Work Text:
The dead man dances overhead
The enemy thought they shot him dead
Killing the shepherd scatters the flock
For they killed the lock
Many see and many don't
Celebrate a father's death?
I won't.
Celebrate a mother being forced to tell her sons:
"Daddy isn't coming home."
I won't.
The dead man dances overhead
Waiting for what is said
A wife mourns
Children wait
The man they love waits for them
Monsters may celebrate his death
But the dead man dances until then
Awaiting the earth's final breath
