Chapter Text

This was Gen's first time over seas, he was selected to be an international exchange student from America, his main study courses was psychology and business. He was lucky enough to be sent as a representative from his high school for a whole month. Out of the four exchange students he was the oldest being a year 13. The other students that was sent on this trip were.

Luna, Gens sister 3 years younger than him, a bit knowledge in Japanese not that Gen was much better of course. Chrome a brilliant scholarship student And Ryusui, he was the most fluent out of all three of them. Despite being fully Japanese his parents sent him to America for studies as a punishment for "spending too much" that is what he says, unfortunately for them he is back.

The first school day in this exchange student event was rather stressful Gens part at least. Gen was fully jet lagged, busy with the school tours and cultural exchanges with his new classmates. They were a little too excited to ask questions and they ended up asking him why he had a Japanese name. He doesn't mind answering that he was adopted, thankfully though Luna has distracted them with a different subject.

Afterschool Gen and Luna are about to go to go home to their host family's house. They were supposed to be with their host brother but he's currently competing in a archery competition so he wasn't there to help them get back home. Crome and Ryusui had gone to their host family. Ryusui insisted to go to his families pent house but the school rejected that idea.

They arrived at the train station after being lost in the different platforms, when they arrived at the correct platform Gen made eye contact with a person with striking crimson eyes, he was awestruck as if he wasn't just panting from trying to get there on time.

Once they arrived back home about 30 mins late, Mrs. Saionji looked at them with worry. Lucky they got home safe albeit being late. Gen messaged His dads that he and Luna were back home with the with their host family Safe and sound. After he sent the message he immediately got a reply from Stanley.

"Ok, Thanks for the Update. Gen make sure to keep you and your sister safe. Goodnight Am gonna start dragging your father to bed before he finishes his assigned work that is not due for the next 7 months. Anyways have fun, son."

"Goodnight dad, say goodnight for father for me <33"

Gen looks at the time it was 4: 30 P.M Luna was talking with Mrs. Saionji/Mrs. Mariposa. Were talking about med school and how Luna wants to be a Doctor.

Mrs. Mariposa or Mari is a nurse and was telling her all about her studies as a nurse. Despite being a immigrant Mrs. Mari was fluent in Japanese and Luna was stuggling with her pronounsiations but Mrs. Mari helped her all throughout the process. Gen was chopping some vegetable for some Miso soup, curiously listening to the conversation then the front door opened. It was Mr. Saionji Suji.

As he entered the home greeted everyone. Setting down his bag and hanging up his coat. After Mr. Suji set his personal items down he goes to hug Mrs. Mari, as he finished up he went to help them prep in the kitchen. While doing the prep work he talked to Gen about his experiences in the US, helping him with his pronunciations and grammar while practicing to speak Japanese, When Gen did not know the word Mr. Suji would start to speak in perfect English so he could understand what he was saying.

Soon dinner came and went, and the home slowly went silent throughout the young night, well young in terms of the Snyder household. It was about 8:30 when Luna came in his shared room to say goodnight, As she dries her hair from her hot shower, she looked rough and tired from the day so she’ll sleep early.

Gen laysdown his bed he was not use to this early, but Mr. and Mrs. Saionji had early because they both had morning shifts to do so this was reasonable for them to sleep. Gen opened his phone and he looked at his blogs and posts, It was currently running on pre-scheduled uploads so he would still have 2 weeks. Well that a good break, but that doesn't mean he wont record content, or the dreaded editing of these videos.

Gen sighs, exhausted from all the activities he went trough today, not to mention again but he’s still jet lagged ,got lost in the subway system, not to mention his social battery was almost out. Don't get him wrong he has a lot of socialization practice you know being a magician and social media influencer, but his mental and physical still took a toll on his body and psyche. Lucky they arrived in on Thursday early morning and the start of their schedule is Friday.

After going trough all his accounts and all the skeduled posts he figues that he should go take a shower. Drying up his hair he couldent help himself from opening Tiktok as he stumbles into a account dedicated to arcades and there to find them around Tokyo. Tomorrow there will be a limited time Sanrio pop up arcade near the area. He wonders if he and Luna can go tomorrow. Hopefully they can find her favorite character, Mocha.

After saving the location Gen went back to Tiktok, after a few minutes he passed out after doom scrolling, as in he was fully knocked out, tired and drained from the day.

