Everyone in the Amagi-Satonaka household awaited the married couple’s arrival. Chie and Yukiko had something big to announce, so they had invited everyone. The rest of the Investigation Team, Ryotaro Dojima, his daughter Nanako, his girlfriend Margaret and Marie were in the living room, excited.
“Wonder what Yukiko and Chie called us for. Must be pretty big, they got everyone here,” Yosuke wondered out loud.
“Hey, Nao, what’s up with you?” Kanji asked his wife, Naoto, whose leg kept bouncing in place.
“I bet she’s already figured out what the announcement is,” Rise said, leaning over to Naoto. “Oh, Naoto, won’t you tell us?” She batted her eyelashes at the detective.
“Pretty pretty please?” Teddie joined in, doing the same, his eyes glittering.
“Sorry, Rise, Teddie, but I promised to keep it a secret. It’s theirs to announce,” Naoto said, making the two pout. “But I admit, I am excited for them to reveal it to you.”
“Yeah, you all gotta wait as well,” Ryotaro chuckled.
“You know what they’re going to announce as well, Dad?” Nanako asked.
“Yes I do. Sorry, but you’re still gonna have to wait until they’re ready, okay?”
“Aw, but my heart's pounding so fast! I can’t wait any longer!” Teddie complained, clutching at his chest dramatically.
“Teddie, come on. Be patient,” Yu said.
“Oh, ok, Sensei.”
“Hey, I get it, Teddie. I’m pretty excited to see what the big announcement is myself,” Yosuke agreed.
“AND YOUR PATIENCE HAS BEEN AWARDED!” Everyone turned around, to see Chie slide into the room. She quickly gathered herself, and looked at everyone with a wide smile. “Ok, guys. Thank you all so much for waiting here. This is… this is a huge deal, for me and Yukiko, and we’re super excited to show you what we’ve done.” She was bouncing on her heels, filled with energy.
“So, what’s the big announcement?” Marie asked. “Seriously, I’m getting goosebumps from just waiting.”
“Well, me and Yukiko, a long while back, we were discussing something really big. So we discussed it for a while, and we came to an agreement that we were gonna do it.”
“What is it?!” Teddie was literally vibrating on the spot now, only held down by Rise, putting a hand on his shoulder as he bounced up and down.
“Ok, everyone, it’s time for you to meet…” Chie went to the doorway, and pulled back the curtains to reveal Yukiko holding something.
Yosuke and Kanji did a double take. Yu’s eyes widened as his mouth fell open. Teddie let out a huge gasp. Nanako and Rise let out excited shrieks. Marie jumped up in surprise. Naoto, Margaret and Ryotaro smiled wryly, seeing everyone’s reaction.
Yukiko was holding a baby boy in her arms. “Everybody, meet Akira Amagi,” she said.
“OhmiGOSH!” Rise squealed with pure excitement, as everyone walked towards Yukiko.
“Holy crap, you guys- he’s- you guys adopted?!” Yosuke said.
“Yeah. We took one look at little ‘Kira here, and immediately decided he was the one,” Chie fondly said, gently poking at Akira’s cheeks. The little baby mumbled, but seemed to enjoy it.
“Awww, he’s such a little cutie!” Rise gushed.
“Hey, uh… can I do that as well?” Kanji hesitantly asked. Chie and Yukiko nodded, so he gently poked Akira as well. Akira turned to him, blinking, and let out a happy noise. “This… this is the best.”
“Aw, are you sniffling?”
“Shuddup!”
“Naoto, Dojima-san, Margaret, thanks for helping keeping the secret for us,” Yukiko said.
“It was our pleasure,” Margaret smiled.
“I knew it! I knew you guys knew!” Rise said.
“Excellent deduction, Rise,” Naoto sarcastically but good-naturedly said. “We were the ones helping them with the paper-work, and the interviews for the adoption to go through fully.”
“Yeah, and Margaret was able to figure it out, and she promised to keep it a secret as well. She was pretty excited as well,” Ryotaro chuckled.
“Oh my gosh,” Teddie slowly realized something amazing. “Does this mean… I’m an UNCLE?!”
“Yeah, it does Ted. We’re all uncles and aunts now,” Yosuke said.
“YEAHHHH!” He cheered, jumping up and down. Akira giggled at his excitement. “As the uncle, I’m gonna teach Akira all sorts of important lessons! Like how to-”
Naoto stopped Teddie in his place by pulling his ear. “Now, Teddie. Don’t be foolish around Akira. We have to be good influences to him, especially when he’s at this young an age, okay? That means watching ourselves.”
“Yes, Nao-chan…”
“Wow, are you planning to be strict with Akira already?” Yu teased. “Do you want him to call you Shirogane-san?”
“Very funny, senpai. I’ll have you know I’m fine being his auntie Nao-Nao.”
“Pft, auntie Nao-Nao, that’s so…” Chie took hold of Akira, while Yukiko began chuckling. “Hee-hee haha! That’s such a funny name!” As she underwent her classic giggle fit, Akira took notice. He watched Yukiko giggle, and as if it was infectious, he began giggling as well!
“Oh my gosh, his laughter is so cute!” Nanako said, joining in giggling.
“Oh no, he’s got Yukiko’s humour,” Yosuke sighed. “That isn’t a good sign.”
“Hopefully, his taste in jokes will improve with age,” Yu gravely nodded.
“As if your humour is any better, Yu?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Sure, okay.”
“Aw, I can’t wait to be the favourite aunt!” Rise gushed.
“You think you’d be his favourite? It’s on, Kujikawa,” Marie challenged. Sparks flew between the two.
“Gasp! A battle between aunts to earn the title of best aunt! Will Nao-chan throw her hat in the ring?” Teddie dramatically said, like a sports announcer at a game.
