From Officer Ethan Smitty
Faraway Police Department
To Dr Jackson Heartwell
We got the approval from Sunnys and Basil's guardians, so here are the 911 records you requested. Really rough stuff. I remember when that poor kid lost his sister back in 02. Glad to hear he is getting better, and tell his mom I said hi. I haven't seen Miranda in years.

Call transcript
[01:27] DISPATCH: 9-1-1, what’s your emergency?
[01:27] CALLER: You need to help. Please, my friends had a fight, Basil why? Oh god, just please send help, there's blood everywhere, and Sunny may have lost his eye. Just send help, please i just cant lose someone again. Send someone, please!
[01:27] DISPATCH: I’m sending help now. What’s the exact address?
[01:28] CALLER: Umm, it's (Caller yells to another person to ask what the address is) 102 Copper Lane
[01:28] DISPATCH: Thank you. Tell me your name.
[01:28] HENRY: Henry
[01:28] DISPATCH: Hello Henry, I’m Cathy. I want you to know I’ve got help on the way. Stay with me. Tell me what happened.
[01:28] HENRY: Everything was fine, we were all asleep, and I guess Sunny woke up and went into Basil's room. For some reason, they fought, it got bad—Basil, why, why did he try to do that, umm, Basil's stomach is cut really badly, and Sunny's eye is looking rough.
[01:28] DISPATCH: That sounds bad, but we need to know if they are awake and aware?
[01:28] HENRY: Basil is awake, but he is entirely out of it.
[01:28] DISPATCH: Anyone else in danger? Any weapons still out?
[01:28] HENRY: he used The shears, but I moved them away from Basil
[01:28] DISPATCH: Good job moving them. Now I need you to keep everyone calm and away from them or anything else that can cause harm. Now, are you inside or outside?
[01:28] HENRY: I'm inside the House, right now I'm in front of the doorway of the room.
[01:28] DISPATCH: ok, Henry, listen carefully. For your friend with the stomach wound, you need to apply some firm, steady pressure with a clean towel. Please don't worry if it soaks through, just add another on top but do not remove the first!
[01:28] HENRY: Okay, got it, (talking to person in background) Kel, don’t lift it, just add another
[01:29] DISPATCH: The friend with the stomach wound? I heard his name is Basil. Am I correct? Please put me through to him.
[01:29] HENRY: Yeah, sure, and yes, it's basil.
CALLER presumably hands the phone to Basil
[01:29] DISPATCH: Basil, I want you to know, Help is coming. You’re not alone. Keep breathing with your friends and listen to what they have to say; let them help you, please.
[01:29] (BACKGROUND: BASIL: “I'm sorry, I just wanted to help Sunny, it's my fault,”)
[01:29] HENRY: He keeps apologizing about something—he’s terrified, I don't know what is happening.
[01:29] DISPATCH: i know this must be very difficult for you but you're doing great supporting him. Now your other friend with the eye injury—what’s his name?
[01:29] HENRY: Sunny.
[01:29] DISPATCH: with Sunny, don't move his head and don’t apply any pressure on the eye. If you have some paper towels or something similar, place it lightly over the eye like a shield—no pressure. We need to keep that eye in as good shape as possible to have a chance to save it, ok? As for the other wounds, apply pressure and try to slow bleeding until EMS arrives.
[01:29] HENRY: I—I have some towels. I’m putting it over Sunny's eye now.
[01:29] DISPATCH: Good. Is anyone having trouble breathing? Is basil complaining of Any chest pain or loss of consciousness?
[01:29] HENRY: Basil hasn't told me about any chest pain, and Sunny is not even awake, so I don't know, but both are breathing. Sunny's pulse seems a bit off, but okay. Basil is breathing very fast, though
[01:29] DISPATCH: He is likely hyperventilating. Keep talking to him and keep him calm and awake. Are the doors unlocked for EMS?
[01:29] HENRY: Front door is unlocked. You want me to send my brother to make sure they find the right place?
[01:29] DISPATCH: No, keep him with Basil and have him work to slow the bleeding and make sure he remains as calm as possible.
[01:29] HENRY: Yes. (exhales) Okay.
[01:29] DISPATCH: How old are they?
[01:29] HENRY: Basil is 17, I think, Sunny's 16
[01:30] DISPATCH: Any drugs or alcohol tonight?
