Work Text:
Nadia straightened herself to attempt to hide the limp she’d incurred. Look, after having a bullet bounce off of you you’d assume a knife wouldn’t cut that deep as well. So, she held herself like the Black Knight and walked towards her friends.
“Joy, are you okay?” Nadia bent down and brushed loose strands of hair out of her face.
There was a small cut above Joy’s eyebrow, but all around she seemed alright. Joy groaned, “Yeah, yeah, I- I think I’m fine” Silence hurried over to Joy’s side and both her and reluctantly, Nadia let her help Joy to her feet. Silence checked Joy over once more, making sure that Nadia didn’t forget anything.
Wanting to make sure everyone else was also okay, Nadia walked over and called out for all her other friends. Most of them were relatively unharmed, minor scraps and bruises. That’s when 50/50 spoke up, “Hey Nadia…are you alright?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
He gave her a pointed look and motioned at her wound which had worsened with all the movement.
“Oh shit” Nadia whispered.
“Tori, is everything okay?” Salum questioned as she moved closer to Nadia.
“Y- yeah. It’s just a scratch. I promise, I’m fine. I can take it”
Joy narrowed her eyes at that statement, “But do you have to?”
“What?”
“Do you have to take it?” Joy moved away from Silence, able to support herself, “You keep getting injured thinking we need protection, but we don’t need all that protection”
Nadia started to respond, but Salum held up a hand, silencing her, “I think she’s write Nadia. You keep throwing yourself into danger and we don’t know if it’s going to be the last tine”
“I- I’m not dying Bone Daddy” she rolled her eyes, trying to prove her point, but nausea overcame her. She had to take several deep breaths before responding, "Remember, I’m bullet proof and truck proof. I can handle this”
That’s when Ben piped up, “You survived the bullet and truck, but weren’t you really hurt after that?”
Nadia stammered, trying to argue, “I- b-but yeah, but I get stronger that way. I- It’s truly not that bad”
“Then if it’s not that bad” Salum moved and took Nadia’s arm over her shoulder, supporting her so she didn’t have to put pressure on her cut up leg, “You’d be fine with us taking care of you anyway?”
Nadia defeatedly, let Salum help her all the way back to their bus.