Date: February 10, xxx

Gen wakes up 8:30 in the morning. As he got up from the bed and grabbed his phone. he noticed that It was hot from the constant repeat of a Tiktok for the whole night, thankfully it was fully charged with the wire plugged in.

As he opened up his messaging app and looked at his notifications. It was Xeno texting him good morning It was sent at 11:30 pm. And the following message.

"Good Morning Gen, I believe that it is 11:30 Pm there in japan when i send this message, It appears that you are still Online. Son please sleep earlier and take care ok? I have sent you and Luna's allowance for the week take care

-Xeno"

Gen Replies, "Sorry, I just woke up and I Did Sleep early! I just accidentally left the phone open over night, Umm yeah."

"Thank you for the Allowance! Btw dad what time is it there?"

Gen walks to the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth, after his morning routine he walks towards the living room to see Luna fully awake with eye bags. He walks over to his sister and asks her what happened, and it seems that her body has not adjusted to the time difference and chose to keep her awake all night.

Luna is half asleep when he asks her if she wants to go to a the Sanrio Pop Up Arcade, She said that she was too sleepy, but she insisted that he could go without her, because she didn't want to bother Gen with taking care of her. After all the is all independent and can take care of herself.

Gen was hesitant to go but Luna insisted for him to go anyways. So after eating some breakfast that Mrs. Mari cooked for the both of them, he sets out with a mission. Get Luna as much of her favorite character! Mocha.

Senku arrives at the train station headsets on hand as he boards the subway, Taiju puts his hand on Senku's shoulder and asked him if he wanted to go anywhere tomorrow because Yuzuriha wanted wanted them to hang out. Senku ultimately knows that it’s useless to say no so he agreed.

Although Senku doesn't really care to go outside when he can just stay at home reading he did want to spend some time wit his friends, not that he really had a choice in the matter Taiju the big Oaf will just carry him out either way. When he got home he started to prepare a folders for the exchange student thet he was buddied up with.

The following day he was still busy preparing the folders for a exchange student. He was recommended by several teachers because he was fluent in English, So against his own judgement he agreed. He was suppose to meet up with him on Friday but his flight from Africa was delayed and he arrived in the country too late. To meet his Buddy, so he would try and make up to to them at least. When the time came he prepared a casual outfit to go outside with.

Taiju and Yuzuriha agreed to meet up near a Café to start the day off with some breakfast, So they entered and got a seat. Senku knew that he was third wheeling these two, full well so he just observed. But for some god awful reason both of them think its just a hangout. ‘Dear god they were both dense.’ Senku thought as he sips on some mocha tea while taking a bite on some quiche.

After eating Yuzuriha planned for them to go to a rare pop up arcade apparently they had some of the Rarer Sanrio characters to win. So they went by a quick train ride to the pop up arcade. Taiju and Yuzuriha were talking about their favorite characters while Senku kept on typing on his phone some it was a message to the sciance club he was explaining a scientific process (He somehow maxed out the amount of characters you can send). Eventually he quickly finishes it so he goes on Tiktok and sees a clip of a American Tv show and their guest.

It was Gen Snyder a magician, of course Senku knows that these magic tricks were just "Tricks" but he couldn't help him self to feel enamored by the way he talks so smoothly and his movements were fluid and easy on the eyes, eh was in a trace only to be broken by Taiju.

Taiju looks over his friend and what he was watching asking him in a loud voice that Senku quickly points out so he lowered his voice. And Senku simply said that it was a random video. Taiju knows something is up but he cant tell what it was so he lets it go.

Yuzuriha tells the two boys that the next Subway stop is theirs, but she notices the video on Senkus phone, It was a magician that the Tweens/preteens she baby sat always watched on their devices. but she just thought that Senku liked his content too so she didn't ask.

Google maps directed Gen to to the subway thankfully he knows enough Japanese to asks for directions and thankfully he could understand said directions, to be honest this was not the best idea to go by himself but he is dedicated to get something for Luna, It would be a bit harder because he could not read Kanji yet.

After walking a few mins he finally arrives to the platform he's supposed to board, making sure to double check with a staff member near by. After boarding the train gen looked at his messages to see that Xeno replied a hour ago.

"It is currently 8:35 me and your dad are going to get a massage so we might not be able to respond to you and Luna's messages.

-Xeno"

Gen just added a checkmark reaction bellow the text to say that he has read the message. The he just decided to text back anyways.

"Luna is at our Host families house, she's currently jetlagged. She's not feeling the estbay. So am going out to get her some stuff. I know where am going yes, I have told the host family. Have fun!"

