Charlie's heart was heavy. He was worn thin, a deep set exhaustion from a myriad of things hanging over him, weighing him down. Things he didn't want to talk about or even think about. And yet still, dinner must be cooked, laundry must be done, kids must be washed and fed.
The monotonous grind unchanging, unrelenting.
At times it could be so hard.
But despite it all, moments shine through.
Darcy's teasing laughter, Isaac's quiet assurance, and at the end of the evening, Nick's arms holding him, squeezing, crushing him with warmth.
Those moments, they last, and outshine the rest.
