Chapter Text
When Emmet opened his eyes, he expected to be waking up to a new day at home, perhaps with one or all of his pokemon slumbering around him in bed. What he didn’t expect was to find himself in a dark void with no end in sight. There was no ground, no ceiling, he’s not even sure which way he’s facing. The only thing in this void with him was a bright light and to his surprise, it didn’t hurt his eyes as he was staring at it.
“Welcome to my realm, located beyond both time and space.” A voice spoke from all directions, reverberating in Emmet’s head. The voice felt incomprehensible and yet understandable, like a train going down a familiar track but the destination’s nowhere on the schedule. “It is well that thou art here.”
“Hi.” Was what the subway boss started with, familiar words tumbling out from his mouth before he could stop himself, “I am Emmet. I am a Subway Boss. I like Double Battles. I like combinations of two Pokémon.”
The voice let out a hum and if it had a body of sorts, Emmet was sure that he would see them nod. “Emmet… Thou is the brother of Ingo, correct?”
“Is Ingo here?!” Emmet immediately shouted, hope sparking up in his heart despite the strange situation he’s in. His brother had been missing for 2 years, 3 months, 16 days, 3 hours, 12 minutes and 28 seconds and counting and ever since then, he threw himself into operating the battle subway by himself, searching for his twin whenever he had the chance. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, yet Emmet still refused to believe that Ingo is dead. He had to be out there somewhere!
“No, but thou shalt see him in time.” The voice said, there was a faint warmth in their tone before it shifted to a firm one. “Emmet… Is thou willing to risk everything to arrive at a station unknown to thee to seek thine brother?”
Emmet looks at the light, momentarily stunned before he smiled. He didn’t have to think it over as he nods, “I will do anything to find Ingo and bring him home.”
“Even if it means thou risking thine life?” The voice asks which only further solidifies the Subway Boss’s resolve. “I won’t switch my tracks, I will bring my brother back.”
Nothing more needed to be said, the both of them knew it. The light glows brighter as the voice says, “Thou resolve is proven worthy… Soon, thou shalt find thyself in a world strange to thee… A world inhabited by wondrous creatures that you humans call ‘Pokemon.’ Seek out all pokemon, and thou shalt find me once more.”
Questions flood Emmet’s head, there was still so much more he wished to ask about Ingo, where he was and what his destination is but as his grip on the threads of lucidity loosened, the subway boss found himself drifting off into slumber. The last thing he could register was the voice speaking to him once more, a clean cut of clarity amidst the fog of drowsiness overtaking him.
“Thy brother hast changed in thine world, and such varies would prove challenging. However, I believe thou can bring thy brother back to the path he once derailed from.”
Thus, the human disappears and the light shifts to take form. Its gaze lingers on where the human once was before re-entering the stream where time beats and space flows.
“Bii?” A shrill voice echos out into the dark as a flash of green emerges from the stars, flying up towards them. They lowered Their head down in respect to the time travel pokemon, “I thank thou Celebi, thou hast done well to send the chosen to his destination.”
“Cele! Breei!” Celebi chitters, its wings fluttering from the praise. The light warps and bends around Them, re-shaping to take a more physical and familiar form. A determined gaze meets Celebi’s and the realm echos from Their voice, “Come now, there is much to be done. We shalt entrust the rest to the chosen to correct what hast been torn.”
