Work Text:
Galinda takes in the ambiance of Shiz, from the art-nouveau architecture of the building itself, spanning over decades and still withstanding the time, to the bricks and structure of the Shiz, the style providing a somewhat Victorian-like aesthetic. She's excited to start her new life here at Shiz and hopefully this will be an opportunity to start her major in sorcery, as it is her heart's desire and the main reason she enrolled at Shiz in the first place.
A girl in a wheelchair rolls over to her, beautiful brown skin and beautiful brown curls to go with it. She looks nervous, and a little hesitant, but then again most people are around her. She's simply too fabulocous for everyone's taste so it's to be understood. However, catching up with Phannee and Shenshen earlier proved to be quite the drab affair and she'll be happy to not do that at least for the remainder of the day and the girl seems to be less dreadful and boring so she introduces herself.
“Hi! I'm Nessarose Thropp. Wow… you're really pretty.” The girl, Nessa, compliments with a smile. Galinda is quite used to compliments so it doesn't really phase her, but she extends a hand out to Nessa, who takes it immediately.
“Thank you, I'm sure with my looks and your exquisite bone structure, we'll make the best team. I'm Galinda Upland.” Galinda replies, tilting her head and offering a smile, making her dimple appear in her cheek.
“And our joint dimples.” Nessa says, angling her face so Galinda sees a dimple of her own. It makes her giggle.
“And our joint dimples!”
They chat for a while after that, while watching the rest of the students arrive. Nessa laments that she's waiting on her father and sister to bring her luggage and then confides in Galinda that she's looking forward to being away from her father, in hopes of finally becoming her own person but that she's excited to have her older sister there with her for support. Galinda, on the other hand, doesn't have such familial support, since her momsie and momsicle have already returned to Gillikan after getting her situated and her bags transported to her private suite. Nessa also says that her sister hasn't been assigned a room yet since she was a last minute entry and that she'll be staying with Nessa temporarily while they find her the necessary accommodation. And just then, she sees the most stunning girl she's ever laid eyes on in her life. Her skin is made up of green, that seems to sparkle with the sun’s gaze on her. She's wearing a black ensemble and though it's not Galinda's favourite colour or a colour she's ever worn, the way the dress sits on the girl is so magnificent that Galinda can't really find it in her to complain. Her microbraids are braided to one side, and it falls delicately over her shoulder. The round classes she wears is kinda nerdy but it makes her look chic and Galinda feels jealous for a clock tick that she'll never pull them off.
But mostly she feels awe.
She's never quite seen anything like this girl before and she's instantly enamored. She gasps loudly, and she sees a few of the other students doing the same thing as the girl trots towards them, some students horrified and some scared. But Galinda, she's intrigued.
“Who is that?” Galinda asks, eyes still firmly set on the girl sauntering towards Nessa and her.
“That's my sister. The one I told you about.” Nessa says, eyeing her warily, before adding, “Galinda, please act normal okay.” Galinda's head snaps to her, mouth agape. This is Nessa’s sister? This goddess made of pure emerald. Galinda feels her heart speeding up in her chest. Oh Oz, is she really about to have a cardiac event and embarrassify herself in front of her future wife? She'll be damned.
“Oh my Oz, I'm a raging lesbian.” Galinda states, her hand clutching her metaphorical pearls. Not that she doesn't have real pearls, she does, but Galinda is wearing her school uniform so it'd be impractical and frankly a waste to wear pearls since no one would see it. Oh, her mom's would be so disappointed in her if they saw her right now, five minutes at Shiz and she's already having the most homosexual feelings known to man. This won't do, she's Galinda Upland, she's charming and pretty, and she will not be a flailing lesbian in front of this girl. She needs to pull herself together.

She can't pull herself together.
“I can't breathe–Oh Nessa, you have to introduce me to her this instant!” Galinda says, nearly choking on her own saliva when the girl of her dreams comes to a stop in front of them. Up close, she's even more beautirific, her green amber eyes shines in the light and Galinda can make out faint freckles littering her nose and cheeks. Her lips are plump and dark and eye lashes long and lushes.
