Suitcase Mail System

Summary:

Aleph and recoleta still being penpals in the suitcase is a thought I have often, l'd like to think they pass the letters to other people until it slowly gets to each other, the paper is wrinkled and sometimes dirty from the multiple hands it went through just to get to the other

Notes:

I write sometimes

Work Text:

With a fold of the paper and a seal on an envelope, a letter to a redheaded pen pal is created, simple by all means. Despite quite literally living in the same place, the two had chosen to utilize a rather odd mail system, letters passed from person to person until eventually they reached their intended recipient.

This letter was no different; upon being sealed and signed in Recoleta’s cursive, the letter made its way to the hands of Blonney, who complained about the simplicity and plainness of the letter before handing it to Horropedia. There's no way to say Horropedia didn't try to deliver the letter, only that after a few minutes of folding the letter, thinking about it, he forgot about it entirely and inserted a movie’s VHS tape into its player. The folded letter then fell into the ghostly hands of Click, who was visiting to take a candid picture of Horropedia in his element.

Click always tries his best to help Recoleta’s unusual mail system; after all, he was bound to stumble upon the recipient as he takes pictures around the suitcase. With Click, the once white envelope becomes a tinted grey from the ash and dirt covering the ghost’s hands. On the search for the intended recipient, however, the grey ghost’s path is stopped as he pulls his camera out in an attempt to capture a picture that has eluded him for what felt like centuries, Zima, who was showing his poetry to Pavia whilst on a walk. Unknowing to the distracted ghost, in his haste to pull out his camera, the letter fell into the hands of an inventor who was already walking away, folding the letter in the process. In the pocket of X’s jacket, the letter makes its way to Regulus’s room, where the pirate was working on repairing her record player.

A dusty, ashy,  folded letter sticks out from X’s pockets as Regulus grabs it and hands X a record, her hands unfolding the letter and reading the name before raising her voice to tell X to be careful with her precious music. The letter fell to the floor amidst the chaos, where a young lady in an emerald dress picked it up. Sotheby happened to be walking to see what the commotion was when she found the letter, crumpled and dusty, the cursive name just barely legible among the chaos that the letter had gone through. With a determined face and bright eyes, Sotheby carries the letter all the way to Aleph’s room, sliding the letter under the door and walking away cheerfully. In Aleph’s room, a small letter with a cursive name and wax seal finally makes its way to its intended receiver, now waiting only for Aleph to reply.

It isn’t a perfect mail system; it would be much easier for the two pen pals to discuss mail matters with Vertin or even talk to each other in person rather than over mail; however, the crumpled-up and dusty letters that go back and forth between the two make it feel more real for them, at least their mail isn't getting regularly lost.
