Chapter Text

The sun shimmered through the velvet curtains as Noob rubbed their eyes and slowly sat up in her extravagant bed, and she groaned.
”Ngnnhh.. They couldn’t get thicker curtains to block out the sunlight? Seriously, we have all the money we could ever want..” The
princess complained, getting up and opening the doors to their private balcony.

Stepping onto the platform, Noob yawned as the morning sun soaked into their skin. They stared at the green meadow in front of them,
the one they had always stared at for their entire life. Something about it gave them a sense of peace, and it almost made them forget
about how they’re always cooped in the Castle.

Suddenly, there was a loud knock on Noob’s bedroom door. They hurried over from the balcony to open the door, and saw their personal
guard standing before them. “Good morning, your highness. Are we ready to start the day?” Chance asked, and Noob smiled. “Good
morning, Chance! And you can call me by my name, I don’t mind.”

”My apologies, but your dad would be very upset at me if I were to do so.” He said, watching as Noob hurried over to their closet and
started looking for something to wear for the day. “Father wants me down for breakfast, doesn’t he? Oh, who does he think he is!
Expecting someone as young as me to wake up this early..” They complained once again, sighing loudly.

“Chance, can you find a maid to help me tie up my dress so I’m not late again?” Noob asked as they pulled out a green and gold dress,
and Chance nodded. Soon (with the help of a servant), they was all dressed and ready to start the day. The pair headed down to the
dining hall where Shedletsky and Brighteyes sat.

“Good morning Mom!.. and Dad.” Noob said, their voice slowly faltering when they see him sat down at the table. “I thought you were still
on that patrol trip with the military troupe.” Shedletsky chuckled at their comment as he watched them pull a chair and sit down in front of
their plate of food.

Brighteyes made a small “tsk” noise, shaking her head disapprovingly. “Your dad doesn’t go on trips everyday, y’know.” She snapped back,
though it was obviously in a playful way. “Anyways, they got back last night and brought some “treasure” , so they might need a helping
hand in sorting stuff out.”

Noob’s eyes widened in excitement as they immediately scarfed down their breakfast and gulped down their water, abruptly standing up
from the table. “I’ll go there right away, thank you!” They quickly said, rushing out. Chance (who’s legs were starting to fall asleep from
standing for a long time) excused themself and ran out to catch up with Noob.

As Noob ran outside, they soon spotted the army at a small patch of concrete in the big outside yard, chatting and talking amongst
themselves. Looking around, they soon spotted Guest 1337 and immediately went up to greet them. “Hi, 1337! How was your trip? Got
anything good for me?”

The military leader smiled and patted their head. “Well, that’s up for you to decide yourself. We’re having everyone sort through it, but
we’re almost about done. Why don’t you help us finish up by grabbing one of those bags from over there?” He offered, pointing to a small
pile of boxes that was slowly shrinking in size. “Maybe have that guard of yours help out as well.”

Chance (Who was spacing out up until that moment) tried to hide their grimacing expression and started mumbling small excuses, but
Noob just sighed. “Oh, come on Chance! It won’t be that hard with you helping me!” They said, trying to convince them to help out. The
guard stared at them for a couple more seconds and caved in. “Okay, fine.”

The pair grabbed one of the boxes and began sifting through them, ooing and aweing at all of it. Soon, Noob pulled out a beautiful looking
dagger with a dark purple hilt. The edge of the handle was covered in small alexandrite stones, and there was faint carving on the blade
that seemed to spell out something.

“TO MY BEAUTIFUL NIGHTSHADE.”

“Wow! Whoever made this has incredible craftsmanship!” Noob exclaimed, a wide smile on their face as they admired the knife. Chance
looked over the princess’s shoulder and their eyes widened. “Wow, no kidding. Wanna keep it?” He asked, though Noob could tell that they
were (sort of) joking.

“Tempting.. But no. Let’s give it to Guest, maybe he can take it off your hands for now.” They said, holding the blade of the dagger as to
not stab someone with it by accident. Noob tried to give the dagger to Guest (Who said “What am I supposed to do with that? I fight with
my hands.”) and was looking around for someone interested in taking it from their hands before they eventually gave up.

“Oh, this is hopeless!” Noob complained, slumping into a garden bench as they pouted dramatically. “Who wouldn’t want this knife? It’s
simply so beautiful.” They said, sighing. “Not as beautiful as you, my highness.” Chance had said under their breath, which made Noob’s
head snap to look at them. “Hm? Did you say something?” The princess asked, and the guard quickly shook their head.

He awkwardly cleared their throat, giving off a small chuckle of nervousness. “Me? Oh, no- I didn’t say anything.” He said quickly, and the
other one just shrugged and looked away. Chance thought for a moment, putting a finger to their chin. “Hmm.. You know, I know someone
that would love to receive that dagger as a pleasant gift.”

Noob looked up, a hopeful gleam in their eyes. “Really? Oh, who is it? I wanna know!” They begged, and Chance chuckled. “Calm down, I
can take you there now- It’s not like he gets enough sunlight anyways.” He said, the last part sounding like a bit of shade towards this
mysterious figure he was talking about.

“Who even is it, anyway?” They asked, and Chance turned to them with a grin.

“You’ll see.”

“So, you can’t find the original owner?”

”Uh huh.”

“And you want me to have it?”

“Oh, you know my father will get mad at me if he sees this in my room! Just please, can you just take it off my hands?”

Dusekkar looked at the dagger, the small purple rhinestones glistening in the sunlight of his small window as he thought about what to say.
He didn’t really have any use for a knife like this, but he could probably sell it for good money if the small stones on the handle were real.
“Hmm.. I guess I could take this off your hands, but it’s not like I could refuse anyways.”

Noob smiled. “Thanks! Oh- Before I forget to ask, are you coming to my 19th birthday banquet? Mom wanted to go all out this year so she
has the entire ballroom decked out!” They exclaimed, and Dusekkar couldn’t help but chuckle. “Yes, I am. I was asked by your father to
make an appearance as there are some things he would like to discuss with me.”

“Oh, great! I can’t wait to see you!” They said. The two said their goodbyes and Dusekkar was alone yet again in his tower (A/N: think of
the tower that rapunzel is forced to stay in in tangled). ‘Hm, I guess I could go see if I can sell it for something at least.’ He thought,
exiting his room and heading down the spiraling stairs of his tower.

The wizard cut through the lawn of the castle’s courtyard, heading for the front gate before he saw someone standing there. They had a
cloak darkening their face making it almost impossible for him to see who it was, and they were looking around in almost a panicked state.
They saw Dusekkar and almost jumped, not expecting someone else there.

“Err.. Hello!” The stranger said. “Um, by chance have you seen a dagger anywhere? It belongs to my.. my friend, they lost it while exploring
the forest during the night a couple of days ago.” They explained, and Dusekkar looked down at the one in their hands. “Is this your friend’s
dagger?” He asked, showing them the knife. They nodded enthusiastically, a bit too excited to see it. “Yes! That’s the one.”

Dusekkar opened the gate and gave the dagger back to the stranger, apologizing profusely for the mixup and watched at the stranger
thanked them and walked away. As strange as it was, there was a weird feeling brewing in his stomach as he kept watching them.

Oh well, it’s not like they were going to see them again.

Right?
