The Doctor pushed open the doors of the TARDIS, "Fantastic! this is just what The Doctor ordered", he yells triumphantly as he installed a small cyan into his ship's console. But behind the ecstatic Time Lord, a loud stomping could be heard throughout the ship belonging to Rose Tyler. The young human was fuming; her favorite hoodie was ruined.
"Really, all that for a small crystal. I almost got arrested you know". The Doctor didn't pay much attention to his companion as he pulled down a leaver, The TARDIS groaned in approval. At least that's what Rose thought. The TARDIS wasn't just any time-traveling spaceship, Rose could have sworn it was alive to a certain degree and while she couldn't understand it, she could get a general feeling what the blue box was on about.
After a few moments, The Doctor would snark back "we got out didn't we". His smile faded slightly looking at his friend's tattered clothing. Suddenly as if a spark had lighted in the Time Lord he pointed to the back of the console room, he spoke softly "Rose, why don't I make up to you. You can pop off to wardrobe while I finish up here, maybe we can watch a movie". Rose couldn't resist, as much as she loved going on adventures, she thought a movie would be a nice change.
Rose wandered through the halls of the TARDIS pretending she wasn't totally lost. The ship groaned as if it was laughing at her. The girl thought back to her first night onboard, after her first adventure she decided to retire to her new room but kept getting lost. Almost like the living ship kept moving her bedroom. "Can you just stop moving the room already, you stupid ship" the young girl shouted up to the ship, which groaned in response. Rose was suddenly faced with a light blue closet door. "Finally, I think I'm getting some respect around here" she smirked.
Pushing through the door with ease, Rose strolled through the room ,having only been inside a few times. She skimmed through many different outfits including: a brown pinstriped suit, a cream cricket jumper and a red blazer tangled in a long colorful scarf. "Where did he get all these" Rose chuckled. Soon Rose picked out some new clothes when she found something she couldn't believe.
"I wonder what's taking her so long" sighed The Doctor as anxiously waited for Rose's return. The leather clad Time Lord stood next to the console flicking buttons and switches, trying to do something to distract himself. The Doctor hadn't had a companion in such a long time so he wanted to make Rose feel as welcome as possible. He wanted things to turn out differently, he was a new man. He wanted to show Rose the universe and he wasn't going to let things happen how they always do...
"Tada!". And there she stood, Rose Tyler dressed in a black t-shirt, jeans and a familiar rainbow coat. The Doctor looked down in embarrassment, he could have sworn he got rid of that eyesore. "So what do you think, not your type~", Rose's teased.
The Doctor shook his head, "You've got to be kidding me" he muttered as he removed the clownish coat, much to Rose's objection. "Where did you get this?" The Doctor said as he wrapped up the coat.
"Just the wardrobe" Rose paused "and don't worry, Doctor. I respect your choices" she said before bursting into laughter. The Doctor couldn't help but roll his eyes far back into his head. The Time Lord looked down to his old colorful garments with a somber yet nostalgic look. "Doctor..."
The Doctor sat in his chair reading 'War of the Worlds' whilst inattentively stirring the Christmas cake mix. "Doctor, have you finished stirring the cake" shouted Peri as she walked into the kitchen, finding The Doctor distracted. "Doctor shouldn't you be watching the cake mix?" Peri inquired.
"Nonsense, my dear Peri. I am an expert at multitasking", The Time Lord announced with confidence, completely unaware of that the cake was being burnt. The American girl left the kitchen to grab a fire extinguisher. The two friends looked down onto the black melted sludge that was once cake and The Doctor looked away sheepishly.
"That's the third cake today" Peri groaned "you know what I'll handle the cake, you can finish setting up the decorations". The Time Lord exited the room with groan.
After 30 minutes the cake was finished and placed on the counter top to cool off. Peri's ears had picked up a loud bang coming from the sitting room. Rushing in she found The Doctor tied, from head to toe in lights. "Looks you're my present this year, Doctor~" Peri teased putting her hand on her hip.
"Har har, Very amusing. Now can you unite me" The wrapped Time Lord muttered, his face all red. The giggling girl took her sweet time to unwrap her present. The Doctor flinched a bit with the sudden physical contact. Peri flashed The Doctor with a reassuring smile.
"Doctor!"
"Rose, no need to be so loud" said The Doctor as he picked up the coat. Rose crossed her arms. The leather clad Time Lord smirked and tossed her the rainbow coat. "Here. Consider it an early Christmas present"
Rose was flattered but confused. "Doctor" she paused "it's July"
"Oh" The Doctor looked down sheepishly, till he noticed the TARDIS was done charging. "We could celebrate early" The Doctor smiled as he held the switch, Rose nodded excitedly and off they went.