The last part was a lie but not for long at least. Because he quickly texts Mrs. Mari to tell her What he’s going to do and where he is going. Like they say lies are half truths.

It only took Gen a few stops before he had to get off. Now he just needs to fallow the map. After a 20 min walk from the station Gen arrives at the pop up arcade It is way bigger than he thought. This was not just a arcade this was a full on mini café with a arcade and connecting merchandise shop. Gen looks at his balance and his mouth went agape. 44, 535 yen in his account, this was weekly?! Gen was shocked until he remembered that this was His usual allowance money in the US.

Gen told himself mentally that he was not going to spend that much to save up his money. Until he found this claw machine with Luna's favorite character, Mocha h needs to get that plush! No matter what.

Senku, Taiju and Yuzuriha exit the train and make their way to the Pop up café now that Yuzuriza explains it further. Senku was panting from this 20 minute walk from the station, he was not built with endurance at all.

When they arrived at the place It was packed with couples and Valentines stuff, Senku felt out of place essentially being the a third wheel to his bestfriends. He wanders around while Yuzuriha and Taiju were preoccupied with a claw machine trying to win a Pompom Purin plush.

He was just wandering around until someone caught his eye another person alone, he seems to be loosing over and over again, Senku interested just wonders if he is trying his best to win it over a sour girlfriend or he’s just a genuine fan. Eventually after watching the man fail for the 9th time Senku went over to him.

Gen looks down on his hand this was his final token in reality it has been his 20th try at the claw machine. He is starting to feel bad for hoarding the machine for a while. in total he has spent a total of 4k on this claw machine. after his last try another person with with green and white hair approached and inserted a coin, suddenly he got it with so much ease too, What the hell?!

Gen was amazed at this, he struggled so much trying to get the plush. Then he remembered that he wont be able to get the plush now since he didn't win it. The green haired man ducked down and got the plush raised his hand holding the plush trying to give it to Gen.

Gen looked at him confused and stared at the Mocha plush that was held towards his him. The man looked at him and lifted his hand forward.

"Here, I saw you struggling and I thought I might help you"

Gen has short circuited with this gesture and did not fully register his Japanese.

"Oh, Thank you But please you won it, please do take it" Gen says in broken Japanese nervous about this sudden social interaction stumbling on his words, as he forgets most of the Japanese he has learned.

"Take it" the green haired man insisted.

Gen refused to take it and said that he won it fair and square so he can keep it. The boy kept on insisting to give him the plush.

"C'mon man, Just take it I just felt pity when you kept loosing, 9 times in fact so just take it man"

Gen's face heated up in embarrassment that some one saw him fail that much, Though he was thankful that he didn't know that he spent a lil too much on one single claw machine 26 dollars he was quite frankly saddened by this but he wanted to make Luna happy at least.

So he looked at his bag and took out another plush, it was a Badtz Plush holding a heart, with Japanese writing on it. Gen just took it as a trade. looking too embarrassed at the whole situation as he placed the plush in his hand as he took the Mocha plush.

Gen said his thank you and rushed out embarrassed by the whole thing. Thankfully he already took some of the take out he ordered for Lunch.

Senku looks at the plush that was given to him as a trade. It has "Will you be my Valentine written on the heat that it was carrying was he just asked out?! Yuzuriha walked over to Senku holding a some Plushies that Taiju won.

"Senku, Did someone ask you out?!"

Taiju walks over and Freaks out seeing the plush. Senku quickly calms down Taiju before they make a massive scene.

"Nah, I just help the dude out in the claw machine he kept loosing so I got him the plush. In return he gave me this..." Senku says looking down at his hand, somehow he looked familiar but he couldn't quite place it Oh well.

Gen arrives at the train station, he has spent more than he thought but it was worth it, he thinks. He did get a new Cola bottle and some food. So it must be worth it. And he met that guy...

Stupid Gen just left and not asked his name.

Gen looks at the previews encounter, He was shorter than him but he was good looking, his eyes sharp and calculating. Not mention his demeanor he seemed so concerned for him.

Gen had a few crushes before but it was weird to fall for someone he literally just met! Then Pa system rang signaling that his train had arrived. Well he'll think more of this helpful stranger that has gotten him all flustered later but the current goal is to not get hurt or lost in Japans subway system.

