Dipper Pines sighed as he sat down at the kitchen table. He hadn’t slept well. Dipper had had another dream about…..summer vacation. Specifically a certain puppet show. He rubbed the small scars on his arms- which, as far as his parents knew, had been caused an accident that definitely didn’t involve dream demons of any sort- but his thoughts were interrupted by Mabel, his twin sister.
“Wow, looks like someone got up on the wrong side of the bed!”
“Now is not the time, Mabel-“
“Oh, come on, don’t you know what day it is?”
“Umm….Saturday?”
“It’s Christmas Winter Break!”
“It is- oh right, it is.” He hadn’t remembered that when he woke up.
“Do you think we’ll have Christmas Vacation this year?” his sister asked hesitantly. “And do you think Dad will come?” They sometimes went on some kind of Christmas vacation- usually just to the beach or something- but considering the events of the past few months, that didn’t seem likely this year. Not since their parents divorced- which, apparently, was the real reason the twins had been sent to Gravity Falls for the summer.
“I don’t know Mabel. I hope so.” He smiled sadly at her , but Mabel caught the look in his eyes.
“Wait a second, I know that look- did you have another nightmare last night ?”
Dipper sighed, “Yea… this time it was the sock puppets-“
He was interrupted by Mabel wrapping him in a hug, “Bill is dead , Dipper. That will never happen again.”
“I know that Mabel. I’m not panicking or anything, see?” Manel had helped him with quite a few panick attacks in the past few months. And he had returned the favor whenever she tried to-
“Are you two alright?”their mother asked as she entered the room and witnessed the hugging.
“Y-yea we’re fine Mom! Mabel is just a little excited for Christmas, that’s all.” Dipper said as he pushed Mabel off of him.
“Like you’re not excited to, bro-bro!” Mabel said, punched his shoulder affectionately ,”and mom , we were wondering….are we going on Christmas Vacation this year? And…”
“You two want want to go somewhere? I guess we could. I don’t know anyplace we’d go,” their mother shrugged.
“And what about…”
“What about Dad?” Dipper interrupted his sister.
Their mother stiffened,“He could come, I guess. But he’d probably have to get his own place to stay.”
The twins glanced at each other in surprise. This was going better than expected.
“So where would we go?” Dipper asked.
“You know what,” their mother smiled, “Why don’t you choose this time?”
“Hawaii!” Mabel shouted immediately.
“No, Mabel, isn’t it obvious?” Dipper grinned and adjusted his hat. “We should go back to Gravity Falls!”
