Today was like any other day for 007n7.
Fight for food, fight for territory, over and over again; he had to squabble for everything around here. 007n7 was tired of it, but that was simply how life was in the Twolegplace. He kept telling himself he would get used to it but he never did.
A group of cats fighting over scraps paused their snarling and biting to stare cautiously as he walked by. He puffed his chest in pride and continued to saunter away, ego thoroughly boosted.
That’s right, know who's the big one here.
007n7 had a big reputation in the Twolegplace for using his c00lgui to cause havoc. He was known for killing cats that looked at him funny, though most of it was an exaggerated story, of course, but it was enough to scare most cats into avoiding him at all costs.
007n7 moved into a dark alleyway, heading towards his favorite spot to scavenge; the Twolegs always carelessly left their food in those tall grey structures, giving him plenty to eat. He could always use the c00lgui to get himself food, but what was the fun in that?
He paused a tail-length away from the entrance, recognizing the scent of another cat nearby. He immediately tensed his muscles and felt a surge of anger.
007n7 peeked around the corner, glaring at a small yellow furred tom who looked no more than 9 moons old. The small tom was ripping thin strips from a chicken wing with his claws, purring at the rich taste. This mouse-brain came frequently into his scavenge spot, stealing food for his so called ‘mother’. He'd learned from other cats that the runt was named Elilot, but he couldn't care less.
007n7 stomped up to Elliot and slammed his front paw on his head, knocking the pathetic scrap onto the ground. Elliot glared up at him warily, a steady drip of blood leaking wound the ragamuffin cat left on his ear, as 007n7 pinned him down with one paw.
“Do you have bees in your brain? How many times am I going to have to tell you to stay off my territory?”
007n7 snarled, baring his teeth at him. He attempted to rip the cooked chicken from Elliot’s jaws, but the young tom was determined to keep it, growling back at him, 007n7 could see the young tom's muscles flex under his thin pelt covered in scars 007n7 left a few moons ago as he tried his best to fight back.
“T-This is mine! I found it first!” Elliot cried, his voice muffled, before he managed to worm his way out of 007n7’s grip, scratching the calico’s leg with his tiny claws in the process. Before 007n7 could do something, the young savanna cat took off, scrambling out of the alleyway, making the ragamuffin hiss in annoyance.
“Get back here, fleabag! I'm not done talking to you!”
He quickly gave chase, following him onto the thunderpath. The rough rocks tore at his paw pads, but 007n7 was too focused on his target to falter now.
He pursued after the younger tom into the forest, nearly crashing into trees on the way. He hissed as bramble thorns stung his pelt, slowing him down slightly, he put more energy into running, quickly catching up.
Suddenly, as he was closing in on Elliot, something closed around his tail and yanked him back, causing his legs to collapse under him mid run. He let out a pained yelp as his chin slammed against the forest floor, but that was the least of his worries.
He twisted his body to look at his tormentor; it was a strange looking wire tied down to the ground with a wooden stake. He quickly identified the strange Twoleg contraption as a snare. He’d remember Noli talking to him about the item and how to avoid it, yet he had just stupidly fallen into one.
Panic quickly set in as he stood up and attempted to free himself, to no avail. The snare did not give way, much less budge, but bit down harder around his tail in response. 007n7 squirmed on the floor trying to sit up, gritting his teeth in pain. He kept trying to yank himself free out of desperation, his movements slowing down as exhaustion crashed into him in waves.
My tail is going to rip at this rate.
007n7 finally collapsed onto the floor, his flank heaving as he tried to catch his breath. The strong metallic scent of blood began to fill the air, a smell 007n7 was all too familiar with. Watching in horror, his orange blood pooled and reached through the forest grasses beneath his body. The snare continued to sink its cruel fangs into the base of his tail, sending harsh jolts of agony down his spine.
I’m going to die here, 007n7 thought depressingly, his eyelids slowly anchoring down. He heard heavy footsteps a few tail-lengths ahead and squeezed his eyes shut, accepting his fate begrudgingly.
If you’re here to finish me off, make it quick.
He felt a large hairless paw gently pick him up and untie the wire, causing the snare to stop biting his tail and finally release its grip. Hebrew a sigh of relief, though his contentment was short lived when he weakly opened his eyes to see that he was in the arms of a Twoleg.
