The room was cold the office of The League newest elected official was lonely he didn't want to go down stairs to the party where everyone and I mean everyone was there. John looked over at his office the window a perfect view of the underbelly the forgotten. "I thought I find you here." a female voice came from behind it was he looked and saw Hawkgirl a girl he once knew long ago. "I wish to be only Hawkgirl." John said. "Your speech was perfect up until you talked about the league you know people don't like it when you say your going to be his ally in front of group of people especially when half of them who think he's a criminal." He turns fully to face her "How else can I convince him that I want to help him." he says Hawkgirl just gave him a hard look. "Its not easy there very few people he trust." she says "He trusts you. You did it you became his ally in this twisted city of corruption and evil despite everything you've done has in the past yet he can still relay on you to be on his side no matter the what" says John "Despite what I've done in the past he still saw good in me and took me in when I made the change like he did with the others but I didn't say speeches and demand that I be his ally I earned it." They were closer now John and Hawkgirl facing each other closer then they have been in years. "I thought you would avoid me Hawkgirl." he tried to grab her hand but she just gently pushes him away. "Does John know about us." he asks softly he gently lifts his face to face him before she has a chance to look down. "No. That was a long time ago John that cat has to stay in the bag you here me." she says She pushes a little further away from him. "Hawkgirl sooner or later he'll find out and I rather him here that from you then some newspaper." he says Hawkgirl just looks down has John gently guides his face to face his. For a moment there was no party no election nothing just the two of them looking at each other. Hawkgirl left the office with a smile on her face not caring or looking at who watching her. Not realizing that Carter Hall had heard everything with rose falling from his hand and tears springing from his face has the truth of what he heard and saw sinks in.
