Don't get shanked in prison. As if Moriarty needed that lesson to be taught him. It can't always be helped. That's what he told his lawyer - 'It can't always be helped, Mr Kennedy.' But he wasn't talking about being shanked.
Little did he know that there are many forms of shanking in prison, and in defending himself from one, he was afflicted by another, taking a sharpened toothbrush to somewhere soft and vital, multiple times. So now he's in hospital, in the ICU. Not such a bad gig, if you can get it. You're slightly less likely to be raped in hospital.
There's a tube in his throat, obstructing his airway. Barely conscious, he feels like he's choking, like he needs to spit it out, but every time he weakly makes the attempt, some bastard comes along and holds him down, while another shoves that thing further down his throat.
Nevermind, hospital is no different to prison.