[01:30] HENRY: No, we aren't like that.
[01:30] DISPATCH: Are there adults or guardians we can contact?
[01:30] HENRY: Sunny's mom is off in Chicago getting a move set up, and Basil has a caretaker named Polly. Just—please get here soon, I can't lose someone else, and they are in terrible shape right now.
[01:30] DISPATCH: I understand. You’re doing everything right. Henry, tell me how Basil looks right now—skin color, how he’s talking.
[01:30] HENRY: He’s paler than usual. He is quiet now. Just very panicked and afraid
[01:30] DISPATCH: That can be common considering his stress levels and blood loss, don't worry. Just keep applying pressure. Is the towel soaking through?
[01:30] HENRY: The first towel is, hey, Kel put another on top.
[01:30] DISPATCH: Keep layering it up, ok? Don't peek under. We need as much pressure as possible to slow the bleeding.
[01:30] HENRY: Hey, he keeps staring at the floor. He won’t look up.
[01:30] (BACKGROUND: BASIL: “i don’t want to be here, I messed up, just please let me go”)
[01:30] HENRY: Basil, hey, listen—just breathe, everything is going to be ok.
[01:30] DISPATCH: Basil, you’re safe right now. People who care about you are with you, and right now, help is just minutes away. I got an ambulance on route
[01:31] (BACKGROUND: KEL: “Squeeze my hand and Stay with me, please your gonna be ok”)
[01:31] DISPATCH: Is Basil showing any signs of dizziness or fainting?
[01:31] HENRY: Basil seems out of it, but his eyes are open and he is responding to me and kel somewhat
[01:31] DISPATCH: If he gets sleepy, keep him talking. If he faints, tell me immediately.
[01:31] HENRY: Okay.
[01:31] DISPATCH: Do not give them food or drink, even water, okay?
[01:31] HENRY: Okay, I got it.
[01:31] (The caller sounds as if he has lost his composure light sobbing can be heard)
[01:31] DISPATCH: Henry, you’re doing an incredible job. I need you to stay on the line for me. What you do here can play a huge factor in your friend's recovery.
[01:31] HENRY: (quiet)
[01:31] DISPATCH: I’m here with you. Tell me about the room, are there lights on? Are there any tripping hazards so I can notify the EMTs?
[01:31] HENRY: Um, the Lights are on, some bloody towels are on the floor. Um, one second (caller yells towards someone else in the house) Hey, Aubrey! You got the bandages and my medkit? Tend to Sunny and fetch my medkit while I clear the way for EMS
[01:31] DISPATCH: You are doing great. Every last drop of blood saved helps your friends. For now, though, keep Basil seated or lying back with knees slightly bent if comfortable—whatever feels best while maintaining pressure.
[01:31] HENRY: Basil, I'm gonna move you a bit, is that ok?
[01:31] (BACKGROUND: KEL: “Yeah—he seems to be breathing better.”)
[01:31] DISPATCH: Any vomiting or complaints of increased pain?
[01:31] HENRY: No vomiting. But Pain, yes,
[01:31] DISPATCH: Remind him he’s safe and help is coming. Try your best to keep him calm.
[01:32] (BACKGROUND: BASIL: “Sunny I'm so sorry Mari im sorry”
[01:32] DISPATCH: Henry, I’ve got an EMS unit very close. You may hear sirens. If you can, unlock the front door, and when they arrive, follow all their instructions, but don’t leave Basil and Sunny alone.
[01:32] HENRY: The Door’s unlocked for them
[01:32] DISPATCH: Perfect. I’m updating EMS about the situation
[01:32] HENRY: Thank you.
[01:32] (FOOTSTEPS IN HALL, DOOR KNOCKS HEARD)
[01:32] HENRY: Someone’s at the door—
[01:32] DISPATCH: That should be EMS Henry
[01:32] (BACKGROUND: MUFFLED VOICE: “EMS!”)
[01:33] DISPATCH: Open the door for them. Keep the phone on if you can.
[01:33] (DOOR OPENS; RADIO CHATTER; FOOTSTEPS )
[01:33] RESPONDER (BACKGROUND): Henry, are you ok? What happened? Why are you here? Did something happen to your friends?
[01:33] HENRY (TO RESPONDERS): They are in the room to the left, Mr. Reyes. Please help them, it's bad in there, but I did what I could to help.
