Crème Brûlée With Green Sugar

Summary:

This is a short Story set in the same universe as Spun Sugar is Green. You do not have to read Spun Sugar ois Green to understand this; it might help, but it is not necessary.

Let's see Mori make the Greatest mistake of messing with the Ghost Kings' Ghostlings.
And what happens when truths are revealed?

Work Text:

It was a perfectly ordinary day for him; he was at the agency doing his usual mix of lying around and completing work. The kids were at school doing whatever they do. Or at least he thought so. He was writing something down when his phone rang.  He doesn’t recognize the number, but something in his core urges him to pick it up. So he does, he picks up his phone and brings the phone to his ear.

“Hello?” Dazai asks.

“I have something you.. Or, well, someone you want” sing-songs a all too familiar voice, Mori’s.

“What the fuck did you do?” Dazai whispers into the phone; he feels a pull on his core, the connections to his children.

“Oh, just paid a visit to my precious Wraiths tots. After all, it's so nice to meet them, you should have introduced me earlier”, Mori purrs darkly, and Dazai can practically hear the cruel smirk.

“If you laid a fucking finger on them, you will know fear beyond your wildest nightmares”, Dazai growls, barely able to keep his voice from crackling like a broken radio.

“You'll just have to visit,” sing-songs Mori darkly. And then he hangs up.

“That bastard,” Dazai growls as he slams the phone down, barely containing his rage.

Dazai stands up abruptly and starts to storm towards the door.

“Dazai wait-!” Kunikida calls as taks a step towards Dazai, reaching out with one hand.

“I don't have the time, Kunikida,” Dazai bites out while looking over his shoulder as he rips open the door and steps through, the door loudly closing behind him.

Dazai calls the school and daycare just to check, and when they say that the children are unaccounted for and they were about to call him, he growls in fury. Dazai then pulls on an old connection and calls for Fright Knight, telling them that they need to be on ready for a siege. Dazai plans to go first, but he wants the army ready just in case he finds it necessary.

He knows exactly where he is going, storming straight towards the heart of Port Mafia territory, right where the headquarters are. It barely takes any time at the speed he is going to reach where he needs to be. He kicks squarely through the door and tears through any who stands in his way. The smart ones run the moment they see him. He is honing in on the pulse of his children's cores. He sees the familiar thick wooden door, and he storms over like a miniature hurricane, ripping the door wide open.

“Mori! You bastard, where are my children!?” Dazai growls as he steps into the room.

“Ah! Dazai, so good to see you again,” Mori says with a smirk.

“Don’t act so casual, Mori. I asked you a question,” Dazai growls, barely able to contain himself. Unbeknownst to Daza, his eyes are faintly glowing green in a ring around the edges. Dazai can feel Andromeda’s core the strongest because she is the most stressed. Ellie and Dante are less distressed, but they aren’t happy, and he can tell that they are nearby.

“Oh, don't be like that, Dazai-kun, can't I just want my old prodigy to visit?” Mori draws

“No, no, you can't. You bitch” Dazai hisses.

The sound of footsteps can be heard approaching, but Dazai pays it no mind, not caring.

Meanwhile, Chuuya, Kōyō, and Akutagawa come rushing towards the office due to being told that Dazai, of all people, stormed in like pure fury given form, and he was violent.

As they make it to the office, they hear what is clearly Dazai’s voice, and he is yelling.

“If you have hurt my children! I will personally, Rip . out your eyes, and Shove them down your throat. So you can see my claws, Tear Your Caracass Open !” It is Dazai’s voice that yells this, but his voice crackles like electricity.

As they step close enough to see into the office, they see Dazai towering while glaring at Mori.

“Now, now Dazai-kun. No need to be so violent, they are perfectly fine.” Mori says as he raises his hand in a placating gesture. “Elise, would you be a dear and bring them in?” Mori says while looking at Elise, while still keeping an eye on Dazai from the corner of his eye.

Elise walks over to a door and leads out three children, and Dazai is the only one who actually recognises him.

“Little ones!” Dazai says, relief bleeding into his voice. The children barrel towards him, the little boy holds a smaller child in his arms as they rush into Dazai’s arms.”

“Papa!” Shouts the little girl who looks to be around four. She has dark brown hair, bright crystal blue eyes, and freckles.

“Dazai has kids?” Chuuya mutters quietly, still standing in the doorway.

“Ellie, sweetie,” Dazai says softly as he pulls the other two children into his arms. “Are you alright, little moon?” Dazai says softly. The little boy has burnt umbar colored hair and chocolate brown eyes. He also looks around four. The youngest child, a little girl who looks to be around one and a half years old, has light ginger colored curls, honey brown colored irises, and constellations of freckles.

“Baba, mean.” Says the other little girl, and she points her tiny, chubby hand at Mori

“Oh.. Meda. It’s alright, I'm right here,” Dazai says as he takes ‘Meda’ from the little boy. “Dante, sweetheart, are you alright? He didn't hurt you, baby, did he?” Dazai says to the little boy.

“No, baba. I bit him.” The little boy says, very proud of himself

“Good job, Tay,” Dazai smirks as he stands up, the two four-year-olds grasping his legs while the younger child is cradled in his arms.

“Come near my children again, Mori, and I will make you regret every breath you have ever taken and then some,” Dazai says with dark promise, glaring at Mori. Then Dazai turns on his heel, but stops when he sees Chuuya in the doorway.

Chuuya can actually see the children's faces and can't help but notice how much they look like him. Dazai shoves down his panic and easily scoops up the two four-year-olds and rushes past, moving swiftly.

Chubby whips around and takes off after Dazai.

“Dammit, mackeral, get back here!” Chuuya growls as he chases after Dazai.

