40 demigods- a dandy’s world and pjo fanfic

Summary:

“Ichor. A mysterious substance. Also known as the blood of the gods. The thing about ichor, is that it brings things to life. Creates beings out of objects. It also rots, but we’ll get to that later.”

It all started with the night goddess, a stupid internship, green fire, a competition and a strange blonde girl, passed out on the steps of the Hera cabin.
Also, Rachel’s had the next big prophecy. Fun!

(Takes place after tsats. Haven’t read the court of the dead. Also if I get things wrong it’s bc I’m still reading the series. Also this is an Au so I dont really care.)

Notes:

Heyyyy hello hi
Heads up:
-this is an au
-I will get things wrong, haven’t finished reading HoO yet T-T
-I am sleep deprived and delusional
-this contains a lot of headcanons, tho some based off actual facts- (eg. Delilah is a demigod since ichor is deadly to humans)
-character angst
-if there is anything SERIOUS I will put Tw at the start of the chapter
Anyway have fun

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: here we go again

Chapter Text

"What." Annabeth was stunned. Truly stunned.

"I'm really hoping this prophecy doesn't come too quickly, but I know it's begun." Rachel replied, shutting the notebook.

"Are we going to ignore the fact," Percy began. "That the prophecy just predicted an intake of FORTY demigods at once."

Personally, Annabeth found the bit that mentioned the girl with forty last names to be strange, and less the forty demigods bit.

Some of the gods- frankly- were sluts. The rest of them fell in love easy and wouldn't mind wasting ichor and blood. That is something Annabeth kept to herself. Athena and Hestia's way of having children was significantly more civil than most, Athena kids being born from thoughts and Hestia kids being born from flames. They were much rarer, but relatively powerful considering Hestia was the first child of Kronos and Rhea and one of the firs gods (after the titans) except Aphrodite, Iris, Arke and some others. Usually they didn't have fathers either.

"This might just be the most cryptic prophecy yet." Percy rolled his eyes. "Well done oracle of Delphi, you've made Rachel spew stuff no one understands of another level."

"Friendly reminder that I technically AM the oracle and therefore I am allowed to take offense to that." Rachel snapped.

"No, you get hijacked by the oracle every other week . You are Rachel." Percy replied. "No you cannot take offense to that."

"GUYS. Focus." Annabeth said. Usually, there was no requirement to interpret prophecies, but there was something weird about this one. Nico and Will, who had been there the first time the prophecy was spoken, had found it weirder than usual. Rachel said so too. Annabeth also thought it was weird. Percy probably did too.

The prophecy was long, littered with things straight up and ridiculously figurative, no in between, it zero sense. Like, none at all.

It was this:

"The eye of the broken, which a fiery demand,

Forty strange demigods , one shall foil the plan,

The chain reaction which consequences were heavy

The ability of the girl, last names of forty.

The paradox-pain of the flower of the dark,

With the possession of the goddess some may call ark

The green the never shall burn or wither

Golden ichor seems nothing more than a feather.

The son of the Sun, the daughter of the brain

Shall endure and learn both secrets and pain

But if all shall go exactly to plan,

You will fall by 3s of a clan."

Annabeth thought that was the end of it. An eight line prophecy was ridiculous on its own, but apparently, either Rachel wasn't finished, or this was a separate one. According to Will, she'd had the prophecy, collapsed, woke up, hade another prophecy (or continued it) and collapsed again. She had also looked will dead in the eye while saying the second one.

The seconded one went like this.

"If You shall find a body in the night,

Avoid her and fall, son of light.

Daughter of Hera, strange existence,

Death of an immortal you may witness.

Beware of ares curse,

Or the ichor disease will take a turn for the worse."

Poor Rachel fell into what Annabeth thought was like a coma. She was asleep for an entire day. Annabeth was highly suspicious of this prophecy.
Surely things couldn't get worse.
Then, Nico stumbled in the room. The stressed look on his face told her that yes, things CAN get worse, in fact, they HAVE to gotten worse.
"The prophecy has started, hasn't it..." he said miserably. "When can we ever catch a break??"
"What?" Percy said, confusion settling in.
"Hm?" Annabeth
"Will found a girl lying outside the Hera cabin." He replied, sighing. "She's awake now, but she won't tell us anything.

Chapter 2: The daughter of Hera

Summary:

Meet the girl on the steps of the Hera cabin. Turns out she might play a role in this prophecy way more than anyone thought.
She knows something that no one else does. And she won’t say a word.
For now,
All we know are her name and mother.
And that she is definitely part of the prophecy.

Chapter Text

The girl looked about 13.

She had fluffy mid length golden hair tied back in a messy bun with a brown ribbon. She was wearing an overall dress thing, with a tan shirt under. A gold necklace hung around her neck, a slim chain with an ammonite shell fossil on it. She had gloves for excavating and archeology. Her cheeks were permanently rosy or something, and her skin was olive. She looked tired, dark circles under her hazel colored eyes.

