict, no-nonsense teacher in calm, confident, precise tones, volleying sharp points until the teacher finally paused and raised a hand in surrender, prompting loud cheers and applause, while the two exchanged mysterious smiles and high-fives—it made perfect sense that the enigmatic doppelgängers and prodigy kids would be the top students at the Trainer’s University.
#8 - Misfire
Serena, caught between laughter and tears, and Calem, barely resisting a facepalm, listened as the Shabboneau Castle butler vaguely explained what was supposed to be Mega Evolution—but was really just standard evolution—though at least they got a Pokéflute out of the whole confusing mess.
#9 - Naturally
In Laverre City, Serena cheerfully waved as the door opened before turning back to the others, while Calem—fresh from a light rainy stroll with a Shalour Sable in hand—resisted a snort at the sight of her somehow already befriending the entire Pokémon Fan Club.
#10 - Waltz
Calem smiled as he took Serena’s hand and spun her around, her laughter ringing out as they waltzed through the rain and swirling flower petals that danced and blurred around them.
