Forbidden Fruit

Summary:

“Besides,” the vampire enounced as her body closed in on you, her icy breath hitting your warm face as you stood still in the same spot. “I see you’ve come here prepared.”

As your head rose in confusion, the lower part of your nightgown was being pulled up. Soon, your inner thigh felt the touch of a few fingertips and the pressure of sharp claws, and God, you didn’t even know if you should feel flustered or disgusted right now.

“You!”

“Hmm, me?”

The woman could only smirk upon spotting your mixed reaction, her grip tightening without the intention of letting go. “And newly coated with those precious flowers too, hmm? It stings to the touch.”
You certainly were an… interesting opponent to her, quite unpredictable—which was partly hypocrisy in her eyes.

Tending the sick, teaching the youngest members of the nunnery embroidery, taking care of the garden, and reading books. That’s what your usual day at the abbey consists of until one fateful night, your path crosses with a certain vampire.

Trying my best to update frequently <3

Chapter Text

Life is not fair, is it?

When has life ever been fair to people like her?

The situation she and her father were in was entirely God’s fault. The aches in their feet, the dryness in their throats, and especially the anguish in their hearts upon losing the person most dearest to them.

“Dad,” she mumbled as she looked up, eyes red from crying, “where are we going?”
“Somewhere far away, my dear,” said the tired man as he kept walking to somewhere unknown, “a place where the two of us can be at peace again.”

Watching the common folk suffer was God’s favourite pastime anyway; the great man up above the heavens cared little about people like her, favouring the wealthy and the men more. The lack of faith and good intentions never seemed to bother God, who always turned a blind eye to these unbiblical characteristics.

The girl sighed, the tiredness getting to her at this point. The tiredness had claimed her long ago; now, only exhaustion remained. Didn’t her father realize that the distance they were walking was way too much for a child? She wasn’t nearly as strong or big as her dad: two – no, three – of her steps barely matched one of his. Weird, last time she was counting her steps, one footstep of her dad’s was equivalent to two of hers.

I wonder what kind of place dad is taking us… If we can be at peace again, then surely it must be extremely far! I hope we sail across the sea, I wanna see all the fish. Oh! I also want to taste the sea, it probably can’t be that salty, right?

Her thoughts continued for a while, jumping like a grasshopper from one unrelated topic to another until they came to a halt when the man holding her hand spoke up, “You’re tired, aren’t you? You’ve walked quite well, I’m impressed!” Their tired gazes met, and with a smile plastered across her dry lips she nodded.

Effortlessly, the man put her on his back, one hand supporting her tired body as the other held a huge bag. What did her dad even put in that bag? What could he even possibly take with him in a situation of life and death? Not that it mattered that much anyway, she was too tired to care as her eyelids fluttered shut. Her consciousness visiting the realm of dreams as she hid her face from the setting sun.

God prefers prosperity over benevolence. The little girl learned that all too well after her mother had to bid her farewell to this world forcibly.
