Chapter Text
You groaned as you sat up on the couch. It had been about a year since your adoptive mom, Marilyn Thornhill, died under unknown circumstances. She had always been very secretive about her work life and often came home late. But that never really bothered you—she gave you love in abundance. She gave you everything you ever needed. And now, she was gone.
You lived just outside of Jericho, in the opposite direction of the Outcast school. You didn’t have a solid opinion of them. Your mother always had a certain look whenever they were brought up—distant and a little scary. To you, they were just there, like everybody else. Before Tyler disappeared, he had always advocated for them. It was thanks to him that you met Marilyn in the first place.
You sighed. There was no point in dwelling on things that happened a while ago. Standing up, you made your way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. It had been a while since you’d been to the Weathervane. It felt strange without both of them.
Grabbing your dark coat and satchel, you slipped on your shoes and set off. The paths to Jericho had always been strange. The closer you got to town, the gloomier things seemed. Trees and plants dulled in color, clouds blocked out most of the sunlight, and everything grew quieter.
You didn’t really mind—it was how you found inspiration for your stories. You were a writer, after all, inspired by everything: horror, romance, thriller—anything that caught your imagination.
The books you wrote were all published under a different name, of course. You weren’t one for fame—far from it, actually. You hated it with a passion. You never saw the point in being idolized or placed on a pedestal by people.
You sighed again. It didn’t matter.
Glancing around, you noticed droplets of rain beginning to fall—just a light drizzle, not enough to warrant opening your umbrella. It was beautiful, and oddly comforting.
《I’m tired.》
Your eyes drooped as your steps slowed. Spotting a bench, you sat down, feeling the air around you shift. Closing your eyes, a small, almost playful smile graced your lips. The bench creaked as you turned to your right.
“Hello, Agnes. Dreary day we’re having, huh?”
Your smile widened when she made herself visible, eyes wide in surprise.
“How do you always know I’m near? You’re the only one who’s ever noticed.”
She always asked you that question, and you always gave her the same answer.
“Of course I’d notice when my friend’s near me.”
She never believed it. After all, who could notice someone who was always invisible?
You sighed softly, still smiling.
“So, I’ve heard you’re finally starting out at Nevermore—past the forest, right?”
“I am, yes! I’m so excited to see Wednesday Addams in person! I wonder what kind of person she really is.” She giggled.
You hummed thoughtfully. You kept hearing that name—it was certainly an interesting one. You remembered your mom talking about her with... something in her tone. You figured they had bad blood between them. You didn’t, so there was no point in keeping it alive.
A droplet fell onto your face, making you flinch.
“We’d best get going. The rain’s probably about to pour. Would you like me to walk you to the square? I was on my way to the Weathervane.”
You stood and opened your umbrella, holding it above both of you.
“Mhm, you’re right. The bus is going to arrive soon. I wonder if I’ll get to see her there?” she said, looking up with a thoughtful expression.
You hummed. It seems like that's all you ever do, doesnt it?
Adjusting the umbrella to keep Agnes from the rain made you sacrifice your shoulder to the weather. You were going to regret that later, but what's a little gesture for friends? You glanced up to see that the Nevermore students were still there—No bus in sight.《Hm, must be late.》
The drizzle stopped. Right on time as the bus came into view. "This is where we part ways, I guess. Goodluck at Nevermore, Agnes." You smiled and stuck your hand out towards her.
"Don't forget about me, alright? Im just one ride away after all." "You're a very hard person to forget." With the firm shake of hands, you were off.
Well- you would be if you didnt run into someone. The wet ground caused you to slip and fall—back first onto the pavement. You clutched your head as you pushed yourself upright, you glanced at the person and paused.
She stood tall before you, not a hair out of place—like you had just hit a wall instead of a living breathing person. She was intimidating that's for sure, but she was gorgeous. Two identical braids rest on each of her shoulders, her cold dark eyes sizing you up, most likely wondering why you were still down.
You clutched your umbrella and satchel as you rushed to stand up and apologize. "Please forgive me for the trouble I've caused, I'm not my best self today." You offered a nervous smile and a small bow.
That was when you noticed her attire. It was an altered version of the usual Outcast uniform. It was monochrome in color, the blazer was cut shorter—stopping at the waist instead of just a bit below the hips. You also noticed that she was shorter than you by a huge margin.
"Clearly. You have the spacial awareness of toddler. Dont let this happen again." She said, a sharp glared pointed towards you. She walked off.
That didnt bother you one bit, being used to rude people had it's perks. You opened your umbrella and continued off to the Weathervane. 《That was an encounter for sure.》
You didnt know that it was one Wednesday Addams you crashed into. And you certainly didn't know that this was the start of something new that'll plague and destroy your carefully mapped out structure.
Chapter Text
You sipped your coffee—three tablespoons of creamer and two tablespoons of sugar like any normal person.
You stared at your laptop. Something about your draft didn't feel right. Actually, everything didnt feel right from the moment you walked in to the moment you sat down. This was the 4th time in 2 weeks.
You hummed with a smile.
This wasnt Agnes, that much you knew. You haven't caught a glimpse of them yet, you dont know if you ever will. Being watched was never something you dealt with.
It scared you. It excited you.
Its been a while since something crazed has happened, very interesting considering what you were. Famed author and all, nothing stops a strange fan—if that's what's actually following you.
You closed your laptop, no point in continuing right now. Your eyes half lidded as you finish your coffee. It was behind you, why? To sneak a peak at your new work? To just watch you? You packed your stuff but didnt move to stand.
You decide to leave through the back. You slipped the cashier a note. 'May I leave through the back?' And subtly glanced behind you, the cashier realizing the situation, guided you past the counter.
"Of course! The bathroom is right this way!" You sent them a grateful smile.
As soon as you turned the corner, you dashed towards the exit. Just because it felt exhilarating doesn't mean you wanted it to continue. You pushed the door and ran towards the Square, not wanting to expose your home. Behind you, you hear pitter-patters of something small.
You didnt like doing this, but it'll have to do for now. You ran towards and alley and dropped to your knees, reaching for the Sun. Begging for it to take your light and hide you from your persuer. It was just something you could do, I suppose.
Snapping back to look behind you as something turns come from the corner. It was... a hand? Definitely not the weirdest thing you've seen. Before you could examine it, a blinding light enveloped and then you were gone.
So you're definitely not just a normal person.