“I’d prefer not to.”
“Boo…”
“I’m gonna give him so many gifts, and teach him to dance- AHHH, we’re gonna have so much fun!” Rise held her head in her hands as she spun on the spot.
“Hey, hold on, you shouldn’t spoil him too much,” Ryotaro chuckled at their enthusiasm.
“Aw, why not?” Teddie asked.
“Yu, Naoto, please make sure they don’t go overboard with anything,” Chie said.
“We’ll try our best.” Yu saluted and Naoto nodded, while Teddie and Rise pouted again.
When Akira was sitting in Yukiko’s lap, he was reaching out to Yu. He held Akira in his hands, and then everyone got a turn at holding him.
Kanji gave Akira a piggy-back ride on his shoulders. Rise excitedly held Akira close to her, making cute noises as he reached for her hand. Naoto was a little nervous about holding a baby, but Kanji and Rise giving her support helped her.
When Teddie got hold of Akira, he held him like Rafiki held up Simba from the Lion King . “PRAISE THE BABY!” He cheered.
“PRAISE THE BABY!” Chie, Yukiko, Nanako, Yu and Rise all cheered. Everyone else laughed, and Akira giggled as well, making happy noises.
When Ryotaro got to hold Akira, he grinned. He was reminded when he saw Yu as a baby. Nanako was ecstatic to hold little Akira, her wide smile proving infectious, as the baby boy began smiling widely as well.
Marie also felt a little awkward holding Akira, but he seemed to like Marie, and that made her heart melt, and she couldn’t help but go “aw…”, blushing a bit at it. When she remembered everyone else was watching her, she quickly gave Akira to Margaret, while muttering “stupiddummiesdoyoumind-”.
Margaret gently held Akira, while looking right into his eyes. Akira stared back, curious, while Margaret seemed to be studying him… and she gave a small gasp. “Hm? Margaret, is something wrong?” Ryotaro asked.
“Oh, it’s nothing,” She quickly said. Ryotaro looked a little confused, but shrugged it off. But Marie saw it, and frowned slightly.
The rest of the evening passed by, as everyone played with little Akira. Eventually, it was time for everyone to leave for tonight.
Everyone said their goodbyes, leaving the Amagi-Satonaka home. “Oh my gosh, little Akira was just so cute!” Rise gushed.
“I can’t wait to play with him! We’re gonna have so much fun and we’re gonna be best buddies!” Teddie cheered, jumping up with excitement.
“He was certainly enjoying all the attention,” Naoto smiled. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be a bit of a showman.”
“He’s got a lot of energy,” Yu agreed.
“Seriously, I never saw this coming from them,” Yosuke said. “This is huge…”
“I’m sure Yukiko and Chie are going to be the best moms ever!” Nanako said. “No doubt about it!”
“Heh, I agree with you on that, Nanako,” Yu smiled, as he held Yosuke’s hand. “And Yosuke and I are going to be the best uncles.”
“Hell yeah!”
“Hey, what about me?” Kanji asked.
“Don’t count Teddie out as well!” said the boy, popping up, waving his fists in the air. “I will fight for the title of favourite uncle!”
“We’re kidding, guys-”
“Tomorrow morning, TV, you and me.”
“PARTNER!”
“Just kidding.” Everyone laughed.
As everybody dispersed back to their homes, Marie went to Margaret. “Hey, Margaret, can I talk to you for a bit?”
“Of course.” Ryotaro and Nanako went ahead back home. “What is it?”
“Why did you gasp when you stared at Akira?” Marie asked, raising an eyebrow. “You’re never caught off guard like that.”
“I…” Margaret furrowed her eyebrows, putting a hand on her chin. “Do not repeat this to anyone else, understood?” Marie nodded. “...I sensed something from Akira. This kind of power that Yu has… Akira shares it as well.”
“You’re kidding,” Marie said, her eyes widening. “That kid’s going to be a freakin’ Wild Card? He’s gonna go on his own Journey?”
“I believe so.”
“Crap…” Marie breathed out. “So, what do we do?”
“I should inform Master Igor of this… But I already know what he will say. We can’t interfere with his Journey. It must happen.”
“Ugh… So, what can we do?” Marie let out a groan.
“All we can do is help prepare him. Teach him skills that will help him for his Journey,” Margaret said.
“Guess so… But, hey. With parents like Yukiko and Chie… I’m sure he’s gonna be okay.”
Margaret smiled. “Hm. I agree.”

Chie and Yukiko were in Akira’s nursery, as they gently set him down into his crib. The married couple smiled peacefully, watching him sleep. “Man, he looks so peaceful…”
“He was certainly soaking up all the attention everyone gave him,” Yukiko said, the two giggling. After the laughter, Yukiko noticed however, that Chie seemed a little bothered. “Chie, what’s wrong?”
“I, uh…” Yukiko put a hand on her shoulder, and Chie let out a shaky breath. “I’m a little nervous, you know? It’s just, this is really big, and I… I…”
“Hey, it’s okay.” Yukiko cupped Chie’s face in her hands, making her look her wife in the eyes. “You’re nervous. I get it. I’m a little… ok, well, pretty nervous myself. But we’re doing this together, and I’ve got your back, throughout it all.”
Chie’s eyes watered a little, before she smiled back. “Yeah… and I’ve got your back as well.” The two shared a gentle kiss. “I love you… You’re going to be the best Mom.”
“And I know you will be too.” Yukiko smiled. “Wait, who should be Mom and who should be Mama?”
“...Can I be called mom?” Chie eagerly asked, and Yukiko giggled.
“Of course.” They turned back to Akira, smiling as they watched him sleep.
“We won’t let him down.”
“No. No we won’t.”
