Chapter Text
D3rlord3 was going to strangle this idiot.
How simple is it to follow an order? Don’t turn left. So fucking easy, just go literally any other direction.
He knew this was a possibility. He’d done all he could without leaving the gates. Now he stood outside the chambers and watched the same mistake he’d seen in his mind over and over.
Avery stood at the entrance to the first tunnel, unmoving. D3rlord3 didn’t dare hope that he was going to turn around and get the hell out of dodge.
Unfortunately, after another long moment of staring into the dark brick tunnel, Avery clenched his fists and stepped in.
Fucking idiot. His hand squeezed the hilt of his sword. One order. One king-damned order, and—
His thoughts froze in ice. With a sharp snap, his mind went to static.
His Voice Sang Truth And Beauty To The Stars Within The Servant.
It was perfect and terrifying and beautiful and awful and life and death and he understood it all. Of course it would end up fine. Of course there was no other way. Of course the gracious king knew all.
The fuzz began to fade with the final decision made. D3rlord3 knew he would get used to it. He knew exactly how long it would take to get used to it. He still wished it wasn't so jarring now. A simple discussion like that could leave him exhausted for hours afterward.
When he finally wrangled it all back in, D3rlord3 found himself kneeling at the junction, right at the start of the crossroads, staring into the tunnel.
Shit. There wasn’t much time. The dumbass’s curiosity would win out. The influence would take over, directing him exactly where It needed him to go. D3rlord3 was running out of time.
He hauled to his feet, armor clattering as he moved. This would not be his end.
Avery would not suffer this, too.