She had a worried and somewhat scared expression on her face.
To be fair, Annabeth, Rachel, Percy, Will, Nico , Chiron and even Mr D were all crowded around her in the infirmary.

"What's your name?" Nico asked.
"I'm not telling." Her voice was high pitched and honey-like. There was also some kind of European accent(maybe Scottish or Irish) mixed in her voice, very Faint but there.
"We can't help you if you keep saying that." Chiron replied.
"Can I just leave?"
"Hm, no." Rachel answered.
She sighed.
"My name is Shelly. Shelly Fossilian."
Finally, Annabeth thought, at least they knew her name now. Annabeth thought she would be a demigod at least. How she got there? No idea.

"Where did you come from..?" Will seemed nervous. Annabeth couldn't remember if he had been the main subject of any prophecy before, but she didn't think so. He had gone to Tartarus with Nico earlier in the year, but he wasn't the subject of that prophecy. That was Nico. Now Will had a totally uncalled-for random ass prophecy. Annabeth couldn't blame him.

"I..." all the color drained from Shelly's face. "Very... very long story..."
"We should have time." Rachel replied. She was definitely not having an awesome week. Firstly, her parents were fighting and they kept trying to involve her. Second, the prophecies. Now, it was coming true. That's why she was slightly bitter.
"No, it's just... I don't know all the details. I do know one thing." She told Rachel, twiddling her thumbs nervously.
"What do you know?" Nico asked.
"Well... there's many details but.. Hera is my mother. Don’t ask me HOW I know that, I don’t know either."

"Hold on." Percy said. "There's a lot to unpack there. Hera... isn't supposed to have demigod children?"

"That's where it's confusing." Shelly replied, frowning. "I'm sort of a demigod, sort of not? I was created, not born."

"Like me?" Annabeth spoke up. "Me and my siblings were created from Athena's thoughts, did something like that happen?”
The blonde girl paused, and then slowly nodded her head, like she wasn’t sure herself.
“Let’s go with that… Can I go now?”
“no. Not unless you wish to get mauled by a monster.” Chiron said.
Shelly frowned. “I’ve made it this far, but I suppose I can stay, I’d need to find the others though. I’m sure they’re nearby, maybe in the woods over there.”
“The OTHERS?” Percy stressed. “Please PLEASE say there aren’t 39 others…”
“Oh no, only 6. There used to be 39 though.. I could be wrong, I suck at math.” Shelly replied sweetly.
“We’ll lead us the way,” Mr D finally spoke . “ Let’s NOT waste time, I have better things to do.”
“Like play pinocle?” Chiron mused.
“Precisely.”
“Fast as a velociraptor or a gallimimus,” Shelly said to herself, smiling faintly. “Got it.”

Chapter 3: The other 6

Summary:

Shelly leads the group to ‘the other six,’ camping just outside the camps boarder.
There are more weird demigods.
Joy.

Chapter Text

And so Shelly lead them into the northern forest.

This was the place they had played war games and capture the flag many a times before. Now it was supposedly a hideout.

They were just outside the camp boarders when someone came crashing through the bushes and leaves.

“Poppy! Hi!” Shelly said to the girl. She was short and seemed like 12, wearing a pink and yellow dress. Her hair was massive and bright blue, in a bun atop her head, with a pink bow to top it off. She had a black canvas bag slung on her shoulder.

Mr D pointed at her lazily and said, “mine. That’s my kid. I don’t remember having you though. I don’t get a whole lot of days off. Weird.”

“Who are yall?” She looked around at the odd group. “Are we getting arrested?”

“No… I don’t think any of these guys have the strength to handcuff Cosmo now… let alone seen a pair of handcuffs…”

“Umh, RUDE!” Percy scoffed, very percyily. “ I’ll have you know I am A WAR CRIMINAL and have ran from the cops multiple times!”

“That’s-that’s not something to brag about.” Annabeth facepalmed.

“Well I guess I’ll take y'all to the others!” Poppy said, walking in the opposite direction. “Just a heads up, Cosmo is losing his mind since you were missing and you’re the closest thing to Sprout he has.”

After a short walk through the bushes, Annabeth caught a whiff of smoke. Around the corner was a makeshift camp, with a green Greek fire campfire burning at the Centre. A kid, probably 13, was sitting at it, poking at the flames with a stick. Annabeth noticed burn marks on a nearby tree.

The guy’s eyes lit up when he sure Shelly and poppy, as well as the others.

“SHELLYWHERETHEHELLWEREYOUWECANTAFFORDTOLOOSEANYONEELSE- oh who are they?”

“Demigods.” Shelly replied blatantly. “Real ones. And a god and a centaur, of course.”

“Excuse me I am not a demigod,” Rachel piped up sarcastically. “If I were I’d have gotten myself killed by now.”

“Oh and the oracle girl.” Shelly corrected. Rachel didn’t look too pleased at that nickname either.

