Dodie carefully listened to the mixtape, noting its contents while researching Art Deco weddings. “It’s harder than I thought, finding information.”
“It’s probably a good thing your future mother-in-law and her fiancé are so into Christmas that you can settle for art deco Christmas decor,” Olivia said. “But the wedding planner is supposed to be helping with this.”
“I’d say they’re even more at a loss, given they’re not used to weddings with historical connections. Telling them to draw from Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire’s works definitely helped. And don’t get me started on some of the dishes they wanted the caterers to replicate. There’s a reason why some of the Art Deco dishes haven’t, well, been continued.”
“I remember you telling me about the meat jelly dishes,” Oliver said. “And it’s so sweet to let them get married this Christmas instead of you and Ed.”
“I figure his mother and Carl have been waiting forty years, so what is another year for us?” Dodie smiled. “And I kind of wish Carl had entered their life sooner, because they’re so right for each other.”
“Anyways,” Olivia said. “It’s going to be a lovely Christmas party.”