Chapter Text

Senku looks at the plush that was given to him in exchange from the one he won, It was oddly adorable it was a little duck character? he doesn't really know, he was oddly infatuated with this gift. He is 80% sure that the black and white haired man just gave it as a exchange but 10% of himself felt butterflies and embarrassment. He was pretty sure that the claw machines were rigged anyways and he only won it because the poor man bought the machine to pity -Like in gacha games- and he stole the pity.

Yuzuriha went over senku and asked him if he wanted to eat some something in Café after all it was lunch time. So Senku figured why not, all three of them entered the café, he looked at the menu, It was surprisingly cheap but Senku figured that the money makers were the Claw machines after all, that poor man he tried 9 times only to fail trying to get a single plush. Senku sigh’s and figured that he can at least try something new.

As Senku looks at the menu he see’s that it was mostly cakes and snacks so he ordered a Badzt’s Lemon cola drink. It was the character that the black and white haired man gave him so he figured why not try it. He tried the drink it was not as bad as he thought It tasted really refreshing since its starting to get hotter in as spring rolls in.

Senku decides to get something for his sisters so he he got them some Macaroons and some cupcakes, as they finish up their food. Senku, Yuzuriha, and Taiju went out to pay. As they step out Taiju was talking about the new exchange student program that the school is hosting, apparently there was a popular person overseas that will be apart of the exchange students.

“Really! They say that this dude is super famous abroad. Do you guys think its Real?!”

“Well, Maybe I think they might be talking about the heir to the Nanami company” Yuzuriha says

“Nanami? Whos that?” Taiju says

“It’s the biggest shipping company in Japan, I think” Yuzuriha replied.

“No, I don’t think it’s him at all! Plus people say that he’s on like Tv too, and I have never heard of this Nanami guy” Taiju said back.

“Huh, Well we’ll see on Monday I guess. By the way Senku who were you assigned to be with as a buddy?” Yuzuriha says.

“His name is Snyder.” Senku replies his hand finger picking on his ear.

Gen arrived at the house at 2:30 p.m He took longer than he thought. as he knocks on the door a white haired boy opened the door and looked him.

The white haired boy looked at him and said “Hello! you must be Synder Gen right?”

Gen looks at him and remembered, that this must be his host brother. “Yes, I am! You must be Ukyo?”

“Yeah, Nice to finally meet you Synder. Sorry please come in!”

“You can call me Gen, it’s alright.” Gen says as he walks in the house and removes his shoes.

“Your sister, is doing better I got her some paracetamol. She told me that you went out so I was worried that you might be lost”

“Well to be honest, I did get lost though it was not as bad as Friday”

“Oh dear, am sorry to hear that. Am sorry that I wasn't there to help you guys”

“It’s alright. Plus we home safe and sound.” Gen says as he puts down some of the food he got from the pop up café.

“I got something, here you go. It’s a macaron from the Pop Up café me and Luna were suppose to go to, I got her some food as well so ill just give it her.” Gen says as he lays out some of the macarons that he bought.

“How generous of you, Thank you Gen” Ukyo says as Gen gives him a Macaron.

Gen walks over to his Sisters room and he knocks on the door. “Helloo, Luna may I come in?”

“Yeah, enter.” Luna says from inside the room. Gen opens up the door to see Luna sitting down on the desk. She had her English and Japanese texts books opened up. “Hey you feeling better?” Gen says sitting down the bed besides the desk. “Yeah, Have you met Ukyo? He thankfully gave me some paracetamol.” “Yeah I heard that's great, I got something for you, though It may have melted…”

Gen gives Luna a Almost melted Pompom Purin strawberry ice scream float. “Well, Certainly melted for sure, thanks though” she say in a teasingly mocking way at Gen.

Gen pushes her head “You meanie! I only went because they had your favorite character” gen says his lips pouty and sarcastic as he puts down his hand from pushing Luna’s head away.

“Wait, For real? They have Mocha plushest?!” Luna exclaimed, in excitement. You see there was barely any Mocha merch in any of the Sanrio merch stores that Luna went to in the Us so it makes sense that she is exited to get her little blorbo.

Gen grabs his bag, and he opened it then he pulls out a Mocha plushie. "Oh, my GOSH!!" Luna squealed in excitement. "Thank you, so so so much!! It's perfect!!" "Your welcome gen says: smiling.

"Well it's great to see that you are feeling better Lun" Gen says. "Am going back to the my room now to put down some of the stuff I got." "Ok then, I'll see you later" Luna says as Gen stood up to leave.
