Chapter Text
When Noah signed up for Total Drama he didn’t expect to fall for a girl, he didn’t believe in summer love but maybe this could be the exception or maybe not is not like he was her type anyway.
Noah met Bridgette when they were put in the same team together, she greeted him when they were going to the cabins, he returned it but didn’t think much of it. The first challenge started and Noah waited for at least some people jumping first to see if it was safe.
Bridgette was the first one to jump, Noah didn’t know if this was smart or dumb of her but he respected it.
After some other of his teammates jumped Noah did, but this didn’t matter since Courtney and DJ didn’t jump, costing them the challenge. Noah was ready to vote for Courtney until Ezekiel the homeschooled boy opened his mouth.
The next challenge didn’t start well for him, he really tried to run but he ended up fainting, when he woke up the first thing he saw was Bridgette with an expression of relief on her face.
“Oh lord I’m so glad you wake up”
“Did we win?” The cynic asked.
“No, but don't worry that wasn’t the challenge, now it’s time to eat, I brought you some food.” She gave him a friendly smile. which made Noah feel a little better.
Noah wasn’t surprised when Chris announced that this wasn't the challenge either, now they will have to stay awake for who knows how long.
Noah couldn’t figure out if he sat next to Bridgette or she sat next to him but they were next to each other, it wasn’t a big deal though.
“So…” Bridgette looked at him “You want to talk?”
“Hmh?”
“I mean, we are gonna be here for a while and I would like to know you a little better”
Noah shrugged “I guess it's a away to prevent yourself to sleep”
And so they did, Noah wasn’t what you called an open book but there was something about Bridgette that made him talk more. Maybe it was her chill and nice personality, her genuine smile or maybe that she was a good listener.
She also shared some interesting stories, Noah knew she was a surfer but never really thought anything of it, he definitely didn’t understood it before but now after hearing why someone liked it so much he began to understand more, not enough for him to risking being shark’s food but at least enough to not brush it off as dumb.
“Wait a minute” Noah gets up to grab Eva’s mp3 that fell on the floor.
“That’s Eva mp3” Bridgette noted.
“Yeah, it fell when she went to the bathroom, I will give it to her when she comes back.”
“That is… nice of you” The surfer smiled.
“What?” Noah smirked “surprised?”
“Kinda, but in a good way”
Noah gave Eva her mp3 back, she looked genuinely happy and thanked him, he knew it was good to be on the girl's good side, sadly neither of them were able to stay awake during the whole challenge and they lost. Harold was eliminated that night.
The third challenge was Noah’s worst nightmare, sports.
He was lucky he didn’t have to play any round, Courtney didn’t want him to play because he could be a liability, he didn’t really care about it, Bridgette did try to defend him but he told her it was fine. Eva demolished the first two rounds, Chef banned her from playing after she injured Trent. They lost the next round, Noah suggested to wake Duncan since he probably could be of help. His other teammates were a little hesitant but he didn’t care.
“Hey, delinquent!” Noah poked him.
"You'd better have a good reason for waking me up." He glared.
Noah was going to come back at him with a snarky remark but Courtney interjected "Look. We are down two-to-nothing. I can appreciate that you need a little nap time. But we need your help."
"Oh, and why should I help you, darling?"
"Because I can personally guarantee you that if we lose this game, you’ll be the one going home. Darling." The type A smirked. And then they won the challenge.
That night the Bass celebrated their first victory.
He wasn’t surprised when he saw that Trent was eliminated; he got really injured because of Eva.
The next challenge was a talent show, Noah didn’t want to compete and Courtney didn't even want to see whatever he could do, so it was a win-win situation.
Noah wasn’t a big fan of Courtney but her skills with the violin were pretty great, sadly he also had to hear the dumb bet that was taking place not far away from him.
“Just as an advice, you should not be doing this here, maybe somewhere you can’t fall from the stage or knock someone down.” He said.
Duncan rolled his eyes “Okay downer”
“No, Noah is right, let's do this somewhere else” Bridgette smiled at him, that was nice, he thought, her smiles were pretty warm.
In the challenge they had a rocky start with DJ and a terrible mid performance with Eva, who also started to throw things enraged, Courtney was their salvation but the Gophers had a big lead with Justin and Geoff performances, Courtney tried to pull it off but Heather ballet dance was enough.
At the end, Eva was eliminated.
Noah was fine with being in the woods one night, he read books about camping and the outwoods before coming into the show, Courtney assigned him, Bridgette and DJ to bring food which he accomplished pretty well.