“Nessarose, there you are! I've finally managed to get father off my back. Oz, he's such a fucking pest, I honestly don't know how you stand him.” Nessa’s sister says upon arrival, looking at Nessa before her eyes find Galinda's. She pauses, the words stopping themselves before they utter, and she gazes at Galinda with reverence, her eyes tracing the lines of Galinda's uniform and then her face. Time seems to stop, suspended in the air, as the girls take each other in, eyes following and intense. That is, until Nessa interrupts them.
“Yes, yes, I'm sorry for ditching you. Fabala, this is…” Nessa starts, but then Galinda steps forward, confidence restored again.
“I'm Galinda Upland…from the upper uplands. And you are…” Galinda introduces, this time not extending a hand, instead she places them behind her back and bounces on her toes, her smile charming and light.
“Green?” The girl asks rhetorically, sarcasm bleeding through the air, but it doesn't sway Galinda. Her tone feels a little hostile and defensive, like she's expecting Galinda to make fun of her or say something within that realm, but those aren't Galinda's motives at all.
“Positively emerald, yes. But I meant your name.” Galinda says, a smile still plastered on her face, hoping to disarm the girl, so she can get on her knees and propose marriage. But she reigns herself in and keeps it demure.
“What?” The girl asks, surprise written all over her face, and BINGO! Galinda’s got her. The girl seems quite a bit confusified about the whole interaction and Galinda uses that as leverage to flirt.
“Oh, are you confused that I haven't gasped in shock from your complexion? Don't worry, give me a few hours and I'll be waxing poetic about the exact shade of green you are, but I digress. What's your name, beautiful?”.
“Elphaba. Elphaba Thropp.” She answers, a smile finally making its way onto her face. Galinda sees the gap between her front teeth and is immediately riddled with the urge to lick it. No, bad girl! We don't lick people without their permission or taking them on a date first. Have some class.
“Well, Miss Elphaba, I sure hope you'll be sticking around for longer. To give me the chance to properly dazzle you ofcourse.” Galinda says airily, eliciting a delighted cackle from Elphaba, making Galinda giggle in return. Her laugh is kind of loud and peculiar, but it's the best sound she's ever heard and she vows to make it happen again.
“Yes, I'm sure everyone is shaking in excitement to see me around everyday, judging from the gasps.” Elphaba retorts, and she raises her eyebrows and looks around and it's only them when Galinda realizes that there's an army of students surrounding them, witnessing their interaction. Some are curious and some confused but mostly they just seem super nosy. Great, they'll know Elphaba is hers.
“They'll have to get in line then. I was here first.”
“I'm not sure if you're being extra cruel by making fun of me or if I should be flattered that the prettiest girl I've ever seen is flirting with me.” Elphaba comments, using her manicured forefinger to push up her glasses that have slipped down her nose. An action that sends Galinda into a tailspin, leaving her with hearts in her eyes.
“I'd go with the latter.” Galinda suggests, a teasing grin adorning her cheeks, which Elphaba responds to with a lighthearted scoff of her own. Galinda might as well send word back to Frottica that she's betrothed, because she's already planning the most spectaculocous wedding for Elphaba and her.
“Well, Miss Galinda, let me get my sister and I settled and then maybe I'll come find you after?” Elphaba proposes and Galinda has almost entirely forgotten that Nessa was there, also watching with curious and flabbergasterated eyes, gaze splitting between the two of them like she's watching a tennis match go down.
“And in the meantime, I'll be over there yearnifying for you to return to me soon.” Galinda says, lifting her hand to her forehead and dramatically swooning like a Victorian lady. It makes Elphaba giggle, a sweet sound, music to her ears.
“In that case, I won't keep you waiting for too long.” Elphaba says before she and Nessarose take off, Nessa immediately teases Elphaba, causing her to blush. Galinda was right, as she so often is, this is going to be the best year. She can feel it in her bones. And she might just come out the end of it with a beautiful wife on her arm, and she can hardly wait.
“Oh Oz–I'm so in love…”
