She thought she was a heroine,
She thought she was a knight,
She thought she was the defender
Of all that’s just and right.
She never asked for more details,
Never read the fine print—
For she was too enamored of
Her role as heaven-sent.
But when she learned the cold, hard truths
Her ideals were shattered,
For she had been quite wrong about
Everything that mattered:
All victims are not innocent,
All heroes are not brave,
And those who make wishes come true
Are looking to enslave.
What once had seemed a blessing
She now saw as a curse—
And as she fell into despair
She became something worse.