/
Bridgette was glad she wouldn't be alone in the woods, she loved nature but there was something so eerie about being alone surrendered by the unknown, she hoped there wasn’t a challenge where she had to do this.
Noah definitely helped her fear and being surrendered by people she liked, but Noah looked so confident it was nice seeing him taking the lead and explaining things to DJ and her.
“So Noah, eh” DJ said with that friendly smile of his.
“What about him”
“Look I don’t like gossip or getting involved in others personal life, but I noticed your pretty much the only one he likes”
Bridgette frowned, was that true? “He is pretty nice to you”
“Yeah I guess but that's about it”
“Well maybe he is just nice to people he likes,” Bridgette shrugged .
“Yeah, sure” The tall boy just smiled and continued to collect food.
Bridgette's mind was now somewhere else, Noah was really nice to her? He was also nice to DJ but he’s DJ, who could hate him?
She will have time to think about this after the challenge.
Of course she had to ruin the tent, how could she be so clumsy most of the time? Noah probably thinks she is dumb now. They all had to use a big leaf to cover from the rain, this was going to be a long night
/
The first thing Noah saw when he woke up was Bridgette's face so close to him, he startled a little bit, he would normally not care but this was Bridgette. He didn’t know what that feeling was so he decided to ignore it until goes away.
He knew they were missing members but he didn’t say anything because they were Sadie and Katie, and honestly he didn’t care about them enough.
Maybe he should have so they would win this challenge.
Katie was eliminated that night.
Not much later everyone reunited around the bonfire and for some stupid reason they started to reveal their fears, he was going to warn Bridgette to not tell hers but she was occupied comforting Sadie.
It wasn’t a surprise when the next challenge they had to face their fears, Noah was glad he lied about it but was a little worried about Bridgette, he spent his time in a dark room thinking if she was alright.
“This is getting stupid” He had to talk about this in the confessional, these new feelings were so strange he didn’t know what it was, and he hated not knowing things.
After getting a point for his team he decided to take a walk, he walked near the beach where he saw Geoff getting impaled by hail while trying to take Gwen out of the sand.
“Hmm, well that's a weird pair”
Not much later he heard a scream, it was Bridgette she was running to the Bass team, DJ stopped her.
“Bridgette, what happened?” he asked
“There was something in the woods!”
“Isn’t something always in the woods?” Duncan asked.
“So much for someone who is afraid of cardboard,” Noah said.
Noah couldn’t blame Bridgette, phobias are irrational fears after all.
The Gophers won the challenge, they had more members so it wasn’t really fair but Chris didn’t care when Noah pointed it out.
Noah knew this was the moment to vote for Courtney or Duncan, he knew they liked each other and with their connections they could be a threat. He knew he could convince Sadie and Tyler but he needed one more vote to be sure.
“Hey can we talk” he said to Bridgette who was sitting on the edge of the dock.
“Oh, hi there Noah,” she said calmly.
“Are you ok?” he asked.
“Honestly no, I lost my challenge and last challenge I also mess up” the blonde sighs “I’m feeling so useless now”
Noah wasn’t good with emotions, he normally would try to ignore it or say something sarcastic and unhelpful.
“Well in your defense, Courtney and Tyler messed up too” he said “but it was kinda unfair for us anyway we are down 3 members from the Gophers so our chances were pretty low”
“But not zero”
“Look I’m not good with feelings but this thing needs to stop” he said trying to sound firm and friendly “I don't think you are a liability but if you really think you are then you will become one, so no more feeling sorry for yourself ok”
She just looked at him in shock, this was it, the moment that always comes when he meets someone when they get tired of him and leave him alone.
She sighs “You know what, you right”
Noah blinked, wait, she wasn’t mad at him?
“You are not mad?” he asked with a brow lift up.
“Why would I be” she gave him a small smile “You are right, this won’t help we had to give our best to win the next challenge”
Noah nodded, well this was weird, someone who doesn’t hate him after spending so much time with him? that's new for him.
“Oh by the way, you wanted something else?”
“Yes, actually, I was thinking about who to vote for, do you have anyone in mind?”
Bridgette face grimaces “Yeah I think I do, Courtney wants me to vote for Tyler and I guess is not the worst option”
Noah knew that it was either Tyler, Sadie or him to take the booth, knowing Courtney she probably wants to point out someone who didn’t pass their challenge just like in the first challenge and Tyler was an easy target.