The boy had dark olive skin and rich chocolate brown hair, that was incredibly over grown and messy, white streaks running through it. He wore a white hoodie, with black shorts and long socks, colored pink green and blue. Under his hoodie he seemed to have matching fingerless gloves. He had heterochromia, one eye electric blue the other bottle green. He had bags under his eyes, and a strangely shaped freckle on his left cheek the shape of a star. He looked unhappy now.

“Oh joy.” He replied sarcastically.

Another girl popped around the corner.

“Has anyone seen my-“

She saw the group and paused.

“Aren’t you that one guy from that true crime podcast?” She said, pointing at Percy. “Yknow, you like killed your kidnapper with a gun when you were 12?”

“Yes.”

“Ook then…” this girl had long, pale blue hair with a few black streaks. She was wearing a white cap and a white shirt, with a red tie and baggy black shorts along with converse. Somehow, defying all laws of biology, she was paler than Nico, almost like a ghost. Another similarity between her and Nico? They both had brown eyes so dark they were almost black.

“Ugh, can we take this to the big house PUHLEASE.” We have snacks and Diet Coke.”

“DIET COKE!!!!!!!!!!” Poppy cajoled. “I AGREE WITH MY SUPPOSED FATHER! To the ‘big house’!”

Chapter 4: Important

Summary:

A flash of darkness, the ophiotairus, blue eyes and the word important.
Not exactly the closest things, unless you’ve read this chapter.

Chapter Text

Before they set off, there was a flash of darkness.
Nico was stunned.
Someone had just shadow traveled. And it definitely wasn't him.
Standing before them was the girl who had supposedly shadow travelled. She looked like a fairy princess, with a lilac medieval style flowy dress. She was Filipino, with a long loose braid- a hairstyle that reminded Nico of his sister, Bianca- only there were a few flowers weaved into her hair. Her eyes were sage green, with a tired and sad look in them, and freckles dotted her face.
Nico instantly knew who her godly parent was.
"I'm coming with." She spoke cautiously, but firmly.
"Ok then, weird flower girl comes too." Mr d said.
"Bassie."
"Bessie????" Percy piped up.
"No. Bassie."
"I mean, you don't look like a sea cow..."
"Excuse me?"
Yeah, that was an interesting adhd conversation Percy started, explaining who Bessie was and the titan war.
"You sound like my best friend." The kid, the one poking at the fire earlier with heterochromia said.
"WhoS that?" Percy asked curiously.
The kid got this detached, cold look. His lip trembled a bit, like it was a sensitive subject. He didn't reply.

“So how many is that?” Rachel asked after a while. “New campers I mean.”

“Five.” Annabeth replied.

“Oh, you’ll meet looey and … erm, shrimpo soon enough. Looeys asleep and shrimpo’s off in a huff somewhere as per usual.” Connie answered.

At the big house, someone was trying to break in.

He was like, 11 or 12, 13 at the most, and the embodiment of anger. It didn’t help that he was tiny. He was attempting to kick down the door and failing.

Essentially he was a demigod chihuahua.

“I HATE THIS!!!!!” He squawked in a fit of rage .

“Ah.” Connie’s chill demeanor shifted to annoyance being masked by calmness. “Hello shrimpo.”

“I HATE YOU TOO.”

This guy was weird.

Another guy dashed around the corner and grabbed shrimpo off the porch.

He was wearing a yellow, purple and green polka dotted shirt with black cargo shorts. He had a bun, golden blonde with streaks of green and purple. He looked just younger than Nico, probably 14, but as tall as Will.

And oh, great, his eyes were blue.

Electric blue.

Now, if you can recall, who else’s eyes were electric blue?

That’s right!

The graces.

Thalia and Jason.

And who were they??

Children of Zeus. (Or Jupiter, in Jason’s case)

Nico decided to pretend he hadn’t noticed that.

When the group were in the big house, there was certainly conversation among the “where the hades did you come from”’s, and Nico understood a little more about the seven.

Shrimpo hated everyone, supposedly and was permanently angry. Connie was chill but snarky. Poppy was a child alcoholic, or at least addicted to coke. Shelly was kind but slightly nervous. Looey would’ve been a class clown. Cosmo had some kind of inner turmoil, much harder to understand. All Nico knew is that something had happened, probably to his best friend.

Bassie was worse.

She was nervous. Anxious.

All. The. Time.

But there was something scary about her- an unknown power She might not have even realized. Not the power she had- but her potential.

Nico knew she was going to be important at some point.

Important.

She seemed to love that word.

“So you’re the son of hades, huh?” She had asked Nico.

“Uh, yeah.”

“ you must be really important then, I guess.. I wish I was that important.”

She had had a similar conversation with Percy.

Combined with the witnesssed shadow travel and the flower power and overall vibe, Nico had a good guess about who her godly parent was. He wasn’t sure how he felt about that.

He did not wish to be turned into a corn plant again.
