Light the Path

Summary:

The Force naturally seeks Balance. Light and Dark cannot exist without the other, but leaning too heavily into one side can destroy the other, latching on like a leech. So much like an immune system, it needs to send white blood cells sometimes to fight infection.

So when the Force feels a heavy disturbance in a galaxy far, far away, it sends a response. Just not in the way anyone could have predicted.

I.E. Or: The Force sends one of the few Light-Side focused Sith in Galactic History to settle an extra-planar genocide in it's backyard. Violently.

Notes:

Hello! This is an experimental work that popped to mind, so might be updated intermittently. With season 2 of HH out, had a little idea to try out.

As a note, To Sit in Judgement is not abandoned. I have been stuck writing chapter for months, so am taking a light break to get the groove going again.

Regardless, please enjoy!

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Violence and Violent Death

Chapter 1: Prologue

Summary:

The prologue...

Chapter Text

There is a singular thing that it written into the most basic and simple understanding of the universe as we know it:

The Force.

This is a fundamental: a core and necessary aspect of the universe since the moment that it came into being. From the explosion of life and energy that sprang forth in that immediate beginning, it reached out its essence and guided out; to tether and guide and fill this new emptiness with its being.

Every available space, compiling on itself and every piece of reality within and outside of itself, stretched like an infinite web across the darkness of this new Void. No matter where it would or could go, as it now had the very choice to go where it wanted; all matter that would be, had been, and was going to be would be as much a part of it as it was a part of them.

The building blocks that would become the necessary components of biological life in the millennia upon millennia to come, gases and elements and minerals, were emboldened and filed, each strand of this new Force etched into its very being ineffably.

It would not matter how far this expanse, this universe would go or how it would end, if it even could. Across the plane this new reality was filling (would fill, had already filled), the energy of existence spread throughout and beyond, nebulas and galaxies forming in the wake of this cacophonous event swirling ever out and outward.

Distance, space, time; none of these things mattered in the specifics of any singular moment. The Force moved through all things always. Until the very end where the universe will fold in onto itself and long after it will be gone, the Force will exist.

Life, death; growth, decay; light, darkness. The Force encompasses the aspects of all of these things, no matter their state. In the motion of events and people, actions and consequences reflect in this cosmic motion of eternity, and return to it in time.

The problem is this: the Force seeks Balance. Always.

The complexity of the life that this Force provides and resides in is encompassed by both ends of the spectrum: Light and Dark. The nature of the Force within the wider band of existence has the natural affinity to spring back and forth between these spectrums, springing back into its original position.

Biological life however, lacks the natural wisdom that comes with knowing where that lies. Knowing that these two means to the same end are not opposing forces, but the key mirrors of each other, is a hard conclusion to meet for the illuminated beings of the universe.

This lack of knowledge leads to ignorance, which in turn leads to misunderstanding. From this to prejudice, hate, and other similar emotions, the cascading of events has brought about an all too familiar experience into the lives of the universe.

Conflict. Apathy. War.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away, this defined life for untold trillions.

Within these spinning galactic arms came the persistent battles of Light versus the Dark, and the ever fluxing rise and fall of Republics and Empires. The rise and fall of the Orders of the Jedi and Sith; the guiding of the open palm versus the leash of the iron fist. Forces of mortal good and evil spinning around and around in the death latch of diametrically opposed foes.

Where one force would claim victory, eliminating the other in outright obliteration, the Force would shift accordingly lest these worlds be drowned. Too much of any one aspect, no matter the intention, would only lead to failure.

With the destruction of the Sith Order after the Army of Light’s effort, one thousand years of peace underlined with decay, corruption, and stagnation led to the rise of the Line of Bane and the destruction of both the Republic and the Jedi. The focus of the Light Side was stretched too far before overshooting back into the Dark.

With the Rise of the Empire and the Line of Bane, the likes of Darth Sidious and his fallen Chosen One, their oppression and cruelty over this far forgotten galaxy sparked the fire of rebellion and hope for a better future. The hopeful fought in the face of sacrifice, the Empire crumbled, and the Jedi and Republic rose once more. That focus and deep dive into the depravity of the Dark by a single man (a thing, a cancer, a monster) released into the stars sent the Force hurtling back towards the natural center of creation. For a time.

It is a persistent back and forth, with no clear victor for either side when the truth should have been clear so long ago. Clinging so tightly onto one side or the other is not the answer; one must pull from both sides equally to fully understand one’s place in the universe. It was true then, and is still true now.

In the current day, within the boundaries of a planet within the system of a galaxy still teetering on the edges of infancy, such a conflict rages with the boundaries of the Force itself.

Where there should be a balance, there is untold chaos.

An Army of Light, lacking in compassion and empathy, twisted by dark desires and tendencies, launching into an afterlife and slaughtering all in their path with reckless glee.

The Force seeks Balance. Always.

At the end of a life, even in those strange afterlives such as this, any being of energy passing on may find their energy returned to the Force in time. Even if that consciousness should fade away, the Force flows and cycles.

This is not a return, a calm transfer of energy; it is a complete eradication of that life force into an empty Abyss. Complete and utter non-existence. Nothing.

The Force seeks Balance. Always.

It is an aberration. An abomination against life itself.

The Force seeks Balance. Always.

The Darkness is rising. Here, where Creation in the heart of this infant galaxy was shattered in error and stitched back together as best as it could be: cracks were left behind, and it is seeping through like a septic wound killing everything surrounding it.

The Force seeks Balance. Always.

A solution is needed.

The question is: how?

The illuminated beings meant to read these signs are too ignorant to see the signs, too mired by dogma to think of other solutions, or too set in their ways to try something better.

Perhaps…

There is a thought, for a moment faster than the blink of an eye, and more infinite than the expanding vastness of the Universe.

The query? Beings of the Light, corrupted by the Dark Side, unable to see the error of their ways.

The solution? A being of the Dark, rooted firmly in the Light, to rip out the corruption and bring things to right. A counterweight, so to speak.

In the never-ending depths of that infinite Force, drifting afloat in peace after a lift-time of duty and change, is gently cupped and revived. Life, for what it can be called, breathes back into them. The shape of a body is formed, then filled in as its location is set in stone.

Then, very much like a stone, is skipped across the boundaries of Creation like on the surface of a lake. It shoots out, building up speed at an exponential rate, before beaming through the Force and into the direction of the Milky Way Galaxy.

A one way ticket to Hell.

So is the Will of the Force.
