Chapter Text
Peter couldn't believe he hadn't done this sooner. For the past few months, he'd been feeling cramped and stuck in one place. Which, to be fair, was the truth. His overpriced, cramped New York apartment had limited his options in movement, and his instincts were being very annoying due to that. Then he was approached by Tony himself with an offer he couldn't possibly refuse. He was invited to join the Avengers, which wasn't the greatest as he felt like he worked better alone. The good thing about this was the fact that he'd be able to move into the Avengers Tower, with its lofted ceilings and many, many hidey holes.
He packed up his stuff and shipped it all off to the tower, and ended his lease with his annoying landlord who couldn't even fix the leaky faucet, but still demanded nearly 20% more than all the other landlords. On his way in, he found the training area, where Clint and Natasha were engaged in hand-to-hand combat. For an archer, Peter observed, Clint definitely had the skills of a knowledgeable martial artist. When Clint spotted him watching, he grinned and got distracted, leading to Natasha taking him down.
"Hey Spidey! Finally decided to accept Stark's proposal, did you?" Clint grinned from his spot on the training mat. Natasha glanced up at Peter, nodding respectfully.
"Yea, just couldn't resist the offer," Peter replied with a huff, "of course it would be better if I didn't have to deal with you. But we can't have everything I suppose."
Natasha hummed as she freed Clint from her grip, and walked over to her water bottle to get a drink. "Thought you don't like working with teams?"
Peter shrugged as he adjusted the backpack on his shoulders.
"I'll figure it out. Anything's better than a New York apartment. I'm gonna go get settled in, see you later. And Clint? Get good." He walked off before Clint could reply, and ignored the sputters of indignation that followed him. He got onto the elevator and hesitated when he noticed the lack of buttons.
"Um… I wasn't quizzed on how to operate this thing, was I?" he paused when he remembered the AI that was integrated throughout the entire tower, "Um, FRIDAY?"
There was a chime as a small light lit up on the panel by the door. FRIDAY's voice came through the speakers, pleasant as always.
"Ah, hello Spider-Man. I assume you are attempting to get to your floor?"
Peter blinked, and thought he hadn't heard correctly as he asked, "I'm sorry, you said 'floor'? I thought I'd just get a room?"
FRIDAY's voice remained pleasant as she responded, "That's correct. Boss has created a floor for each Avenger, giving everyone ample space to do as they please with it."
Peter ignored the way his heart soared at the thought of so much space, and nodded in understanding.
"So… How do I get to my floor? There's no buttons…"
He was interrupted by the elevator moving upwards, and he stumbled, not expecting it.
"T-thank you FRIDAY!"
He took a deep breath, bracing himself for the adventure ahead of him as it went up, ignoring his singing instincts.