His nose twitched at the strong scent of mint radiating off of her. Normally, he would hiss at any Twoleg that would try to even lay one of their grubby pads on his pelt, but at the moment he was too weak to even lift a paw. He had to pathetically rely on the Twoleg who held him. Despite his struggles to stay awake, 007n7 felt his body go limp in its arms before everything went dark.

007n7 let out a soft groan, his eyes opening to look at his surroundings. He lay limply on a table in a cold, white room, made blazingly bright by an annoyingly fluorescent white bar light, radiating down on his weak body.
Where am I? Am I dead? 007n7 thought, quickly getting up onto his haunches. He attempted to jump down onto the floor, only to just fall over with a loud thud. He stood back up, shuddering at the pain that ricocheted through his fur. It had lulled into a trackable pattern of aches now, but that didn’t cause any comfort; only made him aware he’d been unconscious for longer than he had realized.
He was usually great at balancing, often jumping from high places without fail.
007n7 looked down, expecting to see his long, fluffy tail, which he knew and loved, only to see it was gone. His pelt pricked with dread at the sight, and he kept blinking, expecting to see his tail appear, but nothing happened. He forced himself to stand up fully; his limbs protested heavily at the movement, but that was nothing compared to the grief of the loss of his tail.
007n7’s tail had been severed and replaced with a hideous looking stub. He looked like a rabbit.
This enraged him beyond belief.
His ears flattened against his head, a yowl of outrage bubbling in his throat. He would make sure to shred the Twoleg that did this to him.
Apparently, he was too loud, because a tall Twoleg wearing some strange white cloth rushed into the room and put him back onto the table. 007n7 hissed at it, his claws sliding out and trying to fight back, but he was no match for the strength of a Twoleg. With a yelp, he was firmly pushed into a dark cage, the entrance slamming shut within an instant.
The cage was suddenly lifted into the air, being carried by the Twoleg, making him yelp in a mix of anger and fear. He pressed himself against the back of the cage, picking up loud noises all around him: loud yelping from dogs, desperate cries from other cats, and the annoying cooing of Twolegs.
He pressed his ears flat against his head trying to block off the overwhelming racket.
He had no choice but to look out the small entrance to the cage; he was being carried to that same Twoleg he saw earlier, the one who smelled like mint.
The one who saved him from the trap.
The one who forced him to lose his tail.
He immediately tensed his body at the sight of her, hackles raising.
“You're the one who took my tail, how dare you!? I should claw that smirk off of your face!”
He’d snarl glaring at her in fury as the cage rested on her lap. He continued to hiss and curse at her, and as he was distracted, the Twoleg with the white cloth brought out an object with a sharp needle that pricked him in the side. As the subduing anecdote made its way through his veins, his vision doubled and fuzzed, his limbs grew tired, and his claws retracted. He paws at the gaps in the cage and bares his teeth once more, still glaring daggers into the ivory-clothed Twoleg. He got his throat to make one last weak hiss, but couldn’t muster up the will to do anything more as his body succumbed to the quickly impending unconsciousness.

007n7 opened his jaws lazily in a yawn and sat upright. He looked around and his ears perked, noticing he was in yet another strange place. It was only after a few seconds of looking around that his memories began to piece back together.
Right, the Twoleg put me in that cage and probably brought me here.
It didn’t take a genius to understand that he was in a Twoleg nest; he'd remember being in one of these places before. He began to limp around curiously, jumping onto a nearby table to plan his glorious escape.
To his disappointment, it was raining heavily outside, interfering with his plans. 007n7 could feel himself leaning against the window. It was oddly relaxing in this nest, the raindrops pattering gently against the glass. He was far from relaxed, though, he just wanted to go back to the Twolegplace and get out of this stupidly warm nest. He could hear shuffling behind him, and when he reared his head he saw the same mint-scented Twoleg again. He instantly arched his back and hissed, his stubby tail lashing with irritation.
What does she want now? Why can't she just leave me alone!?
007n7 thought, watching her with caution and irritation as she suddenly reached out and applied a light blue collar around his neck. 007n7 looked down at the suppressive scarf and noticed the small bell with a name tag attached to it. He moved his paw carefully, reading the text.
Snickers.
The Twoleg decided to name him Snickers.
What a horrible name.
007n7’s claws flexed and dug into the table. He was supposed to be an intimidating cat, not a soft weak kittypet.
How degrading.
007n7 huffed and shot her a death glare, jumping down from the table and nearly falling onto his face.
This was his new home now, and he was going to have to get used to it, whether he liked it or not.