“Well I was thinking of voting for Courtney”
“Courtney? but…”
“Don’t get me wrong she is definitely not the worst but I’m a afraid she and Duncan could become too much of a threat later on”
She didn’t say anything.
“Look its ok if you don’t want to vote for her just as is ok to not vote for Tyler it's your decision after all”
“Thanks, I will think about it”
Why was he so honest about it, he could have lied and said something else, he is acting too differently as he usually does. He waved off and went to the cabin to lay down and read a book, this bonfire was going to be an exciting one that's for sure.
Noah was safe from elimination and so was Bridgette, Courtney and Tyler were the only two left, Noah held a grin when Tyler was saved. His plan worked.
/
“Noah, hey Noah” The cynic boy heard a voice running towards him.
“Tyler?”
“Hey, I just wanted to thank you from saving me yesterday” He said with a big smile “I almost go home, so thanks buddy”
“Oh, yeah whatever it was just a good move”
“Wanna play some volleyball at the beach?”
“Me and you playing volleyball?”
“Well it was more like a group thing, DJ and Sadie are going to be there”
“It’s our day off and-”
“and Geoff, Cody oh also Bridgette”
“You know what, I’m going but just to watch how you play”
“Oh that’s ok, some are just watching the game.”
Noah didn’t like sports, he just wanted to see how Bridgette was doing.
When they got there he saw Bridgette and DJ talking while warming up, she didn’t look too happy but she didn’t look so down, that was good… right?
Some of his teammates waved at him, including Bridgette and he went to sit next to Gwen since she looked the same as interested as he was which was almost none.
“Don’t you hate sports?” the goth asked.
“I do but I don’t have anything better to do” he replied “what about you?”
“Same”
Noah scoffed “Really? I thought it's because of party boy”
“What? no!” she almost said that a little too loud.
“Yeah, right” they didn’t speak much after just to say some sarcastic remarks of the game and about some of the things Sadie and Lindsay were talking about.
/
Noah wanted to pair up with Bridgette for the challenge but he wasn’t able to reach for her, he didn’t know why it was just a simple question. What was so conflicted about that?
“Hey buddy Noah” Tyler hugged him with one hand from the back, Noah eyes widened for a moment. “Want to pair up?”
He was going to say no, but his eyes caught a glimpse of Bridgette and DJ preparing themselves for the challenge.
Noah sighed “Whatever let’s do it” Tyler cheered.
Moving the canoe was relatively easy until Tyler tripped and impaled his face on the sand.
The trip to Boney island was fine until Tyler decided to talk.
“Dude, can you help me with a problem I have with Lindsay?”
He should have said no, but maybe helping him would make him a useful ally for later.
“Which one”
“Uh… well don’t tell anyone but… we are dating”
Noah just looked at him deadpanned, “Seriously?”
“Yeah, we are seeing each other in secret since Heather doesn’t want us to be together”
Noah had noticed how Heather has tried to not be super obvious with her alliance even though it's pretty obvious her, Lindsay and Beth were in one.
“I don’t mind seeing each other in secret but I would like to be more open with it so Justin stops with his flirting” The jock explained “I mean the guy is attractive and charming…” his eyes widened “Not like I noticed but… you know what I’m saying”
Noah looked at him deadpanned “Tyler, why do you bring this to me?”
“Well I thought you would know about love problem since you and Bridgette seem close”
Noah eyes’ widened “What? No, uh… we are just friends”
“Oh…” Tyler looked apologetic “Sorry about that then…”
The trip to Boney island was quiet after that.
/
Bridgette had a lot on her mind after Courtney's elimination.
The look in the A-type when Tyler received the last marshmallow was still playing in her brain, she didn’t vote for her, she voted for Duncan, she wanted to vote based on who she had more affinity with.
“Are you ok Bridge?” DJ asked her, she was very grateful to him, he had been cheering her up these past couple of days.
“Yeah, I think I am” She also had something else in mind “It’s Noah”
He smiled “Hmm I was wondering if you were going to tell me”
“You know?”
“Kinda, I felt the vibe between you two”
“Really? I don’t think he likes me like that” she said “He hasn’t show any signs, which is okay”
“Your the only one he doesn’t seem annoyed to be around”
“I could say the same thing about you” she replied.
“Ok, you got me there” he smiled “but still I think it's pretty different with you”
Bridgette thought for a moment “Well, either way I don’t want to rush things, I like to go slow, you know?” she smiled at him.
DJ smiled back “I get it”
Her team did decent enough in the challenge until Tyler burned down their paddles, thankfully Izzy let run her mouth making their team win.
