Just To Find The Edge

Just a quick little drabble to round out my fic total (excluding alternate editions) to 476k words for the year.

The title for this one comes from the lyrics to Toes, by Norah Jones, because it feels very "going home after a long time away" to me.

Dear Momma and Daddy,

Just writing to let you know that Enterprise will be coming home for upgrades at Jupiter Station soon, and we’ll all be getting at least a month of shore leave to use how we like. I don’t know the exact dates yet, you know how things can be out here - we’ll get most of the way and then get called to Vulcan or something - but with a little luck it’ll be from around mid-March.

I love how Trip keeps his parents updated on when he'll be back to Earth and for how long-lasting their shore leave will be. He's such a loving son. Thank you for writing and sharing this story.

  I think for Trip post-Xindi part of it is probably wanting to be spend time with his family because you never know how long you'll get, and he still misses Lizzie, so he knows his parents would too.

    Yeah, I think he would want to spend time with his family when he could and stay in contact with them by either writing them letters or calling them. Because like you said you never know how long you'll get with them and he probably doesn't want them to miss and worry about him so much either. Thanks again.