Dazai continues rushing, absolutely not ready or willing to explain the kids, especially not to Chuuya. Dazai barely manages to evade Chuuya.

Unbeknownst to Dazai, Mori took a little DNA sample from the kids and had it run. Mori did this because he knew Dazai would escape, and he just wanted to cause a bit of chaos. Well, that and hge wants to know if his theory is right.

Chuuya returns after losing Dazai in the maze of the halls.

“Ah, Chuuya, welcome back,” Mori says, folding his hands under his chin.

“Mori-san, what was all of that?” Chuuya says.

“Just proving a theory, and I actually got the information I wanted,” Mori says, pleased with himself. “Actually, why don't you take a look?” Mori says as he sets a paper with lab results on the desk.

Chuuya carefully picks up the paper and finds himself shocked at the information listed on it.

“What?!” Chuuya breathes out, absolutely caught off guard.

Indeed,” Mori says.

“Boss.. I-..sorry, I need to go,” Chuuya says as he stands still, very out of it from the shock.

Chuuya walks out of the office, walking without a destination, just feeling the need to go. This information is world-shattering for him; he's a dad. Somehow.

Dazai has returned to his home and is hidden away in his house. He has his children safely nestled in a pile of blankets, keeping them safe and satisfying his instincts to protect his kids. All three of them are safely curled up and asleep while he stays on guard, watching over them.

Chuuya has gathered his thoughts and is now hunting Dazai down for answers. It is far more difficult to figure out where Dazai lives, but he does it because he knows Dazai well enough. He tracks Dazai down to a modest two-story house out of the way of the city, closer to the edge of the city. The outside of the house is painted a simple white, with a normal shingle roof. There is a well-maintained garden bed out in the front and a fenced-in backyard. Chuuya walks up the path to the door, suddenly feeling slightly anxious because it hits him that he very well could be meeting his children right here, right now. He knocks on the door.

Dazai’s head shoots up when he hears a knock on the front door downstairs. He expands his senses, trying to detect any ill intent. When he doesn't feel any, he slowly crawls out of his nest and reminds himself to shift his tail back to legs and back into human form. Dazai makes his way down the stairs and peers through the peephole of the door, and is surprised to find Chuuya standing there, giving off a vaguely nervous energy. But Dazai opens the door slowly, peering out at Chuuya.

“What on earth are you doing here?” Dazai asks.

“I want to see them,” Chuuya says.

Dazai tenses, feeling defensive.

“Why do you want to know?” Dazai asks his voice low with warning.

“Whoa, Whoa.” Chuuya holds up his hands . “I'm not going to hurt them, I just want to see the kids that share my DNA,” Chuuya says, his voice soft as he tries to soothe Dazai.

“You better not.” Dazai draws. “Come inside, the kids are asleep,” Dazai says as he steps to the side to let Chuuya in.

The inside of the house is cozily decorated and clearly shows signs of kids living in it, with drawings and toys scattered about. Dazai leads Chuuya over to the living room couches with blankets thrown over the back of them.

“Do you want something to drink or eat before we talk, because I'm not waking them up just because you want to see the” Dazai says.

“Just water will do. …Thanks,” Chuuya says

Dazai gets a glass of water and returns to the living room for it, handing the glass to Chuuya.

“Right, go ahead and ask,” Dazai says.

“Where did they even come from?” Chuuya asks.

“Well, technically, I birthed them,” Dazai says. “But it is kind of complicated, and I do not feel like starting that conversation right now,” Dazai says.

“And how is any of this possible. The youngest is too young for me to remember ever being with you at that time; I hadn't even seen you.” Chuuya says

“So I'm just going to drop this on you without explanation. But I was carrying Andromeda for like two years. And I was carrying Ellie and Dante for about as long back before I left, actually, they were born about a month after.” Dazai says and then turns his head towards the stairs. “Oh, look, they are awake. I'll be back,” Dazai says as he gets up and quickly goes up the stairs.

Dazai just leaves Chuuya there with that information.

Dazai goes upstairs and finds that all three of the kids have actually woken up. Dazai explains to them about Chuuya being here and asks if they want to come down and meet him. All three of them agree to go, and Dazai scoops up Meda and Dante, and Ellie toddles behind him. Dazai carefully helps them down the stairs.

Chuuya is still reeling from the bomb-drop when he hears footsteps come down the stairs, and his breath is stolen from him when he sees the kids. Chuuya can pick out how much they look like both him and Dazai.

Dazai walks over and helps the kids get comfy on the couch.

“My name is Dante, Baba sometimes calls me Tay,” Dante says with all the self-importance of a four-year-old.

“My name is Ellaine, but I go by Ellie!” Saya Ellie enthusiastically, not one to be left out.

“I'm Meda..” Murmurs Andromeda, who is unable to say her full name. She lifted her head from Dazai’s chest to say this.

“Andromeda,” Dazai says softly, correcting.

Chuuya practically melts when they introduce themselves.

“Hi kiddos, I'm your other father,” Chuuya says, his voice laced with awe.

Ellkie looks up at Dazai. “Is that true, Baba?” Ellie asks.

“It is Ellie,” Dazai says softly.

Ellie looks back at Chuuya curiously. Dante looks judgey. Andromeda looks amazed and curious.

“Well, then, Papa. Hi!” Ellie exclaims.

“I suppose you're acceptable,” Dante says, but his slight lisp really ruins him trying to be serious.

“Hi..” Andromeda waves with her chubby little hands, and she smiles with her few baby teeth poked through her gums.

Chuuya looks at Dazai.

“Can..can I hold her?” He asks slightly hesitantly. Dazai looks and Andromeda and then nods. Chuuyta carefully takes Andromeda from Dazai’s arms. He holds her and looks down at her. He feels like his worldview has narrowed, and she is the only thing that matters.
