Work Text:
Marin entered her home, sighing in relief as she collapsed onto the sofa. She had been at work for over ten hours, as the substitute photographer kept insisting to take extra pictures. Her usual photographer was out, and she suspected the new one was only interested in the job for the idea of taking pictures of good looking women.
She then smelt something from the kitchen. It was vanilla and strawberry. Marin got up, a smile already on her lips. Inside the kitchen, she spotted the culprits. Her beloved husband, and her daughter. They were decorating some biscuits together. Or rather, Nichika was getting a lot of help from Wakana.
“I didn’t know we were running a bakery!” Marin’s voice rang out, laced with pure adoration. Both Wakana and Nichika froze. They turned around in sync. Nichika beamed upon seeing her mommy, and (with some help from Wakana), got over to her mom.
“Mama! Me and Dad were baking!” Nichika excitedly said, now in Marin’s arms. Marin laughed slightly, she could see the evidence. For all of Wakana’s cooking skills, he was a father first. Nichika liked the idea of a “flour fight”? She got it. “Sweetie, I can see that. I’m very proud of you two, my special bakers.” Marin kissed Nichika’s forehead, then gently placed her back on the ground.
She then went over to Wakana, who was slightly pink in the face. “Hello, hubby. How was your day?” Marin’s face was an incredibly smug grin. She picked up one of the biscuits, and bit it in half, proceeding to offer the remainder to Wakana.”God, you’re so cute!” Wakana took the remainder of the biscuit, and ate it.
“Mama, is it good?” Nichika asked, her head slightly tilted. Marin had to stifle a squeal, how much cuteness could she handle!? “It’s amazing, sweetie. You’re both amazing.”
Nichika beamed in pride, and Wakana couldn’t help the soft smile that came to his face. “We all are.” Wakana said, pulling both Marin and Nichika into a big family hug. “Yay! Dad hug!” Nichika said, making both Marin and Wakana laugh. “You can have all the dad and mummy hugs you want. That’ll never go away.”
As the family continued hugging, in the small apartment, it felt like everything was okay. And it would be. Because they were family.
The sound of munching broke the adorable moment. Marin had sneaked a biscuit, behind Nichika and Wakana’s backs! “Mama! You stole that!” Nichika was giggling now, as Marin now looked nervous. She quickly swallowed the piece of biscuit, and hurriedly tried to defend herself. “No! I was just… testing them! Yep.”
Wakana simply pulled back a chair, and watched the show.
